As the title says I have some questions about the new crafting ability's, and the 2 star crafting recipes stats (and to a extent the gathering stats).
First question: Patient Touch. Tooltip says: Increases quality> Addition effect: Increases Inner quiet stacks by one (up to 11) when successful, halves stacks upon failure</b>.
This is rubbish right? when would you ever risks your inner quiet stacks like this?
Question 2: ATM I am using HQ level 70 gear no melds(left side). And full melded Ironworks on the right side.
My stats are Craft 1240, Control 1130 and CP 412.
I am worried I do not have the money to meld my right and left side (I have made the HQ Zelkova gear), just to get the stats needed to make the Ala Mhigan gear for my crafts and gathering. Because I would have to remeld all the right side again to make the 3 star stuff when that comes out.
So This is what I am thinking is it worth it to get the Level 300 yellow scrips gear for the WVR, LTW , BSM and ARM. Then I am make the Ala Mhigan gear and hold off on the melds in till we know what stats are needed.
Question 3: More or less the same question as above but for gathering.Get the level 300 yellow scrips gear and meld the Gazelleskin gear to get the mats needed to make the Ala Mhigan gear?
Stats for gathering is Gathering: 1028, Perception 1028 and GP 670. (Unmelded HQ Level 70 left side and fully melded Ironworks right side.)

First Question's Answer:
Tooltip says "additional effect". Thus this is an effect that is ON TOP of the IQ+1 which you would have gotten from any touches. In other words, just like Precise Touch, each Patient Touch gives 2 stacks of IQ... at the risk of losing half of your whole IQ stack. For more details about this skill and other skills, you can visit: Caimie's Crafting Guide (Part 4 Stormblood) Ch53. I have ALL the new and old revamped skills listed and explained there pretty clearly.
Second Question's Answer:
You are lacking a bit of stats for making i320 Ala Mhigan gear. The i320 are much harder than regular 2 star recipes. Regular 2 star recipes have been macro-solved using pure NQ mats. The new 2 star recipe isn't exactly macro-solved yet. We either rely on very long rotations or we macro but using a ton of expensive HQ mats. Anyway, to even do regular 2 star recipe, you need about 1330/1220. So you need to either acquire the i300 yellow scrip mainhand (I dont recommend getting the whole set of i300, as that is just as expensive as melding your whole i290 set), or do some melds on your i290 to reach that point, just to make regular 2 stars. 1330/1220 for the new 2 star recipes is "doable", but 412 CP is definitely falling short to be used for making the new 2 star recipe. I don't have an answer for you regarding CP. I mean obviously, melding your Zelkova accessories is gonna break your bank. But that CP is going to be quite useful for making Ala Mhigan gear. You can try doing it with your base 412 CP, and you might get lucky with it using the long MaMa rotation? Still, I think 412 is a bit short. Even for your mainhand, obtaining a i300 mainhand cost 1300 yellow scrips, which is much more than the 750 yellow scrips for obtaining an i325 ala mhigan mainhand, so you might as well use 750 scrips for the "alchemics" (an item exchanged using yellow scrips), and send all the mats to someone who can make you the i325 mainhand... And if you'r already doing this, you might as well, do it with the rest of your gear too...
Question 3's Answer:
As mentioned above, unless you have 460+ CP, it's rather difficult to reliably HQ the new 2 star recipes... What I am really afraid of, is whether they will release new accessories in the next patch... If they do, then melding your Zelkova now would be quite a disaster... To me, it seems likely that they will do so, since right now, everything is i320, but accessories and offhands are i290 only. But without that CP, you really have difficult tackling with the making of Ala Mhigan gear. Sorry, I don't have a good solution for you. -

I have stacks and stacks of HQ Tempura and all the HQ Teas so with that I can get to 479 CP plus I can use High level FC buffs if I plan ahead with my FC leader. Besides the 1330/1220 craft and control is there a magic CP number I should be thinking about?

