I was watching the Mr Happy videos and the fights looks amazing, any chance we can have a normal mode for that? For the casuals? Please xD.

It is called ultima's bane and is accessible at lv50. /sarcasm
The whole point of all those fun mechanics is to make the fight hard and yet epic.
I mean the only thing keeping casuals from doing savage and ultimate is excuses of claiming to be casuals and not being good enough when getting "good enough" is a matter of practicing your rotation on a dummy evrry now and zhen and after that just practicing a fight. But getting good is a term that got villianized to prevent "elitism", because god forbid the average player learns to optimize at least half their ki.
We do. Ultima Normal (MSQ Story) and Ultima Extreme (Minstrel's Ballad - Ultima's Bane) already exist. If you want them to be a challenge, do them sync'd.
Here, you can have this...

Lol, sorry. Poor taste in humor aside, that's the whole point of the Ultimate raid. Hardcore challenge for Hardcore players. If you want to try it, wait till 6.0 then you can solo the fight.
There are two casual versions:
1. "Praetorium" for super casuals
2. "The Minstrel's Ballad: Ultima's Bane" for not so casuals
Also casual only means less time invested, not low skill level.
Even casuals can clear and have cleared O8S to unlock the UwU.
I don't think I'll clear UwU. But I like the game better when I have something to work on anyways.
It definitely looks like a fun fight but it has that much going on because it's meant to be hard. I don't think they could make all those mechanics work together for an easy version of the fight.
At some point in the future, no doubt when the next expansion comes, both Ultimate Bahamut and Refrain will probably have an option to unsync and considering some lvl 70 players still have issues with Sephirot and Nidhogg mechs, the ultimates shouldn't lose too much difficulty at all.
BCoB was the Alexander/Delta/Sigmascape to ARR.
Unending is there to be a pure challenge and finish for bragging rights, not progression in terms of gear. (Which are inherently easier to finish than the Ultimate fights, which exist... literally only to be a tough challenge of a fight).
If they made it unsyncable, the entire point of the content's existence is lost.
Yeah, it is called Ultima's bane.
I think we should just make the entire game ez mode and hand all our money over to SE
/s
They stated that Ultimate fights won't become Unsync-able. If they change their mind...who knows?
Ultimate fights sync iLvl as well. UCoB is iLvl sync'd to 345.
Basically, these fights are meant to persist indefinitely as the most difficult to complete content in the game.
They are not meant for everyone.
I sincerely hope not. Ultimate exists purely as a challenge, and while those who clear before 5.0 won't lose that sense of accomplishment, it does cheapen Ultimate somewhat if come 5.4, everyone can push through it. Granted, the sheer mechanical vomit will likely prevent people from clearing even with ten full levels above them.
Cmon, let the dedicated raiders have their one thing. Might motivate people to improve and raid to experience those fights themselves.
I actually love this content as it is and I hope it's never accessible to casuals, including myself.
Watching people do these, I've kinda wanted to give it a try.
The savage content has been made easy for us, the extreme trials too, so what do the hardcore raiders get? They get fights built off of content that we have already gotten.
Let them have their one thing.
They're a cakewalk because people complained, they were nerfed into the ground. They were not as easy as they are not on release, even with gear.
Oh definitely understand where you are coming from, but I just can't see it staying as synced content forever. I mean eventually players will be able to unsync the Omega Savage raids to unlock these Ultimate duties anyway so the requirement for actually unlocking them means already there isn't much sense of accomplishment don't you think?
Considering how well the ultimate duties are being received I could only guess we'll regularly get more in the future to satisfy hardcore raiders. And besides, the new expacs may bring further combat changes which could make previous raids somewhat easier in some degree so who knows.
It's called Garuda Normal, Titan Normal, Ifrit Normal, and Praetorium. Have fun with those.
From my view, ultimate already is easy mode. If it's supposed to be hard:
No pre-made parties allowed
Mechanics are completely random.
Parsers and voice chat don't work. (impossible to happen obviously)
Let's see people finish that.
