As much as I would love a kitten option, Balmung exists, so no
They're Miqote, so you can play as their race - but children. And we wont get children as PCs for pretty obvious reasons - has been requested, discussed and been denied before.
This game needs less Kawaii not more
Yeah, I don't think children should be made into a playable option. What could be kinda fun though would be to introduce the costume system** like they had in XI.
There were a bunch of various types bats, worms, fleas, and they also had costumes that would turn you into child versions of the playable races. You couldn't do anything besides run around while under the costume effect, so that could keep the children safe in XIV if carried over. :P
**These weren't actually glamour sets, but random foods/items would transform your character into random things. https://www.bg-wiki.com/bg/Costume
This topic tends to either loop, or spiral into other things. So I hope I can simplify it by saying:
There. That should cover most of the big stuff.
- Khloe's a Miqo'te. Miqo'te as a race are already playable, and are generally assumed by appearance and mannerisms to be of adult age.
- Much of the story content puts you in situations meant for adults, and it would make little sense and flag censors if a child were in said situations.
- Yes, she's adorable. But don't let "cute" override "practical". We don't live or do things fit for children.
- Lalafell - the ones playable - are also generally assumed by appearance and mannerisms to be of adult age. Some may like to role play otherwise, but again, all else beyond personal head canons and player-made role plays makes them as adults. There's what you think, what you want to think, then there's how it is.
- "Cute/Kawaii" is subjective, and what one may like, others may not. People love Moogles, Carbuncles, and Paissas and think they're cute. I do not. I don't hate them, but the visual appeal does not strike me. I am not wrong for this, and others are not wrong to think differently. Respecting that difference is simply part of coexisting in an online environment.
Micah, you are using the latest cutesy hairstyle. Galaktica, you are sporting the summer Faire Joi which is right up there as well. Seems you both are dabbling with the more kawaii items that were released recently.
I'm all for being against the kids, but the 'no more kawaii' reasoning seems a bit weak. :X
It's almost as if cute is subjective. For what it's worth, I don't associate a dual-bun hairstyle with a standard look adults would go for. This would be something kids wear, or those going for a cutesy/carefree style.
Perhaps it would be someone's head-cannon that they are an abandoned child who has to grow up on the streets defending themselves. Give them the 'dirty face' make-up. Dress-em in rags. BAM! Bad-ass child fighter.
Kids don't have to be kawaii, just like your dual-buns. As you said, it's all about context.
And for the record, I am still against adding kids as playable characters. I just find "no more kawaii' to not hold much weight.
Yeah no. Children should not be playable, as it kinda breaks immersion and maybe even lore. Currently we only have teenagers capable of handling the terrors of war and death (and there's only a handful of them and they're exclusively NPC's), suddenly making children playable just... it just doesn't work in my mind. A whole bunch of children mentally capable of dealing with war, near death experiences, unimaginable horrors that would even traumatise adults... it's stupid to me. Don't even get me started on children being First Lieutenants of Grand Companies (I cannot picture a squadron being happy about their leader being a child).
Oh okay, so we're doing this. I use the summer Faire Joi on two of my outfits, this specific case was for my MNK glamour which was designed around an MMA outfit and because Square Enix, in their infinite wisdom, made it so classes have to share gear, my SAM is stuck with the outfit and I hate it because it thematically does not fit what I envisioned for my SAM.
But even setting that aside, no more kawaii =/= no kawaii at all. In previous threads, I've stated numerous times that I do not mind cute/kawaii stuff. In fact, I like it. Personally, my problem is the game keeps heading more and more in that direction. Add a cute outfit or two, I'll wear it (obviously), but I don't think that's all that should be added. Add Viera or another cute waifu race for all I care, sure whatever, but for the love of god do it after we get something that's not "cute."
I would like them to branch out instead of doubling down.
Or think about Haurchefaunt and Aymerics invitation to dinner - both would be pretty weird if the character in question is a child. Even if the person playing that character might not mind, the overall image of the game could be hurt.
So yeah - children as characters just shouldnt be a thing... for lore, story and... other reasons.
Edit: Just rememberd the quest where Godbert asks you to rub oil all over his naked body - awkward enough for an adult, pretty much out of the question for a child...
Not certain if this sarcasm or not (my failing), if in the event it isn't, I agree completely. One need only at many quest themes to understand a child would have no place in story. Just Look up a few...
Level 15 quest Sastasha

