Mine is Shri Lakshmi. She creeps me the hell out.
Bismarck your just fighting adds on a floating island with occasional target point on it.
Shiva.
I enjoy the aesthetics and mechanics of the fight. Yet I really can't stand the music in the second phase. Tsuyokumi's final theme is a good example of what I wanted from Shiva's second phase. Something regal and laced with sadness. Instead we ended up getting something that I found grating.
Ravana and susano their music and voices are so annoying.
Sophia.
Falling off the map is my archnemesis in this game... okay, pretty much every game I've ever played... BUT ANYWAYS, even if I manage not to backflip off the map myself, Sophia seems to LOVE the cheapshot knockbacks more than any other boss.
Ifrit. We went from FFX Ifrit design to this atrocity? For shame.
Byakko, that whole falling part annoys the hell out of me.
Lakshmi and Bismark. The fights were just dull.
Shinryu, but that's just because on our last run, the final FC member who needed their mount left early and the whistle went into the trash. Besides, he likes to glitch out so that people miss the platform and fall for a year instead of actually respawning.
People who hate Lakshmi haven't rested their souls on her bossom yet. She's my favorite, and specially loved the fight on 4.1. Now, on point with the actual question, my least favorite is Bismark. Boring as the damn hell.
Leviathan is my least favorite to get in roulette, especially as a healer. The fight requires next to no healing to get through it, and Levi has to rely on not one, but all 8 players derping and not hitting the switch to avoid his ultimate in order to wipe the deck. At least remove the rails for crying out loud, and make this fight somewhat interesting.
I'm surprised some peeps don't like Susano. I just did this on my DRK, and never felt more badass as a tank, like ever. I'll have to give it a go with me healers.
Def shineyu. Anytime I get him, it’s a panic fest till it’s over
Infrit. FFXIV design of him is just piss poor and he deserves better. Hopefully the next FF MMO gives him justice
Are we talking about the look and design or the gameplay mechanic?
If we are talking about gameplay, shiva for me i guess, the whole fight is just your standard fight, there is no unique mechanic from it, it just feel.... plain. King moggle fight is actually the number one for me, but the whole thing seems like a big joke to me (you know since its... moggle...) so i give it a pass.
Best one is definitely titan for me, still the one that give me the most "impact" when i first fight him, the mechanic, the music, the chaos, holy wow for the first time.
As for look and design, ifrit, everyone look humanoid or at least has a "shape" for it, ifrit just straight "monster" design for me, its really bad.
Best one is par between garuda and bahamut. Bahamut is pretty iconic so you cant go wrong with him, as for garuda... love the design and the cutscene seeing her first time is really awesome.
Leviathan... That fight is just so annoying. Not hard, necessarily. Just... annoying. Lakshmi's sort of annoying too, but at least the aesthetics and the music in her fight make up for it imo.
Ifirit, Ramuh, and Leviathan are all the same fight. Only Moggle Mog (which comes from V1.0) and Titan (who was almost in 1.0) have significantly different mechanics in the ARR set. Thus you play three of them exactly the same way. Beat on the primal, add phase stop all combat on the primal to remove adds, get light-enrage animation or enrage, continue beating on them to second add phase, stop beating on the primal to clear second round of adds, then defeat primal.
Shiva isn't that different, only lacking the "static adds" phase. Moggle Mog 's add phase is where all the mechanics are. Titan on the other hand is the least forgiving. Titan also has an add phase on Extreme, which is why Titan has to be defeated quickly, otherwise there is no room in the arena avoid the puddles.
The Warring Triad basically has Shiva's setup, where there is an easy mode followed the "real fight".
Altogether I think Shiva, Ravana and Tsukuyomi 's music timing set all the moods for their phased fights well.
So I'd say the least favorite, mechanics-wise is still Titan. Design-wise I think Ramuh has the least interesting design as he's all beard.
Anything I get three or more days in a row. I once had eleven days straight of Good King Moogle Mog, and I wanted to kill myself.
I know it's not a primal but RATH!!!! Why can I never find people who can clear this? It's been a MONTH and a half. I want to love this fight cause it's different, but all I seem to see is DEATH! I just want to get the mount on farm BEFORE next patch. It's so bad I'm willing to PAY people to stay with me in gil until I get the mount. T.T
Least favorite primal?
Well, in terms of fight design, probably Bismarck or Lakshmi. Lakshmi’s music and aesthetic at least made up for it being Vril: The Fight, but Bismarck was just boring, and I can’t think of any redeeming factor for it.
