Do an easy 60 dungeon where you have your whole kit. The Anti Tower comes to mind. It's practically impossible to wipe in with even a basic level of competence because things barely tap even a poorly geared group.
squad missions
Great Gubal Library HM is a great training ground. Tanks speed through it, it does some solid damage, and you to practice healing/damage during mechanics in some cases.
Question, did you buy a job skip for the class? Or are you just worried to play it after awhile away? No shame if it's the former, but if it is I would recommend actually doing a lower level dungeon first to get the hang of the class. It plays very differently from the other healers and if you go into it with a typical healer mindset you're only going to make more grief for yourself. Though if it's the latter you'll mostly like what SB has to give you. Excogitation is a god send.
I dunno about SCH, but I know when I finally got my AST to the 60s, I started doing the HM dungeons for HW. Those are usually when you see the tanks going all out as far as dropping tank stance, mass pulling, and DPS doing DF DPS things. That will really test your healing abilities and how to adjust to pretty much anything. Trials aren't too bad, either.
ah zephy again... all have to said is: It's a trap !
And this is why you don't level purely in PoTD for every single job
In other words, it's the 15+min queues, coupled with the HW/SB hunts, and Kojin beast tribe, and FATEs. Those are the easiest ways to continuously get EXP on any DPS class going into a roulette.
Anytime I queue up for something as DPS, I go do beast tribes(currently doing Ixal to finish getting all my crafters to 50 easily), and I typically finish all 12 Ixal by the time I get to spot #4 in the queue. That gives me time to switch, organize my armoury chest(like to keep new things at the last slot so that I can easily move them to inventory for GC turn in), and be ready for whatever the roulette hands me.
I take it you are unfamiliar with Zexy's http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...-even-after-60 thread.
It has been worked out that even with a 20 minute wait, dungeon exp works out better even without fates or leves etc added in. This being for all levels.
No, but my first comment was tied, and that one was a reply to another post.
In fact, this thread was only created because of another thread talking about a similar deal was already going on, and instead of posting within that one he had to create another thread. He's baiting replies because of his rep and hoping for comments based on his mentor status again.
As someone with very little confidence in their ability to be an attentive healer while also dpsing, I find it's best to throw yourself in and learn by doing. By 60 (or whatever level range you're working at) you should have at least a rough grasp of your capabilities and skills and how they work together, the only thing lacking is experience and you get experience by performing the task. Expect a few deaths or a handful of wipes at first because that's how you learn and get better and soon enough it'll all be second nature
Ironically I've been repeatedly going through some dungeons for gear to desynth to raise my levels. You can easily go through the AntiTower without even healing, so it's probably a bit too easy. even with one of the worst groups I had (they weren't that bad either) I just stopped long enough to throw an adlo on some and kept DPSing.
Saint Mocianne Arboretum, especially with one of the strategies tanks do to get pass the trash, would be a decent one to learn too.
even in a topic where she is asking a legitamate question about being nervous in healing, people who dislike her STILL find a way to jump into the topics and harass her.
So many pathetic people in this game.
So the context behind his threads are missed again. It's not just that this was a Zexy post, it's that this was created while an almost identical thread was going on already. Instead of posting or reading through it, he creates an entirely new one. He has done this a number of times, and as his posting history has proven, it's entirely bait and his questions are never serious. He will turn around and go on about how great of a healer he is in another one in a few days because of the shiny crown next to his name in the game, which is what he has again done before.. Fairly sure he gloated about his healing before too.
There are reasons he was kicked from Faerie's Novice Network.
Well most of the time I only read the thread name, not who created it before clicking on it. Though you know, you didn't really have to say anything either or could of just posted based on the false question, so I could say you also have a likeness towards arguing with a post such as that. Maybe we are pathetic for posting in her bait threads, but then blindly white knighting without knowing the context I also see as pathetic.
oh trust me, i dont care about the context, as far as im concerned, this is its own thread, unrelated to you and your spat with them elseewhere, and it should be treated as such, but because you like to bite and go into a completely different thread just to talk down to them, you see where the issue lies.
