SE in the future bugger off with the damn dragons

There's super rare loot when doing the rabbit fates. You have a tiny chance for a gold chest. What's worse is that some of the locations are in areas you have to jump off of cliffs to get to. There's dragons at the bottom of them. even when toggling walk, there have been multiple times I've either died on impact, or being aggroed by the dragon before I could react. This has happened to me and multiple others who I've partied with for the rabbit fates.

Now, is SE actually messing with us on purpose at this point? It's easy enough to fall off the whole cliff and have to go all the way back around to some place, but putting a dragon at the bottom of where you need to jump is just a jackass move.

Pagos is basically "Spite: The Instance". Every design choice seems intentionally set up to punish people for having fun the unintended way in Anemos.

Are you ... actually supposed to fall off the cliff? If not, its just a punishment for making a mistake.

There are cliffs you have to fall off of to access caves on the sides of the cliff. They are inaccessible unless you fall off.

So, yeah you are supposed to fall off, it is the only way to get to some areas.

As for OP some things I noticed which may help you.

The dragon will still aggro if you get too close while walking, stay as far as possible without touching its model.

Make sure Walk Mode is on when you fall off the cliff. Do not fall off near the dragon, try to land a bit away from it.

If someone else aggros the dragon and is subsequently killed the dragon can reset to its sleeping spot, and if you are ontop of or infront of the dragon when it goes back to lay down the small time between it going back to sleep it can see you and aggro no matter if you are walking or not. So in other words someone else can kill you if they aggro it and die and you are standing in a bad spot.

Pets will aggro the dragon no matter what if they get close, desummon any pet when going by a dragon.

I've been able to walk straight through the dragons without waking them up, so I feel like there's something else that's causing them to attack in that situation.

I've heard latency can cause the game to think you weren't walking for a split second, though.

You aggroed the dragon because you didn't start walking immediately. If you die from the fall then it means you aggro'ed something before you jumped off the cliff. These mechanics have been in the game since forever ago and this isn't a eureka and pagos exclusive problem.

Dragons in pagos is really bugged. Once I walked by one and then used party chat and dragon woke up and killed me when wasn't even moving. Another time I used a emote and the dragon woke up and killed me when was just standing next to my party at the time. Another time raised a player and it woke up and killed me and other player that just raised.

Don't assume I wasn't walking thanks. I toggled walk ON before jumping off the cliff. And no, there was nothing on me. When I landed I was dead and the dragon moved for a split second during this.

Eureka Pagos is the only place where this specific combination can actually happen. And when you're doing one of the damn chest hunts with the rabbits, it's nothing but a big middle finger from SE.

I dunno I've never had this happen to me.
At least not without me noticing my own mistake.

As KageTokage noted this is not true. I regularly walk through the center of dragons with no ill effect. They work no differently than other sound aggro mobs in that regard.

One thing that can trigger an awakening, though, is pets. Dragons will notice and aggro pets, no matter how carefully the controlling player moves. That's killed me a time or two on SMN, when I forget to put the Egi away...

LOL, yeah, my partymate kept killing me and himself the other night because he kept forgetting his pet was out.

Had it happen while walking and seen others also aggro by walking right through it.

I mean better safe than sorry? Every time I avoid stepping right through the middle of it I don't die. Might be a lag thing, but eh, seems to work for me to avoid going through the model.

I also don't play pet jobs so that wasn't the cause, and I also mentioned desummoning pets in my post because yes it does cause aggro no matter what.

Funny, I once slapped one and he kept sleeping, but another time I simple dismounted to verraise someone and was killed for hopping off my carbuncle.

Emote that have used that woke dragon and killed me was cheer wave and fist bump. Guess don't use any emotes by them. Think SE needs to remove the dragons if there not going to fix these bugs. Other day raised lala 4 times because dragon kept killing them and they was slow walking whole time. Another thing they need to fix is range of that frost breath attack. Today was at nm one agroed it brought it to where everyone was it used frost breath and boon 40+ people was dead before knew what hit them. I didn't even see the attack till was to late.

Being killed by agitating bright luminous glowing sticks near an overpowered dragon that tries to sleep in peace seems kinda normal to me, and definitely not a bug XD

Please go back to the time when going at full speed through a whole map was mindless, harmless and didn't even need to look at the game screen !"

It's specifically the dragons that just happen to go 'hey sleeping below this cliff in front of a tunnel seems like a damn good place to nap all day'. It doesn't feel natural. It's something artificially put there. The enemies in the caves that happen to fit them rather well? Those feel better placed.

There's three caves, that all happen to have a dragon just snoozing away there, which happen to be a bit volatile and not 100% constant.

The sleeping dragons in Pagos are bugged. They occasionally wake up and attack even with walk mode toggled on from far away.
It's a pretty known bug that SE still didn't bother to fix unless it works as intended which makes Pagos even worse in my eyes.

Actually, sleeping up high on a cliff sounds a lot more natural than plunking down in the middle of nowhere, if you're a creature capable of flight (and the wings imply they are). When you sleep, you generally don't want to be disturbed, and up high on a cliff it a great spot - normally. Not the dragons' fault that stupid adventurers keep plummeting down on them from above like lunatics.
