The only thing I would support would be allowing previous rewards be purchasable with the voucher for top100 rankings. Each new reward would just get put into the pool of rewards when the season is over and players could choose which one they want to get. This would prevent that some mounts and outfits will be lost over the years.
You don't need practice for ranked, the majority jumps just in anyway why should you bother. I think you overestimate the time you need for a good ranking, if you tryhard 1 day with the role that gets fastest pops you could get 1k points, now matches even take 2min less than before so it should be even more. So with 2 pvp days you could be in top100 for the rest of the season. Time is not an real issue.
If you really want it easy I would just play in the next (8.) season, the rewards will most likely be the same again, just reskins, not many are motivated to get it again once they have it.
Here we go with these request again.
No
It wouldn’t be much of a contest if everybody got their hands on the same grand prize...
You'll find most of us are also in full-time work or education. This excuse is so old. Three days I didn't even play this week because I was so tired I did one PvE roulette then went straight to bed - if you actually watch the ladder in the season, you'll find not everyone in the top 100 plays daily.Quote:
However, I work full time so I really don't have time to farm PvP exclusively to get anywhere near the high ranking and when I do play the queues are pretty slow.
You've had an entire preseason to do this; a pre-season where I actually whined about the length because it has gone on for like a month+. Preseason ranked is pretty much practice anyway barely anyone actually played their main role for the whole thing, and there were plenty of names that I have never seen before (hence why practice queues are dead).Quote:
I'd like to get tons of practice in before jumping into ranked (as I don't wanna let the team down) but it's hard sometimes when I can only play certain evenings (aside from raid).
On that note, no. The incentive to play ranked right now is already really bad, for example I didn't want to play enough to reach top 100 back in HW because I was pushing for R1 in WoW instead; so all that was left to play for were tier titles I already owned and jewellery I already had; they've only just made it worth my while to play every season; even if I don't commit. Why make it any worse just to appease you? That is selfish.
Let me buy them with wolf marks. At least that way I can work TOWARD a goal -- even if I have to wait and work toward my prize little by little, I know that eventually my efforts will pay off.
I also agree with this. I work 8:30 to 5:30 on weekdays and pull overtime two out of those 5 days, sometimes also working on saturdays.
Full time is not an excuse if I can hit top 100 with only a ranged class which, we all know, has literally the worst queue times out of all the classes.
Again, not much of a contest if everyone gets their hand on the same prize that participated.
Considering how few people bother to show up for Ranked Feast in the first place, calling it "much" of a contest is a stretch either way.
It's a slice of a contest. And that's also why it's quite compatible with full-time jobs - the more hardcore people aren't competing in the first place. When people hear of top 100, they think:"Top 100 in like 80k people on my data center, how on earth should I be able to compete with the most hardcore 1-2%?", when in reality, top 100 is probably more like the top 10-20% of the competing population or something and that population isn't recruited from the most hardcore either. So people's fears tend to be far overblown.
Personally, I don't consider the rewards worth putting up with Feast. Maybe if SE were to pay me 20$ an hour, I would. But even then, there are jobs that are more enjoyable and can pay the same >_>
Just play the season and actually try and attempt to get top 100 and you'll get your mount
You don't deserve the reward or a alternative to the reward if you didn't work and earn for it. So you shouldn't come to the forums and request or ask for a alternative for something you not going to put effort into obtaining.
@OP There are plenty of people who have full time jobs and are able to get top 100. Maybe you should think of it this way. Top 100 isn't a time investment, it is a skill investment and reflects how good you are in the game.
Hopefully that was enlightening to you. Top 100 rewards were meant to be exclusive for those who deserved/earned it and they will stay that way.
If PVP gets to keep their exclusivity, then I wish that the top Grand Company ranked players (in Frontlines), the top Free Companies per data center, the top Deep Dungeon Players and the World First players also got items that no one else could have.
But for some reason, they don't.
While I support the avaliability of Top 100 Feast reward by other means (like they did with the weapons but for everything instead) doing it for 8v8s or as participation/win rewards are terrible ideas.
Well, the idea is to make people put up with Feast for it. As such, the whole point is to make it something desirable so you overcome your disgust of the mode in order to try and get a shiny.
If they only put up medals like in real life competitions, that wouldn't work. People laugh at the accessories.
I mean, it still doesn't work all too well, because most people consider it waaay out of reach and don't even try. But bad products kinda need good promotions.
So you're saying the gameplay is, inherently, not enjoyable, and they need to coax players into it with time-limited exclusive items and rewards based purely on ranking? I think they have a bigger issue on their hands than the debate between players over whether or not exclusive rewards like mounts, gear, housing items, etc... should be limited.
The Feast is not enjoyable and Zojha nailed it on the head. I personally have never participated in any feast tournaments because I do feel it would be way out of reach. I participated in TT tournament for example and I didn't even place in the top 40 when I won 17/20 matches. But if you look at the winners they are 10/20 wins to losses.
If feast was enjoyable as a whole then SE wouldn't even need to give out mounts. Mounts are an enticement to participate.
The Feast gets maybe one or two items or so every patch, usually not even functional items like a mount or real gear, just a glamour set to look at and then a reskin of the same set as of the last few seasons. They did a reskin of the old hellhound mount reward, and will probably just reskin the current mount again. Ultimately, we get about one reward per season, but they'll just offer the same reward again as a reskin for the following season.
