There is a live letter from the producers tomorrow, let's discuss announcements.

I just found out there is a live letter from the producers tomorrow. Because of my timezone I can't watch it live. So, for all of us in this situation I have created this thread to post any news, announcements, and discussions.

This might be the final announcement before the release of patch 4.5 and the Blue Mage release. So, I'm really excited. I believe in the last announcement they announced Shadowbringer and the Blue Mage but I maybe wrong.

I hope they release the official release date of the patch. And I also hope they give us more details about Shadowbringers.

The patch release date got leaked in an interview -- Jan. 8th.

I doubt this patch will have much with Shadowbringers, as there's a couple more LLs before Shadowbringers goes live. This patch will most likely cover 4.5 very heavily.

They will keep their cards close for awhile regarding new expansion announcements. They've got 2 other Fanfests to go through. I'm guessing we'll hear a bit more about 4.5 and Eureka Hydatos.

They won't say anything about Shadowbringers. This LL will exclusively focus on 4.5. What I expect from it?

- Some details on the Return to Ivalice
- A more in-depth look at Blue Mage
- Possibly more information about Hydatos and the whole public dungeon thing
- Confirmation on when the Datacenter reshuffling will begin

Blitzball is being announced. If it isnt then its still a win due to new gold saucer content.

My question is where can I watch or read a live translation of the broadcast?

As much as we'd love more info on that, I was getting the impression it won't be happening until 4.55 (or later) so I expect more info to be shared during the EU FanFest and the live letters regarding 4.55.

The FFXIV Reddit Discord has one going during each live letter. If you don't want to use the Reddit Discord yourself, several streamers usually will have it up on their channels as they watch the stream.

Dear god hopefully not Blitzball. Last thing we need is another Gold Saucer game that people will play for a week and then never touch again, except during Make it Rain Campaigns (and not even then if the pay out vs. time investment balance blows *cough*Verminion*cough*).

Triple Triad has proven to be very successful. I'm sure Blitzball could be as well if done correctly.

They talked about the new Gold Saucer event during the Fanfest live letter. Apparently it's a rail shooter using the Air Force planes.

I feel part of it could be some well paced rewards as well.

Let's say 5 races a week gets you 50 end game tomes. Pretty sure there would be a significant uptick, at least 5 lol. Ideally just enough to bring people in taste it a bit for fun and then drop it just as well, because I think people could have fun sometimes running their chocobo around but there would be a lot of complaints / "that's pointless" if it was like 50 races a week.

That'd be pretty cool.

Triple Triad was extremely easy for me to get into. I think it's in a pretty good place, but Chocobo Racing and Lord of Verminion feel overly complicated for what they are. I ignore them for months, then whenever I convince myself to give them another go I remember how contrived the systems are. :p

They said it was happening in 4.5. They just haven't specified whether it's in part one or two. Most are speculating it'll happen come January because they'll want the worlds settled before they implement the world visit system. Either way, I'd just really like an answer. There's no reason not to give us a date.

Trolling aside, I don't think we'll get much Job adjustment. Most raiding content is over, everything is fine for most jobs, and the ones that are too clunky will be fixed as a job rework in 5.0, but QoL in 4.5 couldn't be enough. Same for nerfing I guess.

Blue Mage will be released on the week following 4.5's release (which is Jan 8 for 4.5).

I dont get why they decided to delay the announcement of Mahjong its like they want to try and find new ways to make people upset by creating hype and following it up with something as dissappointing as possible

I'm sure the delay was intended to disappoint you and not at all because they wait until both the LL before the content is meant to be added (generally) and when they have enough information/stuff to show.

It is.

It's a great addition to the game, since FFXIV is a classic JRPG as much as it is an MMO. Having mini-games to play around with is hardly the worst thing in the world and by the sounds of things it didn't steal a significant chunk of development time, either.

I used that specifically to indicate that what they typically do is wait until they have information/things to show to actually announce what something is, beyond vague "content for this thing is coming." Obviously this is not a 100% practice, but I made sure to include that element in my argument.

I heard from the Novice Network they are showcasing the Blue Mage, but I wasn't able to stay long enough to find out more.

A lot of the Gold Saucer games I believe are extra content tangentially related to the game. Remember, if Mahjong is introduced in Gold Saucer there will be an element of gambling involved. I can see nowhere else where Mahjong fits other than Gold Saucer. I haven't spent much time in Gold Saucer but if they do introduce games like Dominoes, which is another gambling game, I may spend some extra time there.

I'm already a big gambler in real life (Poker, Fantasy Football, and Horse Racing which is all legal in my state) so I can see myself as a Blue Mage really getting into Gold Saucer.

I think some prizes you win Gold Saucer is Glamour and I need more Glamour because I am not able to play Dungeons very often.

They mostly showed off some of the abilities, including how to obtain them - you use a "Learn" ability and as long as you see the enemy use the action you can learn then it's a party-wide (if you have more than one Blue) chance for that ability to be learned, and apparently the chance differs based on the enemy/ability (Bad Breath was a 30% chance, a Fish Slap ability was noted as being 20%, and yes you throw fish at enemies).

Bad Breath was shown - inflicts poison, 10% damage down, 40% heavy, slow, blind, paralysis, and a 1 second silence.

Mighty Guard also talked about - take less damage, emnity generation increased while damage caused lowered (aka tank stance).

Showed the Carnivale menu a bit, there's an element of completing rounds under a certain amount of time, as well as a BLU focused challenge log that gives rewards.

Didn't watch all of it but Yoshi-P was hinting about adding Poker in the future and other similar games.

Also adding more prizes to Golden Sauces in the coming 4.5x patches.

Thanks everyone for replying. I have, have to, have point this out but the graphics on this game have always been excellent. This patch looks even more beautiful than anything I've ever seen before. The graphics just get better and better in this game and this only a patch. Also, I did not realize Alphinaud is probably younger than I thought he was. He is probably around the age of Nineteen (this is from the clip).

This brought tears to my eyes being a huge new fan. I love and adore the Eastern Elements of this game which I think were introduced in Stormblood but it's clear from this patch that game is going more towards the West.

I kind of hated Alphinaud before as a character before Heavensward where he really takes off. Now, it seem at some point Alphinaud can be a kid again. He's clearly not a motel kid. All's good in the Hood.
