Please consolidate crafting in Shadowbringers

The crafting rotation is absurdly long for level 70 crafts. It has only gotten longer since ARR, and every subsequent DoH patch. If I used macros, it would be 3 completely full macros. But I don't like to use macros for latency reasons, so I'm literally pressing 30+ buttons for each craft. It's not as if it's hard to do this, it's just very tedious. I don't even want to think about how long crafting will take at level 80, at the current rate of difficulty increase.

Please like this post if you agree. Conjecture tells me the more a post is liked, the more attention it gets from the devs.

But... you dont need 3 full macros, 2 are totally doing the trick. Just how 2 were totally doing the trick in ARR (...I might still have mine somewhere...) - so while crafting got more complexe and we got more actions and so on, the macro-rotation didnt get longer (assuming endgame appropriate gear).

And personally I'd prefer crafting moving forward by getting more complexe instead of moving backwards by getting more simplified. I'm not thrilled over long rotations either, but just how I want the Shadowbringer-dungeons to be more challenging than Sastasha, I'd like to see crafting at level 80 asking more off me than crafting at level 50.

Sorry if you cant use a macro, manual crafting is indeed tedious - but I still dont want crafting to get "easier" (part of it is to juggle all your stats and skills after all - if you shorten the rotation by a great deal, you lose quit a bit of that puzzle).

I use 3 macros, but two of them are so short they could be combined. It's only for variance's sake.

I may not be a master crafter but I think ti's fun how it is. What I would recommend however is to cut down on some of the ridiculous material costs. My inventory is a mess whenever I try to craft just one item. Never mind the master crafters who keep virtual warehouses of retainers.

I would much prefer if crafting actions could fire faster than every 3 seconds, and if quick synth didnt seem to take LONGER.

The mechanical process of crafting current level stuff takes a bit long for backend reasons.

The fact that it takes so long to mass produce consumables (Particularly infusions) is a large reason for why crafting bots are so common.

I hope they increase the speed of crafting in general and make the quantities infusions are produced in larger so legitimate crafters can more easily keep up with the market demand (Since SE has made it pretty clear at this point that they have no intention of ever banning the aforementioned bots).

I don't think making them less complex is necessary, but I do agree that speeding it up would help a lot. Ability delays and quicksynth speed are terrible.

But nah, I love the complicated figuring out of actions until I get it down to a proper macro - it's like putting together a puzzle and figuring out where I need things to go to make it work.

I think doing it hundreds and hundreds of times makes long rotations a bit less fun. Probably more times, for the really hardcore crafters out there.

I use a maximum of 29 buttons, which is only about 12 different actions while crafting level 70 -4star items. Sounds like you're crafting very inefficiently or undergeared if you're hitting a minimum of 30 buttons.

When crafting lower level items I use like 5 buttons and about 2-3 actions. If they consolidate even more I'm going to be able to craft HQ low level items in 1-2 buttons... kinda even more unfair to low level crafters, and much more boring in my books.

...I should probably check out what's new in the crafting world. Seeing all these rotations that say it's not that bad, but last time I checked out endgame crafting rotations it was Maker's Mark and a million Flawless Synthesis.

It's pretty much all MuMe now.

Though MaMa is generally always a stronger opener until your stats are high enough. So look forward to MaMa being better for the initial gearing up phase in SHB.

It's still 2 macros for 35 durability and 4 macros (if you have a check for quality) for 70 durability though.

This is why you're all doing 1 million actions!

Should be using Manipulation II, Prudent Touch, and Focused actions etc.

They gave you those actions to "consolidate crafting" so all crafters dont need everything leveled to 50+ and you can be a 1 class crafter, and not have to spend 100 years crafting, yet you dont even use the actions and then want more consolidation?

How are you using 3 macros? None of my rotations are longer than 2 macros. 3 star, 4 star, not even non-specialist 4 star.

The only rotations to use 3 macros are convoluted rotations that squeeze out a tiny bit more quality so you can use more nq mats, which are a waste of time since making a few of your base mats in HQ is a joke. Makers Mark is also ridiculously long, and I agree that needs looking at in ShB, but that's a single ability.

There is no rate of difficulty increase. Crafting has crashed in difficulty from ARR to HW to SB. It used to be very difficult, require tens of millions in melds, some rng, lots of hard to gather materials. Nowadays you have extremely powerful abilities like Manip II and Prudent Touch. You can bang out endgame gear with poorly melded gear, cheap food in 2 presses of a button and all the mats are easy to just grab from nodes or abundant currencies. It was even heavily nerfed around 4.3. Crafting endgame has never been easier.

We're talking endgame items too. For crafters, this is meant to be our Savage and Ultimate. It should be a little difficult.

What's sad is that instead of going to the crafting thread and posting "Hey can anyone help me shorten my crafting macros?", where we'd help you in no time... you instead went and posted an uninformed complaint and got 26 other players who also can't be bothered to learn to improve to upvote you. The devs will probably listen and further wreck crafting for those of us who love the depth and challenge.

I macro lvl 70 4-star recipes and it doesn't take me three macros. It takes two macros. Which really isn't that bad or hard. I watch Netflix or am reading a book and have my macro beep at me when each step is done so I know when to push the next button without having to actually watch the craft progress.

The only rotations in recent history that were genuinely obnoxious were for the Ala Mhigan crafting tools, those were like 5 macros long.