Patient touch is worth using as the first quality increasing ability, that way you lose nothing on fail and get 2 stacks on success. Some people use it twice, or 3 times if the second time fails. I use to do this but it is somewhat risky and unless you are dependent on luck to reach 100% quality, it is much more reliable to only use it once.
Materia prices seem to be on the rise atm on adamantoise, idk about cactaur. I believe prices will continue to rise as more people acquire the new gear, so it's probably going to be expensive to meld at this point and in the near future, but it may be better to buy them now if you don't want to wait for prices to drop again. Alchemic prices are likely to go down, so if you need money for melds i would suggest you sell alchemics before the price plummets instead of getting yellow script gear. The yellow script gear is a waste at this point, I would not bother with any of it. The crafting gear market is pretty dry compared to what the battle gear market will be when new gear is added, prices will go down on crafter gear if there is a few hardcore crafters on your server. Better to sell yellow scripts and buy what you can not make yet imo. -

TC, re: melding, there IS the option of making your own Materia. Assuming you have the classes leveled for it, you can make the accessories (make them HQ) and toss a cheap materia into them. Then buy the NQ vendor-sold left side gear, tossing two materia (only one overmeld, being on the belt) onto them. Pick up the vendor-sold MH and OH (NQ, so two materia apiece) and just start crafting some component recipe, threads for example, or the Zelkova lumber. Convert everything and repeat, with two materia in the NQ and one in the HQ equipment, they’ll all SB at about the same rate.

Ok here is a bit of a up date. With the goal of 1330/1220 in mind I have melded my right side. On my specialist class, stat are Craft 1297, Control 1170 and CP 423. So with HQ Tempura and the CP tea my stats go to: Craft: 1350 and CP at 490( 505 with the specialist buff). So this leaves me to find 75 control. Now with some cheep melds in all the safe slots I can get to 1227 control.. And this is before I even use any FC buffs.
SO the next question is will these stats work? -

It is comfortably doable without, but this relies on luck with triggering the first 2 touches, and having enough ToT procs. If you haven't already, I really would suggest aiming to complete your crafting quests so you have access the OP ability that is Manipulation II. After that you'll find with a little more proper ability usage you should be good to go :)
EDIT: Don't use Piece by Piece without Steady Hand up. Also, you can save an additional 42 CP by using standard Waste Not. You're covering Waste Not II, for effectively 3 steps of the 8 it provides. Given that Maker's Mark removes the CP, and DUR cost of Flawless Synth. If you can get an additional 8 CP, whether it be from getting tricks of the trade procs, or doing a little melding then you can do a cheaper, but slightly less effective non-RNG rotation to what people here have proposed with Prudent :) If you don't have the gil to afford melds, then you may want to look at doing some gathering, and doing some red scrips for your crafter and spending them on Grade IV materia rather than getting from the marketboard :) -

(6) Try add in Ingen for the second round of Prudent spam. At IQ11, it will increase the power of each touch from 800-ish to 1400-ish.
(7) Your finisher Blessing phase is way off... Firstly, there's no need to use SH II, you can use SH. Secondly, you missed out Great Strides, which doubles the power. Thirdly, you missed Ingen2 (please visit this thread to find out why we need to use Ingen2: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...rk-Rotation%29)
(8) You can also try to use the "Miracle+Brow" approach which I clearly found to be stronger and discussed in the same thread (http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...rk-Rotation%29).
(9) Instead of finishing with a naked CS, you should be using CS III or CS II under the power of Ingen2.
I can usually push about ~26000 quality with the above approach (using similar craftsmanship and control as you, but a lot more CP than you). This rotation is of course RNG-based. But it hasn't failed me so far. -

Just a few points. I know I did not use the "Miracle+Brow" double finisher manly because I could not get it to work in the simulator. I am not sure if I am getting the goods needed to use Tricks. To get the CP back to pull it off.
second point in game I was able to use Tricks so I could get my CP back and was able to use Innovation in the rotation but I could not put it in the simulator.
And I now have full HQ crafting here but not the main or off hands. I will have to do them later after I make the gathering gear. -