I think the real issues are twofold:
1: Look at Lv60 Machinist. If Lv80 breaks some jobs like for 70 like 70 did to 60, then synched down the fights just won't even be possible in a lot of comps.
2: Because of the way synch works, which I wish it didn't, when you synch from any iLv to any iLv all of your materia gets nulled. This used to not be a big issue because even g5 materia only gave minimal substat increases; now we're looking at people losing almost literally thousands of substat unless they make ultima specific gearsets out of sometimes obscure and stupid to get gear.
I hope they rework synch rules so that materia doesn't get nulled out, and I hope that the challenge remains intact whatever they do in the future.
Threads like this just makes me more and more glad that ultimate is locked behind their relevant savage tiers.
When the ultimate series was announced yoshi stated it would have an ilv sync to preserve the difficulty through the expansion. However I don't believe any mention of unsyncing it later was made; I doubt we'll get any info on that before 5.0.
There is a difference between Lvl sync and iLvl sync.
You can Lvl sync down to lvl 50 in lvl 70 gear and your stats will sync down to lvl50 max gear stats (ilvl 135). If you are going into First Coil, that raid was tuned around ilvl80 - 90 gear. Even lvl Sync'd, you are WAY overgeared.
This is besides the fact that all the Coil raids were nerfed to hell because VERY few people could prog them. Twintania caused more Raid teams to shatter than a bull in a china shop.
Ultimate fights will sync your Level AND your iLevel, basically ensuring you can NEVER out-gear the fight.
If Ultimate is such easy mode, I look forward to your world first clear then.
Parsers and voice chat callouts don't do the mechanics for you, nor do they give you the personal skill needed to perform your job at a level where the DPS needed to meet the checks is met. This post is incredibly ignorant.
Ok, i see now. Thanks for the clarification, I didnt know the iLev was a hard sync for the Ultimate fights.
I really hope they keep it that way and dont decide to dumb it down, I know I'm already ticked that a lot of the "unique" gear I thought I had is now totally common or a cash shop item.
You know, I say let's do to these ultimate fights what happened with PvP rewards. So when 4.5 drops, make UCOB inacessible forevermore (maybe UwU too, so that only the latest ultimate can be accessed). And keep this rotation going so at any one time there's only 2 Ultimate's accessible at any one time (at most, I'd prefer only one). I think that's likely to make people git gud. Since you have to be quick or else you'll miss out on the content. Because then if an ultimate inspires you, you gotta work pretty fast to be able to access it for yourself.
I really hope you're joking. I'm all for Ultimate being forever synced/ilvl synced, but inaccessible? No. My UCoB static fell apart when we were on Blackfire/Fellruin because of some drama with the leader. Why should the others be punished for them being a diva?
Yeah, no. That wouldn't inspire anyone but simply demoralize people who either couldn't get a group together fast enough or simply attempted it later. No mention, it's a complete waste of resources. A mount being forever lost is nothing to the sheer amount of wasted dollars essentially closing an entire fight. Even if Ultimate remains forever synced, people will still attempt it. And if they clear in 5.0, they deserve just as much fanfare for those clearing in 4.1 onward.
Used to be the terms hardcore and casual in terms of gamers only referred to the amount of time someone actually plays a game. It had no actual bearing on skill level. As such you had hardcore gamers that just sucked at the game and casual gamers that had a skill level higher than most hardcore players.
Would be nice to build a time machine and stab the people in the eye that started using it as an excuse not to improve as a player.
Could be either way. It was meant as a bit of a joke (like how PvPers have complained about PvErs complaining about PvP rewards), but as far as the PvPers are concerned, there could be merit in my idea. I can't speak for them though, so I won't say whether or not they see merit in the idea.
But what about those duties they've added for things like the valentine's event that can't be accessed ever again? Isn't there already precedent there for doing that? Now granted it's not on the scale of an ultimate fight but it has happened already in the game. And does this sort of limited reward time demoralise them in PvP, or is it something else that's reducing morale?