If you don't count reskins, it's a new reward only every other season. Including the longer preseason times, it's actually not much, certainly not out of the ordinary for any PvP game.
I wonder if E-sports tournaments would be better off if they removed the hefty grand prizes? Maybe the organizers could save some money if they just made their game funner.
I'm just waiting for whiners to demand gear design contest rewards too. It isn't FAIR that I have to draw as good as these people to have a noble chocobo. SE PLEASE FIX

Why don't they remove the rewards/title from ultimate coil, people play it just for fun!!! Said no person ever. You fail to realize that a huge point to a rpg is working to improve your character in some way, and rewards are part of that. TBH, why don't they just make everyone wear the same armor and be done with it? Since everything is is done for fun only right?
Also, just because it isn't fun for you doesn't mean anything. Not everything in this game is MADE JUST FOR YOU. I don't particularly play PVE does that mean it shouldn't be relevant? Stop being so entitled to absolutely everything.
I didn’t even bother to read what you said when I saw the title
A bold NO would be enough
Hypercasuals want everything available to them!!!!!!! > : ((((((
It's not even a matter of hypercasuals. I'm trying to discuss on why the game keeps trying to get more people into PvP by still having the same amount of rewards distribuited every season? If the game grow shouldn't the amount of rewards follow it somehow? Those are the questions I been trying to tackle around the two threads about this subject. On top of that many many PvP players been unhappy with the ranking system for a while now so why keep adding big rewards to a system that doesn't work properly. I'm all pro exclusive rewards for high ranked players, I just can't understand SE's decisions.
100 per datacenter is fine, you don't understand how much of a joke it actually is. Realistically there is an immense skill gap in the top 100, so literally anyone can go for top 90 or 80 very easily, they just need to join a PvP discord, have an open mind, improve, and it's easy as that.
As for SE's decision making, we don't question it omegalul
I how it isn't very hard if you're skilled enough. I was half bad on Season two and finished 1 point below the 100th. But my point is not the effort it takes, is how the amount of rewards isn't following the supposed/expected influx of new players and how SE keeps shoving good rewards on a system everyone hates. I can't agree that rewards are still fine at 100 per datacenter when the game have recently gained new servers to accomodate more players. I do whowhever agree with you that people don't really wanna learn PvP and want easy rewards. I don't want that to happen either, just like you, I'm mostly taking advtange of the uproar to have people rethink about how SE is handling the PvP content instead of mindless banter.
I can probably hedge a guess you don't play Feast or anything of the sort. Bots don't make it to top 100 in feast. You can count the number of true cheaters on one hand. It's highly convenient for someone who doesn't play PVP to say most of the top 100 are bots and cheaters.
It would be like me making the claim that most of the savage sigmascape and ultimate clears were cleared using ungarmax.
Anyways, stop making excuses about your lack of skill or will to actually PVP. Not everything is made for you
Many of the top 100 are really good players that put time into the game. Don't devalue their efforts even if the system is easily abusive. Taking advantage of a bad system is not cheating either. Can it even be called abuse if it simply follows how the system works?
Ohh they absolutely do. There's a software program out there that actually tells you when someone's about to burst damage. They add a profile for healing and the thing spits out heals faster than a human can hit keystrokes. I've seen them hack to where the character sprints indefinitely with no cool-downs. They're usually queued up at like 3am.
Although it's not a bot like those same ones that teleport around the place - it's still using third party programs to gain a competitive advantage that exploits the game.
And FWIW, I don't think Feast ranked items should be obtainable with simple Wolf Marks. Wolf Marks are a joke. Put some effort into actually playing the Feast and get a rank.
With enough Wolf Collars, you should be able to buy past rewards in time. For example, 3 wolf collars per armor piece. That means you'd need 15 wolf collars for the whole Eaglebeak set. 15 collars is equal to Diamond rank or 5 seasons of Bronze if you prefer to play with one hand tied behind your back and blindfolded :) Even if someone has very limited time to play, they can still work toward it without sacrificing their whole life.
Right now, it's all about who has the most time to throw at Feast to the exclusion of everything else. Something needs to counterbalance the points growth - like a much shorter season time frame .
alright then, which will you be queueing for first tomorrow, eureka or feast?
I never said to make rewards for everyone. I want to,earn it over time with wolf collars, which require winning feast matches.
In the wise words of Yoshi himself, "you need to calm down."
Why should you be able to earn the same reward people had to get top 100 for with a simple time investment? Everyone can win feast matches, you actually don't lose points until you reach bronze.
The simple fact is you want the same reward people work hard for for relatively nothing. It's sad. Just stop.
If the top 100 all got there by sheer skill alone, you wouldn't hear any argument from me. Many did, but not all.
Many worked hard. But many others also blatantly cheated and hacked and traded their way up there. And they continue to do so.
And you know what the worst part is? Gating much-requested rewards behind a mode that is plainly broken, plainly exploitable and plainly disliked for those reasons by the majority of the player base.
Go back to trophies and titles and see who stays.
"People cheat, therefore everything should be made easier for me to get."
Do you think Ultimate Coil Weapons and titles should be achievable through a easier method due to the fact "many" people used the Ungarmax bug? should everyone get 100million gil for free since "many" people use RMT?
"We requested it, therefore we are entitled to it"
