If Dancing Mad isn't the battle music for his fight I will be dissapointed.
I mean it was in the patch trailer so it definitely should be. I just hope it's a music drop as well. I have a mighty need.
And I think they played the entirety of the Dancing Mad theme during the Live Letter.
Savage only, maybe?
Savage should drop the orchestrion
I hope it's not savage only. Normal still needs to get Neo Exdeath, it's not good practice to have special bonus bosses for savage only while it remains so hard to get a static which can reach these bosses and party finder groups remain so bad.
I literally pugged 1-4 Savage with different groups via PF every week and was clearing 4s by the 3rd week that way, so I'm not sure what you are talking about. I hate people that complain about stuff being "locked" behind savage content that they cant clear. So instead of saying "i suck" or "I didnt try very hard" or "I didnt try at all" they just blame SE

You already dont have to put any effort in to experince the story, which used to be one of the incentives to raid coil. What more do you want??
Now they want the savage only fight portions, then they will want the dyeable gear, then the same ilvl. They want everything and try act like the fight just being harder is the only thing raiders need and nothing else.
Good grief, let the people who put so much more effort into the game have that one thing people. If they made the superbosses in the easy-mode it would honestly kinda be a disservice to them, having them makes those savage fights more special and cool, not to mention it is so much more fitting for them to be actually hard content and not more throwaway bosses.
edit: also, alexander lacked a lot of incentive. Just difficulty and gear wasn't enough when all we get is 4 fights per 6 months. The superboss fights add a good bit of spice. In fact neo exdeath is what kicked me into actually getting into raiding because I wanted to do it for that fight. Now with kefka ccoming I am even more hyped to get into it.
of course it doesn't help there much to use the fancy gear in either.
Yeah they'll want one thing, then go for the next. I'm a casual as heck raider, as in, I almost never do it but I do have some of the easier ones cleared. I would like to fight Neo Exdeath but know I'm not good enough to do savage proper, believe me I've tried. I just mostly ignore it, rather than ask SE to give me those fights anyway.
In my view, as Neo Exdeath is the FINAL BOSS of FFV, he's supposed to be very difficult so it fits for him to be in savage. Do I like it? No as I can't fight him but I know he's not content meant for me and I just deal with it.
The answer to that differs from person to person. A big incentive for me to raid Coil was to find out more of the story, and 3.0 kind of took that away, with the normal version of Alexander/Omega being so easy. While Neo Exdeath doesn't exactly add to the story, it's still a breath of fresh air to be fighting something new, on a more difficult level.
The likelihood of Dancing Mad not being part of a battle with Kefka here...to call it minuscule would be an understatement.
Whether it’s savage only or not remains to be seen/heard. I would not be surprised if it was, and as someone who doesn’t care to try and schedule raiding into my game time, I’m ok with that. If they go that route, having the music roll as a guaranteed drop so raiders could sell it would be cool.
I wonder since the name "dancing mad" has already been used in ff14 as a boss move... calofistiri in the end of weeping city uses it as her ultimate attack
Makes no difference. Dancing Mad isn't a Monster or NPC name, It's music. The orchestration scroll can be called Dancing Mad easily if their ends up being one. This isn't like the name changing shenanigans that had to happen with the final bosses of Labyrinth of the Ancient and Crystal Tower when they first came out.
Does the music playing during the fight on normal or savage even matter?
It'll be up on youtube a few hours after patch hits.
Just open it up in your web browser, loop it, and turn off the in-game music if you want it on normal (Assuming, of course, that it isn't in normal)
I do believe it's a bad move in general to have Normal and Extreme/Savage content so different. Including music differences. But the one thing in this game that irks me the most is that normal mode literally has missing mechanics and in the case of Raids, missing phases. In my opinion, normal modes should have everything that Savage/Extreme modes have, but the damage taken is just reduced and time to react to certain things extended. Because when you think about it, a reason people might avoid doing Extreme/Savage content is simply because it adds new stuff they haven't seen before along with taking higher amounts of damage or having to react a lot faster to certain things.
