Secondary Spawn Condition for Pagos NMs

A random mob of another species needs to be killed, in addition to a number of mobs of a set species.

Mobs other than those usually associated with NMs are required in addition to the usual mobs

1. Six hours into an instance, one small group was doing crabs, another was doing worms. There were about 15 people total in the instance. I killed about two to three Zombie Wyverns and the worm spawned and after it was the crab king. Neither had spawned in the six hours prior.

2. After I was the only one left in the instance, I spawned King Igloo after killing a single Mirror Knight. King Igloo was off cooldown for a while. I let King Igloo expire. I was going to attempt to spawn Anapos with random mobs, but decided to wait a minute after Igloo in case it was blocking another NM. In that minute, the billygoat NM spawned.

3. New instance with few players. I killed 26 water sprites and switched to Matamata. Anapos spawned within three kills.

All spawns were as the mob died. The theory makes much sense where Cassie spawns are concernced: Cassie wouldn't spawn because the other mob wasn't being killed. How many groups kill Chimera or Griffins?

The community can compare data to determine further specifics.

In this one, there are only four other players in the instance and they weren't killing anything.

Going to refine it to: Mobs other than those usually associated with NMs are required in addition to the usual mobs

Wild speculation/ no proof for the following: The lvl and possibly the element of these additional mobs play a part in how much a kill will contribute to progressing a spawn. I doubt it's just a number of mobs or you could have 35s clearing the lvl 20 mobs and spawn NMs faster.

It looks like the first NM to spawn in an instance is easier than the ones that follow, and there are frequent back-to-back NM spawns, where the second one spawns within a minute of the first dying.

I'm thinking there is some kind of priority system and possibly a reset of progress after NMs spawn.

I wouldn't bother with Cassie until more specifics are determined, but you should be able to increase chances of a spawn by (speculation):
1. Entering a fresh instance
2. Having a party or two focus on other high lvl mobs in the area while the main group does Morbols, or assist with Morbols to start and branch off
3. Having everyone else in the instance ignore NM mobs so they don't accidentally spawn one

1/144, didn't start killing demons until a few minutes after the 2hr cd was up. Spawned within 10 kills. Compare how it spawns to the other two clips linked

Interesting. I had a similar feeling when killing non-NM spawner monsters.

Sure but it can be worth exploring theories and testing many times to gather data.

That explain why never seen Cassie ever spawn. No one ever kills griffins by the morbols. Last time tried to spawn Cassie in new instance we killed over 600 morbols and never spawned.

I figure it's more like hunt spawning, where fulfilling the condition doesn't always spawn the monster immediately, there may be some built in randomness that keeps them from spawning or there could be other things such as weather that contribute to it. I'm just saying that one must be mindful of claiming a causal link due to "A happening when I do B". I actually believe the source of "this spawns that" in Eureka comes from datamining more than direct evidence, otherwise there would be no way that a tracker with spawn monsters would have been available the second day the content was live.

Yes, exploring theories is fine, but the initial post was stated as "you must kill this additional monster for this NM to spawn because I had this anecdotal experience where it happened that way." It's fine to post the hypothesis as such, but you can't claim it as truth until it has been rigorously verified.

I think they are being misquoted, it was just the anecdote and then they used the word 'theory', didn't state as fact. I'm reading it as proposing something to be verified.

Probably a coincidence, but a group I was in was chaining Puk's, while there was another group chaining Yukinko's. An instance I was in before was mass killing Yukinko's and the NM never spawned, whereas in this one it spawned roughly after my group got a chain of 30 on them (unsure if anyone killed the walrus mobs).

Same group was also chain killing those Demon things that spawn Taxim, but he never spawned throughout the night. Next night, though, he spawned (after Anapos died). Maybe you also need to kill the Mantis mobs, or he spawns after that NM? /shrug

I did find it really weird that when my group was doing bunnies, 2 NMs suddenly spawned at once right after the bunny fate ended. It could just be coincidence, or maybe there really is a hidden algorithm that spawns NMs if things other than the NM spawning mobs are being killed.

Anapos also spawned during Thunderstorm weather, roughly 10-15 minutes after the water sprites disappeared.

Had Anapos spawn about 15 or 20 minutes after the requisite weather for Snowmelt Sprites was gone.

Additionally, we've had an instance where Billygoats didn't spawn their NM despite us spending around 40 minutes farming them. It was 100% surely ready to respawn, too.

Update the OP with some info. I have another example or two, but the instance wasn't as dead, so there would be more variables. I'm 99% certain other mobs are required. Another example or two in a dead instance will have it at 100%.

I suppose I may just be unlucky but I haven't seen a single case of Cassie spawning and I've been in and out of Pagos since it was first added to the game. It definitely feels like it's the NM with the weirdest/toughest requirements.