If you do it on 2, you can nq with a poor on Blessing (assuming you dont excellent or 3 good at ~ 1700 control, though if you're willing to start with more than 6k quality, you should still hq with a poor)

If you split the end of your 2nd macro to 3 and 4, so the last 4 actions have a "use blessing now" option and a "I can ingen" option, you will never have a poor blessing and can never accidentally nq something.

It also let's you skip out on running about half the macros you need for hq sub combines by letting you drop significantly in starting quality (given that you only need to have/build 16k quality)


For me, pressing an extra button every 70 craft is worth shaving off a button per 35 craft since I make sub combines 100+ at a time

As someone that couldn't be bothered to get crafting stats higher than the """""cheap""""" meld build, I honestly have no idea how you guys have the time or patience to do end game crafting.
When 99% of people are using macro rotations, I don't know what more proof you need that something is wrong with the crafting system.

And for the love of god make auto crafting consumables and low level components allowed to be made in bulk.

I'm fine with crafting as it is now, Specialist actions added at 70 and stuff like name/brand are really strong as is and have already arguably made crafting in SB a little too easy but I'll take that over 400 steps of godforsaken maker's mark in 5.0. We don't need rotations that are even shorter because we're already on the edge of crafting becoming pretty braindead.

Please no... There's enough dumbing down on the combat side of things. Let's not ruin crafting difficulty any further.

Just wait until they release those gathering/crafting leveling boosts.

I mean making so you need less buttons doesn't mean it will be easier, they could just make the buttons you do press more meaningful as opposed to tedious. If you were asked to press 100 buttons in order from 1-100 vs being asked to press 10 buttons but the order is random the only "skill" involved in the first is your patients.
I also find it strange a lot of the people defending how things are also (like most all of us) use macros, I mean would you defend a combat job if it's rotation was so long or overtly stuffed with buttons that the way to play it optimally was to macro its whole skill set?
As craters especially if you want to be self sufficient or make gil you're going to be crafting a lot of items but the way things are now, we're not crafting them, we're just automating the process and then watching videos or something.
I'd rather press less buttons but be engaged by actually doing the craft as opposed to the "skill" in crafting being to find the most efficient way to not have to do the crafting.

I'm not sure what kind of new skills they could even add to crafting at this point while keeping it from getting even easier.

The ability to use more resources to craft a larger amount of items in the case of stackable items would be really welcome, though. They didn't have any qualms about bumping up the time efficiency of DoL classes a ton with huge boosts to HQ rate/gathering yield, so DoH shouldn't be excluded.

I'd love to be able to autosynth multiple items at a time.

It autos at 1 item every ~6 seconds, making 300 ingots/leather/thread/silk takes waaaay too long.

There is NOTHING in this game I canna make with no more than 2 macro's, I'm not even that good, only a couple to 70 (the rest to 50 odd or w/e I've done to get the proper actions). And FFXIV is praised heavily for it's deep and rewarding crafting game, and yes it is a game unto itself.

As indicated in previous posts, if you're using so many actions and macros, you're doing it wrong. However, let's say it was so tedious, I don't mind it at all. Heaven help us if they make it stupid easy like World of Warcraft. I have to be honest, I hate "crafting" when all you do is press a button, let a macro do the work and then press the button again. Tell me what's fun about that? But that's just like, my opinion.

It’s extremely cheap and easy to do collectibles every week and amass tons of materia this way.

I also am super lazy and only really craft HQ raid food and potions, which are 4star. With NQ materials. I don’t use macros. It doesn’t take long, maybe 15 minutes a week to reach 99 food and 99 potions. (As just an example, obviously you can have more than 99.)

I make my retainers gather the materials so I don’t even have to do that.

I also skip 90% of entire crafting sets. I went from the entire HQ 290 gear set, only made 2 HQ pieces of the 320 set then crafted the HQ 340 set myself.

Can’t be more lazy and cheap than that.

To me crafting is fun, and in fact one of the main reasons I even play this game. I tried itnin FFXI and immediately quit. I hear every other games system is the same. “Click an item, and craft it.” Just you can level faster. Which that is horribly boring. I mean unless you hate crafting, then I can see why you would want a point and click system. If they changed it to point and click, I would likely quit crafting or the game entirely.

I don't agree. Crafting is already stupid easy. Make a macro.

I find it highly suspect you can do food and pots in 15 minutes unless you just dont use many.

The fastest rotation that can start with 0 hq mats is 30 steps...

This sums up my feelings about it very well.

To the people telling me to just use macros, I stated in the OP why I don't. I get nasty lag spikes from time to time which mess up my macros. And maybe my rotation is less than ideal, but I'd really like to see the rotation for the Ala Mhigan gear that can be done in only two macros. Either way, I strongly dislike how long it takes to make one item.

This would solve a big part of my problem with crafting.

Crafting is exactly what macros excel at.

Could we make the house craft benches include storage for ingredients?

Same here to be honest. Getting the materials together is by far the longest part (and I guess it should be that way).

What's the alternative? I've seen suggestions for making crafts more random and skills more situational but I'm not convinced a more randomized crafting system would be more fun. It sounds like it'd just be more tedious. Like, if I already know 'This button should be used at this time', I've done it. There's nowhere else to go. And that's fine by me. The fun was in the leveling process and coming up with ways to use new skills/CP totals, which will come again in a few months time.