My point is that normal shouldn't be so dumbed down and easy as it currently is. If what I've explained above became true, normal modes could even be a good mode to practicing certain phases of a fight. You'd be able to quickly get to the point in the fight you're not sure about and observe what's going on with less stress. I think this would breed better players in general.
Half of the mechanics in savage don't really even 'do damage' so much as one-shot people. Even failing that, I'd laugh hysterically trying to get a group of random Normal level players to try and do Grand Cross Omega even half-correctly.
The mechanics are simplified for good reason. Having an easy mode and a hard mode is one of the oldest common threads of gaming out there.
If Normal and Savage mode shared the exact same mechanics (with damage being the only difference), then hardcore (maybe even some/most midcore) players would get pretty bored of Savage really damn quickly. Heck, it could potentially make it so Savage is cleared within a day :T
Am I exaggerating? Most likely, but there's a reason why SE made Story mode easy (Binding Coil of Bahamut. Fantastic story, but at the time of its release, only some could experience it).
Now imagine if Normal and Savage shared all the same mechanics (with differences being instant deaths = somewhat big damage). That 16 hours could potentially be even less.
I feel I should mention that bosses like Kefka are not super bosses. As final bosses, they are made more difficult than conventional boss fights, but are far from being any kind of savage difficulty. I totally agree that making them pushovers would be a disservice to the lore surrounding the boss, but slapping them in savage only would be a disservice to the fans who don't participate in that content. While incentive to do savage content is a good thing, it wouldn't be accurate to say that all players, which includes fans of FFVI, are capable of putting in the time and/or performing at the skill level required.
I honestly don't get why anyone would oppose both normal and hard modes for this encounter.
I like how the thread got derailed after three posts when the OP was just wondering if Kefka's theme would be in his fight. I mean that'd be silly for it NOT to be but ok it is a valid question I suppose. The tougher versions of fights have almost always had the orchestrion roll which isn't what the main question was about, at least if I was reading it correctly. Then it devolved into debating difficulty and mechanics and who should get what for which amount of effort!
It shouldn't surprise you. I'm actually more surprised that there aren't at least a dozen derailed threads about Kefka. :p
But yes, I would imagine that the fight will feature some variation of Dancing Mad. I wouldn't expect all four movements, but I think we can definitely "look forward to it".
In before savage four phases.
I hope the theme is Dancing Mad as well. Love listening to it in the Distant Worlds album.
Fun anecdote: Apparently the song is so long (and so good) because Uematsu just forgot to stop working on it. Lol.
Well, the first and last phases of Dancing Mad are very audibly in the 4.2 trailer. I hardly think they would have gone through the effort of doing an arrangement for the sole purpose of being in the trailer alone. And since we also heard an arrangement of the Phantom Train theme, it's very likely that'll play during that fight, with the first three phases of Dancing Mad being split up among the subsequent bosses (the final phase likely playing against Kefka's god form in the final savage fight).
I'm so extremely happy that SE has finally put our most favorite and memorable villain in the game but idk i feel it was a bit sudden to put this iconic character to the game but also make sense in the omega raid. But still i'm looking forward for the savage one on Kefka i just have the faith it will be insanely chaotic since you people know the very nature of this nutjob!
Y'know, I have a feeling that maybe, just maybe, Normal mode will also include the "climb" to Kefka. Savage mode may or may not get a new fight, but if it does, it might be something that isn't like Neo Exdeath (Exdeath has two forms. Kefka does as well, but his final form is final boss only, while normal form is before the World of Ruin).
I'm thinking that either Kaiser Dragon could appear, or the Warring Triad appears, fighting "with" Kefka (who will remain at 1% HP until you beat the three Eikons), who could be shouting/pointing at who to attack and such.
