"Support Desk" Question on violation

I have a question what is defined as bad behavior
I was doing EX roulette and the tank was pull-happy, healer was unable to catch up- wiped twice but shortly after I suddenly was taken into world again "You have been dismissed from the group"
When the tank got tired of his terrible tanking he excused himself with "let's not pull big then" whereas I of course have to open my big mouth and add a joke "I don't mind either way. I am a living macro rotating same buttons while watching youtube"

(it's a good RDM joke!)
So I was thinking maybe they did not find my humor amusing and kicked me for believing I was..magically surviving while macro-managing?(ha)
Being upset, hurt(but made myself laugh again)I don't think it's something to report but the rudeness is so unsettling I even asked them in tell despite from other servers what it was for, and none had the balls to answer.
Would this even be considered violation..I feel hurt tho!

Just an FYI, but you cannot send or respond to cross-server tells to anyone not on your friend’s list; you can only send them to people registered in Party Finder, but ironically they cannot reply to you unless you are on their friend’s list. Also, if they were in a duty, then the tells would have been blocked anyways as tells cannot be sent or received in duties.

As for the topic, I mean, I hope you’re joking about using macros and watching YouTube in a duty. After two wipes, the joke could have been interpreted as being made in very poor taste, especially if you were the healer. Not sure if it would really warrant a kick, but I would probably not be too thrilled if my healer told me they were using macros and watching YT after we had wiped twice.

It's an RDM rotation joke! Of course I was joking. I was the only survival during the 2 wipes, and I was mana curing too!

If he didn’t try to raise people that died, they could have been a bit salty over it. Or they were in no mood for jokes after two wipes/thought he was trolling? There’s really a myriad of reasons, and without more to really go on, it’s difficult to say what their motivation was. Don’t really think it warrants a kick, but that’s me.

People are allowed to dismiss someone for "difference in playstyle". Unless they insulted you or told you in chat that they would dismiss you because they didnt like your face, they were in their right to kick you if they felt your playstyle didnt match theirs.

Your so called "joke" also comes off to me as if you werent paying attention, when you totally should have. Specially in a run thats having issues already, indicating that you're semi-afk isnt the best idea. To me that kind of behaviour already seems rude, to be honest - neither they nor I know if you've really been watching youtube and hitting macros (...please dont - never use macros for skills, unless it is to inform your party that you used said skill), but it gives out the vibe of "I dont care if I'm here or not". Depending on my mood - and on how well you played before - I would have probably dismissed you too. With the mindset off "Okay, if that guy wants to watch Youtube-videos... lets do him the favour of getting him out of here so he can focus his attention on that."

The fact that you sended them a /tell later could actually earn you a report, as far as I'm aware - for harrassment. Obviously that depends on how you worded it though...

Bottomline: As long as they weren insulting you directly, they can remove you from the group and dungeon with the reason of "playstyle" not matching.

And since I know that will spark a discussion about wether or not "difference in playstyle" is a good and legit reason to kick someone, here are my two cents:
Yes, yes it is. We need it to remove people who make runs hell - healers not healing, tanks despite being asked to use their tank-abilities not tanking, horrible DPS (the famous ice-mage!).
Bit extreme in this case, but if someone is giving me the impression that they dont care about the run, I'll just assume that they'd rather be doing something else...

I know someone that plays rdm purely to prevent these situations. She says she pays close attention to the party list and if the healer is unable to keep up she heals. Depending on the situation, what was said, how the run went, she prob would kick someone for making that comment, it really depends what happened before leading up to it though. Some people pay close attention and really work to make the runs as smooth as possible and if run is not going well while she is working extra hard, that can be seen as a big insult.

As for not responding to your tells, assuming they are on the same server, well, that is how the game is, people are less social in general in ffxiv.

It doesn’t come across as “joking that you’re watching Youtube” but rather as “watching YouTube and joking about it” instead of paying proper attention to the fight.

Rightly or wrongly, if the fight is going badly and then someone declares that they’re not even trying, people are going to assume they’re at least part of the problem. And/or they might not want to carry “the YouTube watcher” through the fight while having to put in even more effort because someone else isn’t.

Well, I would've cracked a smile at that...definitely not warranting a kick IMO but who knows..some folks are touchy about humor.

There is a time and place to try your humor on people. Good rule of thumb - best not to joke playing by macro while watching YouTube after the group has wiped two times in a dungeon where a single wipe rarely happens.

Sighs...Cuz XI was turned into a casual mess to keep sub numbers up.

And the MMO that has alot of the lv75 era hardcore rules is still being held hostage behind sales of a particular two games....a MMO SE also develops and services. Thus id have to learn japanese for 2 years just to play it.

And Private Emu servers are a no go for me, rather not lose my progression and time put in whenever the owner has a really bad day and decides to take it out on his own server, or it just ups and stops one day.

