i would love to see a benchmark for 2.0 to test my system would others of you like to see the same.
yes, I would really like it myself
Mhh I would love a benchmark as well, actully nvm i just want the game to come out !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't wait to see the trailer in e3 this year.
Benchmark will probably be made after E3 and release around September 2012 when they start sending out the 2.0 client
Would be nice surprise if they did add a benchmark at same time when E3 is going on lol
It would defiantly be nice for players to see how well the new client renders and how well it will run on their current systems. As people have stated above its unlikely we will get a benchmark until after E3 and probably not that long before the game goes 2.0. I know i'm looking forward to E3 to hopefully see the new game engine in action and thats a good 5 months away.
let's us test it now SE and i will for ever love you :0 just give us a little tease :)
I'd really like a 2.0 demo/benchmark.
I played the 1.0 benchmark so many times just to see that scene.
wait a second... this thread has already existed.

yes please
I freaking hate you man, i came here thinking OMFG they have a benchmark 2.0 out YES!!! and its only someone asking for one <,< you have risen my hopes and dashed them quite expertly sir
They can only make a benchmark after they finished the new client, or not?
Meh, this is feeding my twitch to get myself a laptop that can handle FFXIV, even if only on the lowest of the low settings. I remember when the original benchmark came out I was so psyched X)
(Already have a desktop that runs the game just fine, but I have long periods of time where I'm not at home and have free time/wifi access)
Seig I'm the same! I want to play on the go. But I want a 15" laptop. I've been looking for ages. Still don't know what to go with.
If 2.0 is supposed to be more resource efficient, I would assume that anyone currently playing would be able to squeeze more performance using their current rigs. Still, a new benchmark would certainly be useful to people considering to subscribe when it comes out.
I was always told that 2.0 will be more resource efficient, but not in the way most people think. I was always told that the way the coding is and the way the servers are set up is that the game cant take full use of certain GPU's and will be reworked to use more than just a singlethread. So people will see there computer using more resources than it is now is what im thinking, because the game needs more, but its currently impossible to give the game all the resources it needs as it is currently set up.Quote:

If that is the case it will be more resource efficient but not in the way people are thinking.
Fully support the idea of a benchmark 2.0
*Devs please chime in
Well from what I remember from a Yoshi post he said that everybody would experience the same graphics if they had at least the recommended requirements but better rigs or the requirement of more resources would only affect things of the nature of draw distance and how many items or sprites on the screen at once.
What he meant was if you have the basic recommended requirements, you can only see say 50 sprites on the screen at once and maybe 20 metres into the distance, whereas if I have max settings I can see 150 sprites loaded at once and maybe 100m into the distance, but the quality of our graphics would be the same.
Didn't they say their aim with 2.0 is to make it EASIER for computers to run? (By making areas smaller and less draining, it would make it EASIER to play on computers.) I don't necessarily think this will make a HUGE difference, but it might make it so people who run it at standard quality now can put it to full quality, or people who get a very low frame rate will be able to make it a higher one.
In addition to making the game 'better' overall, 2.0 is also aimed at the new influx of PS3 people we will be receiving. Although PS3 is 'top of the line' as far as current console standards, FFXIV currently requires more power than the PS3 can currently handle. Remember, PS3 parts are OLD. It's been at least 4 years since it hit the market. Part of this overhaul is going to be to make it easier to play on the PS3 without sacrificing too much quality.
So, the 2.0 client will be a blessing to most people on the PC. To make it more accessible to the general populace, they need to keep it looking good while also making it not impossibly hard to run. It's not good for business if people want to play the game and their computer can't handle it (while they can handle other games on low or medium settings without any problems... such as, their MMO competitors).
Long story short: Although a benchmark will be a cool idea (to see how much performance has changed from 1.0 to 2.0), I doubt any of us will 'need' it to make sure our machines can play 2.0. Making it HARDER to process the 2.0 update will be a step backward, in the wrong direction.
The reason there making zones smaller is due to memory issues, the PS3 only has 512MB of RAM and the current areas are too big and require everything loading into the memory, smaller zones = less RAM issues and smaller memory draws.
By standing in Ul'dah i'm using 960MB of my 6950HD's RAM so you can see the problem this created on smaller memory machines (I'm talking about GPU RAM NOT system RAM)
Yes, please.
I know that these version 2.0 benchmark threads have been popping up on occasion and we've finally obtained confirmation for you guys, thank you for your patience.
Yoshida wanted to let you know that we will be releasing an awesome benchmark for version 2.0 and to look forward to it!
Courel has spoken! Can't wait
If I didn't love you enough before, I love you more now Rukkirii. <3.<3
Sweet!
