List of what got worse after the patches [Feedback Topic]
Hello, adventurers.
With all the patches released there're so many things that improved since launch.
In this Topic, however, I would like to bring to the attention of the dev team some of the features that in my opinion got worse, hoping in an answer or in a future fix or improvement. Who else feels like listing his/her contructive opinion on what he/she thinks got worse is welcome. :)
1. Lines of macros skipped
After patch 1.20, there's been an increase in the speed of macros related to equipping gear; however, this came with a cost, as I noticed that sometimes certain lines of the macro, probably due to the increase in speed, are skipped. Something was strange when I was fighting as Pugilist with Linen Gaiters (crafter's equipment) on more than one occasion, that's when I realized the issue, that I never had in the past.
Now I often have to press the same macro 3 or 4 times, because not all the lines work and not all the gear is equipped at once.
It doesn't matter the area where I am (normal or server processed), nor if I'm standing or moving: simply, many times the lines of macros are skipped.
Not a real problem to me pressing the same macro three times, but considering the average patience of other, possibly new adventurers, I think this should be fixed soon.
Chances to have it return to work properly by 1.21?
2. “Queing of gathering starting action”
After (I think) patch 1.19, the “queing of actions” for Disciples of the Land got worse. I'm talking about the action, be it “Fish”, “Log” or “Mine”, when you select it from the Main Menu or by targeting the gathering point: in the past, if I ceased gathering, the moment, for instance, that I put away my pickaxe, when I was still putting it away, I could select “Mine” and it automatically drew it back, ready to mine again. Now I've to wait that the tool is in my back and only then the command works; even if I target the mining point and press “Confirm” multiple times, it doesn't work... Actually, this seems to slow down the process even more.
If you're asking “Why do you put away your tool while gathering?”, it's simple: I do gathering because I like to do it, and I do it when I really feel like doing it; so I take my Regional Leves and, for the ones requiring to take 3 specific types of ore/log/fish, I try to activate Sweat of Brow, but not until some time has passed. This way, I can enjoy the leve and the relaxing music for at least 25 minutes.
However, certain times I recognize the sweet spot of the specific material of the leve from the Remainder Gauge, so I cease gathering and start again.
Of course, this problem could be instantly solved if the 3 specific materials in Fieldcraft Leves would only appear in a single specific spot. This way, no more “ceasing gathering” would be necessary: I know Straight Mahogany Logs only and only appear at the +3 sweet spot, so, since that day I feel like spending a good 25 minutes gathering with that music, I go at -2 and aim for Rosewood Logs/Branches.
If this could be implemented, it would be Great, but until then I'd like to have the response time of gathering starting actions as it was prior to patch 1.19. There's no need to slow down the response times after all the improvements made on them.
3. Loot List icon removed from the top of the screen
For some reason the Loot List flashing icon was removed... Now it appears very little in the micro menu. I think it will be enlarged, but that's not my point.
After patch 1.20, the +3 items are no longer obtainable. However, I've aaaall the ones hardly earned in my 14 moons in Eorzea that I was waiting to use until the HQ mechanics revamps scheduled for 1.20 (and postponed to 1.21; I'm talking about the real deal: using HQ materials that ensure a HQ result.).
Therefore, with all the new +1 items, I had a big increase in inventory space, as I don't feel like throwing away the old +3 ones. For this reason, it happened that while I was gathering, not seeing the flashing Loot List icon (the micro menu disappears while gathering), I lost +1 gathered materials because I had full inventory without realizing it.
So, would it be possible to have the Loot List icon back and have it flash even while you're gathering or crafting?

Also, after patch 1.19 I started to have again big amounts of lag in certain areas of the city-states, like when exiting the Market Wards or when entering the Adventurers' Guilds, with the other characters not appearing if not after 2-4 seconds. Before patch 1.19 I wasn't having this issue in a long time... Anyway, just pointing it out, I know nothing can be done about it until the new server network arrives.
So the 3 above are my points. If other adventurers agree with those or would like to let the dev team know their opinion on what they think got worse after the patches, please do so in this Topic.
Thanks, community reps, if you could forward these feedbacks and eventually let me know (particularly on the first two points).

Gathering actions, quests and lines of macros skipped

The leve target is always going to be in the same spot during the approach phase (assuming sufficient level and gathering stat). Figure out where that is, and chop as far away from it as you can. You'll fail to gather the leve item, and voila, you don't have to put your tool away.
This is exacty what I do in Fieldcraft Leves that require obtaining the 3 specific items: for instance, with High-Quality Obsidian (found at +4) I place myself at -5, but this doesn't ensure that I won't find it, and so certain times I still find the item even if I'm at the opposite sweet spot. That's why, when I understand I'm about to obtain one of the 3 items, I put away my tool. But in the past, putting it away and drawing it back took me around 5 seconds, now it can take up to 15 because of the changes in the response times.
I would really like if, if I place myself at a far away sweet spot, I couldn't obtain one of the specific items, so I can make the Fieldcraft Leve last as much as I want.
Anyway, this aside, I still don't understand why the so-called “queuing of actions” was slowed down. This is similar to what happened to the battle system, but that was fixed back in 1.20 with a Text Command.
I know levequests are meant to be done quickly, but as I like gathering so much with that music, I would like to have them last as much as I want, like I always did, as atypical as it may be. ;)
An improvement (restore to how it was before, actually) in the response times wouldn't hurt, anyway.
To answer the adventurer Seif above: I know that unfortunately many Eorzeans skip through the text of quests, but there're also some who read it all. I, for one, also save the whole dialogues as screenshots at the end of the quest (Putting all filters on and widening the chat log). :D
It really depends on the approach: I did the level 36 Alchemist quest not for Hand of the Gods, but because I really enjoyed that storyline.
Like Arcell above said, a few quests also hints at something: through the old “Moonstruck” sidequest in Wineport, linking what I had learned there with Cid's at that time single line “Meteor”, I was already suspecting Dalamud would fall on us.
“Of Archons and Muses” is another small, but very interesting sidequest.
Also, there're the minor ones, like the ones with Marcette: it depends how many adventurers might care about learning more on the monsters of Eorzea. I, for one, being a Disciple of the Land, liked those. :)
And some, like the ones involving Lonsygg :D, are also fun.
Let us hope more will be introduced, with the Great cinematic storytelling of the Grand Company ones.
And now, back to my first point...

I've action queuing on and I'm sure it wasn't like this before. Really, no one noticed that after patch 1.20 there was an increase in speed in gear-equipping macros, and certain times lines are skipped? Prior to patch 1.20, I changed my sets countless times and the only time lines were skipped was if I was in one of the server processed zones (the ones where you see other adventurers' names graying out); but if I was still or running on the map or chocobo, I never had this issue, I'm sure.
And adding another line “/wait 1” doesn't seem a solution to me: there're only 10 lines in each macro, 6-7 occupied by gear-changing lines, and by the way, I wouldn't understand why I should modify my macros if they always worked fine prior to patch 1.20...
...Ahh, thanks Kiara! Actually someone else noticed this! It was the most evident thing to me after patch 1.20 and I was surprised no one brought it up yet...!