Sighs, welp, guess ill have to purchase those two games to show support. Fun fact, that other MMO SE has, is something Yoshi-P helps produces and develops, and it has more Japanese players on it than XIV does.

On this point, do you have your chat log set up so you might not have received an error message saying something like "your message was not sent because the player is not on your friends list"? Because I'm pretty sure that's all you'll normally get if you try to send /tells to random people. It's quite likely they never received your message.

And yes I seen players with miqote voice 5 kicked too, 7 times so far. One of em was even a tank!

Let me raise you this scenario then:

You've waited for your queue to pop! 20 minutes, 30 minutes... 40 minutes! Yeah! Finally! Doma Castle, its happening!

But... what is that? Ohoh... the tank has like 15k HP... you check the gear - Jesus! There is even some Ironworks left there! A second ring is missing, the weapon is the ilvl180 one you could get at the end of 3.0! Never the less hes attempting big pulls - and already dying on the way between group one and two. Not even the best healer could keep up when normal mobs are one-shoting that guy whos never heard of a cooldown in his life, apparently. Its very clear that you wont be able to finish this dungeon in an enjoyable and timely matter for all of you, because of that tank, who isnt afk, offline or calling you names. Infact, hes staying silent, not reacting to anything you say from "Dont you have better gear you could use?" to "Please turn on your tankstance at least!"
But you know that there are people online... friends - in your FC, in your Linkshells. Decent tanks. Well-geared. Able to do a decent run of Doma-castle... for the three of you, who waited for 20, 30, 40 minutes to get in here. If you could just remove that useless tank...!
Yes, you could leave if you dont want to play with them - and see your 40 minutes queue go to waste because of one person, while you and the two others are completly capable of running the dungeon (give you have a proper party-set-up).

I've seen situations like that - maybe less extreme, but all including undergeard, uncooperative people in any kind of content, from a healer in Sastasha NM who would literally not cast cure to people not having finished their level 70 jobquests and therefor lacking the 290 gear and important skills in Post-Shinryu content - far, far more often than "abusive votekicks".

I have kicked and replaced people in dungeons who werent willing or able to perform to reasonable expectations the group had and it made all those runs way more sucessful and enjoyable for everyone involved.

If an unjustified kick happens, that is very unfortunate and I truely feel sorry for the person that has been removed without a proper reason - but I also feel sorry for the group that is stuck with a terrible tank/healer/dps thats disruptive with or without noticing it. And in my personal experience and from all that I've been reading on the forums (do you know that "share a DF-story-thread"?) and heard from friends, thats happening far, far more often.

Kicking cuz of bad gear is fine, thats a difference in Playstyle. Even though he somehow met the minimum Ilv requirement, he was wearing crap that he should not have. Regardless, thats what the minimum Ilv requirement is for in most cases. Kicking because of being unable to learn to do the encounter, or just not skilled enough, that is fine, thats a difference in play style. And its situations like that when the rule is properly enforced.

But when you get kicked, due to being a Miqo 5 or a Race they dont like or some other completely B.S reason, and they even stated to you the reason. The GM will not care, difference of playstyle, they can say in their defense something like "Her voice is too high pitched and distracting, I should not have to turn off my volume to deal with it, will make it harder to play" thus, difference in playstyle. It can also be unfair for being kicked spite doing everything correctly, but the other guys are severely lacking and making up B.S about it.

So many loopholes. But thats the world we live in, a world of loopholes. Once again, the GMs are not incompetent, they just do the minimal work required because they are not well paid Moderators like you see from other mmos. But kids straight out of highschool getting paid the minimum, only there to work on getting into another position in the company or to take advantage of the many programs SE offers regarding Video Game Creation.

Thats why in the end, if you can do stuff with lsmates or friends or people you know, its always best. Until they fix this problematic kicking system somehow, its always going to be abused, like many other things in the game, and the GMs will always, do the bare minimum, and find any excuse period according to their guidelines to reduce work to a minimum.

Thats what your 9.99 to 21.99 a month is going into. Deal with it.

I also was a BLM by the way and the issue was tank's huge pull and no respect for the healer able to catch up
But I have manaward, and we had an RDM in there. (plot twist)

anyway - my point of the topic got interesting. You guys say basically it is okay for someone to kick someone for playing their class not accordingly that would benefit themselves.

I feel different about this (and the discussion continues)... (Also I play NA server, not knowing English is your own problem: English is my 4th language)

Doesn't sound like anyone did anything worth reporting based on what you say. You may not like having been kicked, but if someone initiated a vote kick because you made a joke and the vote kick passes, that's the group's prerogative. It's not worth dwelling on.

I ran into this situation a couple of weeks back where someone sent me a cross-world tell for a PF I was leading. After scratching my head for a bit trying to figure out how to respond to their question, I finally remembered about /r. Turns out that does work in such cases.