Level 52 quest For all the knights to come

Lastly OP, you need only be honest about what you want and say out loud your request, "I want to play as a child." Use that for the the forum thread name.
No sarcasm, though my tone of voice (or text in this case?) does occasionally come off as such.
My point was just to point out the ridiculousness of such a general statement, while personally using items that most would say tip the scale on the cute-level. I'm not going on the attack, so no need to brace for anything.
And I get your point above, however none of that was fleshed out in what I quoted earlier. SE (currently) seems to favor races looking pretty and cute vs. rough and more fierce. Look at the Au Ra treatment. The concept art for the females looked pretty awesome (imo), but a vastly different version was released. It could very well be that more rugged looks just don't fit with their aesthetic, or maybe it just doesn't sell well. This is obviously all speculation as I have no bloody idea what is going on with those people.
Never, please and thank you.
What.... ? Hell no !
No, because if they did implement this, I just know we'd get people doing shit that would make me go on a vampire-hunt, Buffy-style.
I suppose a better word would be pedo-hunt, but I'll get back to you when we have a popular TV show about people hunting down sexual predators.
I would like this, just say they're immortal vampires or something like that.
OP, just say it like it is. You want to be able to play as a child.
Because it makes my job of having to tell you "No, because pedophilia is a thing" that much easier
khloe surely is miqote, but shes younger and more cute. it isnt rly a statement to make her not playable.
and idk wahts your problem bcs its cute and a "kid" wahts ur problems with children ingame?^^
and why you say no?
i mean, you dont have to play it im sure there people would like to play. so you dont want it into the game to let other people have fun with it? selfish.
Did you miss the "Pedophilia is a thing"-argument right above your post?
If so: Pedophilia is a thing, so no children in game.
Violence against children is also a problem - and there is violence against our character in the story (or in PvP aswell), so it better not be a child.
The overall story isnt suited for a child to be the main-character - we have provided you with several examples why thats the case. So on top of players doing unspeakable things with child-characters, the game, story and lore arent suited for a child being the hero.
You might only think about how "cute" she is, but think about the PR-deasters for SE if they had to deal with child-abuse in the game.
Think about how certain scenes with Haurchefaunt, Aymeric or Godbert would play out with a child...
Actually think about the game and the story it tells and then ask yourself if a child should go through what your character went through.
If the OP were actually capable of thinking, this thread would never have been made in the first place. With some people, you just need to punch them in the face and move on.
Also:
Selfish? It's selfish to want to discourage the abuse of children? It's selfish to disapprove of a child doing the things that the WoL does? It's selfish to consider how something like this could affect other people?
If this is your definition of selfish, then I am very glad to be selfish and absolutely nothing like you, because you are either an incredibly short-sighted person, or a sick and twisted monster who wants to be able to prey on children without facing consequences.
Khloe is not a race, it is a kid
So no, it will not show up as a playable race
The only thing I want from Khloe (and other Miqo’te kittens) is the option to have a small, bobcat-like tail.
I think that's all that has to be said to the child topic in my opinion. Thanks ThirdChild_ZKI ^^

Really? but we have too much humans with tails and ears already...
Because it doesn't make sense, as well as other reasons people already brought up.
Her race is already playable.
No she is ridiculous
I'd rather not have this game BANNED in multiple countries if it's alright with you..
Asking for Khloe's design as playable race is like asking for Alphinaud's design as playable.
Both have existing race (Miqo'te and Elezen) and people wanted the 'smaller' version
Just ask for a Lala’te. ....Miqofell?