Its gonna have to be either Bismark or Leviathan. They are both boring and they have a mechanic that if you mess up you wipe. And I have been in one too many lackluster parties where Leviathan's shield is missed (even if I am a tank I now literally just book it to the thing) or the harpoons are missed on Bismark making life hell. Or no limit break on its back, people falling off. Just ugh.
Lakshmi, by far. While I did like her theme, the fight is easily one of the worst in the game. She essentially plays like a demo for the Duty Action button. Ironically, her normal mode encounter is arguably harder than "extreme" due to level sync. Bismarck wasn't great either since it ultimately boils down to popping a giant pimple.
I'd say Zurvan due to how easily his fight falls apart. Alas, it's more half the playerbase can't skip Soar because it required basic knowledge of your job.
I rarely find any music I hate, anywhere. There's music I find annoying or boring, but Shiva's second phase music is so awful that I lose my mind every time I go into that fight for WT. I don't care if I eventually have a complete orchestration list except for that song. But yeah, primal I hate the most is Shiva and only because of the music. Bismark may have a boring fight but at least I don't want to tear my eardrums out.
Tsukuyomi. Gameplay she has some issues, and she tends to be one of the most common fights i come in progress to or see abandoned. She's just murder on newbies, to the point where you should watch a video if you are a new healer on it, or switch to dps or tank. She's also designed to prevent carries, as lunacy acts as a death check, dooming the raid if enough people are on the floor. Thematically she's great, though.
Tie between Ifrt/Ramuh/Mog. Instant death mechanics are outdated.
All the Stormblood Primals annoyed me in pretty much the same way (Sussano, Lakshmi, Shinryu, Tsukuyomi), due to the stupid QTE mechanic they all had. To me Quick Time Events are the bane of gaming, as they amount to pretty much "button mash X when we say so to not wipe!" rather than any form of skill or tactical ability. At least failing the QTEs did not necessarily mean a full wipe, but it usually did.
Personally I feel QTEs don't really belong in an RPG, at least not in the middle of a battle, certainly not in a boss battle, as they're more suited to straight action games (I mean, the whole concept came from interactive movie games like Dragon's Lair and Road Avenger so it's hardly new, but lately it seems like modern game companies like SE have gained some kind of newfound obsession with the idea). Ah well, I guess it could be considered a kind of anti-bot feature, but it's still frustrating to players like me who are too busy trying to keep the party alive to worry about some action gimmick that appears on the screen, as it's just unnecessary complications to battles that are already becoming increasingly complicated mechanic wise.
Until recently I always hated Shiva. It was quite literally the hardest fight in the game for me for a long time. Even harder than ARR coils.
The reason i hated it and found it so difficult was I'm Protanopic (colour blind) and literally everything in that fight was invisible to me because it was all the same colour telegraph blended in with the arena floor and were invisible.
The clour blind filters they added recently are amazing and everything in that fight is much more visible and easier to see. Even if I've only ever landed normal mode in trials a few times since then it's amazing.
Excluding that probably nidhog ex. I dunno I just never really enjoyed that fight. Probably because of the way nidhog kept cropping up in the story just kinda felt like "not again ffs"
I think they mean both? I guess I can understand it to an extent—the Active Time Maneveur was cute in A11 and in Shinryu, but overuse of a cute gimmick eventually leads to annoyance. I don’t think Tsukuyomi has either an ATM or a Duty Action though; just an intermission with adds.
I forgot to add in my first post, even though he’s not a primal, I really dislike the fall phase of Byakko. Like the ATMs, it was cute the first time, but farming for the mount and now it’s just tediuous, and I no longer find it cute.
The solo instance for Lakshmi at Ala Mhigo has a repeated button press Active Time Maneuver event.
Back on topic, I find the absolute order/justice thing of Thordan and Zurvan really bland. Doesn't help with the following 2 details either:
1. Thordan being like the very Ascians, Primals, and Dragons he longed to destroy in the event they get in his way.
2. Zurvan having the "Skip Soar or Disband" meme and the "Broken Seal" in Extreme that breaks pugs more than I can count.
Almost was going to say Ifrit, but decided on Titan.
Ifrit's theme is pretty generic foreboding boss music compared to everything else that would come after, but since he was the 1st, I'll give him a pass. Titan's last phase music is just my least favorite genre.
It doesn't help that I will always remember the trial as not playing nicely with a lot of players because of the early growing pains of the game with lag/netcode/ping/RNGesus/whatever you blame it on.