Sure i could have not joined the thread, and i could have not posted, which is most likely what ill do in the future anyway, i just felt the need to let the people here know how pathetic they are for taking an arguement from another thread and bringing it to this one.
I pray your tanks pull the mobs/bosses out of your Shadowflare like you did to me the other day. If you even use Shadowflare.
:)
I know this sounds weird, but run Alliance Raid Roulette. If you get any of the Crystal Tower raids or Void Ark, people burn through it so fast it isn't funny. Try practicing there. I am not a great healer at all but I learned a good bit from it leveling WHM.
Scholar is one of my favourite classes and find it easier than the other healers. Putting succour on the group and adloqium on the tank really helps with damage and gives me the freedom to cast broil 2 and miasma 2 on monsters. Also the fairy has that “heal 60% more” spell which can be really useful. :) as long as you manage your aetherflow properly you don’t run out of mana. I like Indomitability for fast group healing and Lustrate for emergency tank heals. Just go for it, what’s the worst that could happen? Besides the stormblood dungeons are really fun. :)
wow ty this is the kind of advise I needed. you are a classy player :) I went into "The Sirensong Sea did everything as you said completed it and got a commendation. Everything you said worked and now I have the confidence to continue. Once again thank you so very much. :)
Alright. Overall SCH was one of the classes that was changed the least as of/ this current patch cycle/. Most of the omissions were patched out, or balanced to be less punishing than they were before when SB dropped. It's really a different beast compared to the beginning to SB where it was a pure nightmare to level. About the only thing that you really need to know is that macros are what make this class shine and with a properly macro'd faerie you can take on pretty much everything.
I'm not on my main PC right now so I can't copy and paste my own list, but here's a thread where people provided macros for you to try: https://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/wiki/Scholar_Macros
https://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comme...cholar_macros/
There's also a case to be made for mouse over macros and both of the Savage SCH's I'm friends with live by them. However I'd start small and see if you like macros in general to begin with before delving further. You don't /need/ them. However they do make tackling the sheer button bloat and faerie commanding a little easier, but don't feel bad if they aren't for you.
Other handy tips are:
-Pair Rouse and Whispering Dawn for a tremendous DoT.
-Use Adlo on the tank then Deployment tactics it to everyone nearby at the start of a boss room pull. DT has a short range, but it's handy for getting a crit shield out to those who might need it.
-Miasma 2 is your best friend, but be careful /never/ to spam it if you aren't sure your mana can handle it.
-Excogitation is like a giant shield that insta-heals when the target when their health dips below 50%. This skill is a godsend and the best part of your new kit. I like to keep it on the tank at all times if I can spare the aetherflow.
-Chain Stratagem increases the Crit Rate by 15% for 15 seconds on whatever enemy you place it on. It has a long cooldown but when it proc's, oh god is it fun to see.
-Aetherpact forces your faerie to put out a continuous heal on a single target, using up the fey union gauge which is built by using aetherflow actions. I'm personally not a fan of it because I've found macro'ing can near replicate it's affect, but it does have it's uses and can take some stress off your shoulders.
-Use Bane once you've set up all your damage dots on a single enemy so they can spread to nearby enemies and save yourself the hassle. Never use it if there's only one target.
-Never, ever keep your faerie on Sic. Make sure that each time you log back into the game she's on Obey and execute her actions yourself. Eos and Selene have terrible AI and it's even /worse/ when you let them do whatever they want.
-Remember you're a preventative healer, not a reactive one. SCH doesn't have the sheer healing power of either WHM or AST and we rely on anticipating then nullifying damage before it even happens. Best thing I can tell you is to learn the dungeons and fights intimately so that shielding becomes second nature.
Hope that helps!
does it help? it is incredible, very useful, and makes me want to cry out of shear joy .. thank you so very much
