Why isn't this added for 51+? There is a lot of dangerous nodes for @level 51-60 in HW. A lot of unspoiled nodes have monsters too close to them and they hit too hard. 51+ is when Hp scaling starts to be an issue.

You could use stealth?
This is what stealth is for. I have never found a node I don't have space reasonably nearby to put up stealth and then walk up to it.
No it is not, stealth does not save you from being one shot??? and if stealth was the fix for this, why are they changing it to begin with? Plus you walk too slow in stealth anyways, it takes forever get to some nodes because of it, or you wait for something to move.
the change should be 51+ not 60+
I wasn't aware of any changes made to gathering gear or stealth and have always readied for mining in dangerous areas by using it BEFORE walking near the node. "Takes forever" is very much a personal opinion. Stealth lets you walk next to any enemy of approximately the same level and not be detected. Maybe you should be able to take a couple hits before dying, giving you a chance to run away but likely you'll run into other enemies and make it worse. By all means put vit on all the gatherer armor if you think it's a problem, but stealth is a viable option.

Just an hypothesys but maybe it's to avoid unwanted death caused by mobs' aoes while beign fought by other players nearby
Because adding attributes to gear isn't as easy as 1-2-3.
They thought about it and came to the conclusion that if players are going to have this issue, it's only going to arise with mobs that are lv 60-70.
Because of this logic they felt the best recourse would be to just add VIT to those pieces of gear rather than go through the entire catalog and make sure each piece of gear has VIT on it.
Adding VIT to gear isn't as easy as just saying "Set all DOL gear to have X VIT" because they have to manually go into each one and figure out the proper balance of VIT to add to each piece of gear for that level. It's very tedious for the end result being that people leveling DOL now will not die so quickly from 1-60.
I dont remember any of the HW mobs one shotting me whilst gathering I only noticed this in SB.
Going to be honest here, levelled botanist to 60 in HW and now levelled fisher to 70 in stormblood.

as some have said stealth is a thing. Flying exists... you can easily even go in to a node as battle class and then change to gatherer when safe ... I mean I could go on...
Indeed, in Heavensward the mobs were not near the nodes, but in Stormblood in the first two location, you already notice how close the mobs are to the nodes, which can result into deaths. I remember when SB was released and people could not progress, because of the duty finder error, they started leveling their gathering classes, then I started seeing people say: "My HP is too low! or I am getting one shotted.", so I can understand why SE would do the SB gear.
My main thought for this is I wish this had come out during Diadem, namely those times you can't stealth or fly and need to run by some mobs that will one shot you easily. Then you respawn with 0 gp and wind up out of the game for a couple minutes while you wait to get it back up.
I just wanted to note: This change (Vitality on Gatherer gear) is almost certainly in response to this thread which did gather a "We will look into it" response from the devs.
The problem is indeed being one- or two-shotted. In older areas if you draw aggro while gathering it was usually possible to run away until you had shaked off the mob. With one-shot attacks that is not possible.
No risk, no reward. Be more aware of your surroundings while gathering? Its pretty simple!
You can't even be damaged once you interact with the node anyway so whats the issue?
Yeah, you're not expected to tank the mob while you gather. That extra VIT helps for "oh shit" moments while performing said activity. I'm guessing the dev team realized that the damage dealt by the monsters surrounding the nodes vs the base gatherer class' hp was not very well balanced.
You have stealth for this exact reason. Is it too slow? Well, of course. Otherwise you would permanently be on stealth mode. There’s absolutely nothing wrong. Besides, it’s not like Vit will change something big on your health against mobs actually right lol
In HW, if a mob spotted me when flying, I could pull up and escape to safety. On the ground, I could run out of range and usually survive.
In SB, those dumb green clouds in The Peaks could one shot me out of the air with a lucky crit. Being spotted on the ground was basically a death sentence.
So yeah, SB has been way worse than HW. Looking forward to the vitality.
Because at the moment, there's less lvl60+ gear than lvl51+, so it was easier for them to make the change on stormblood gear.
But they might probably add it in the future.
its whatever now, it would been nice to have during HW, but new players could use it, it is just weird in concept how the HP scaling did not go up in proportion to monster damage, and SB even made it worse. hopefully the change is significant enough to be a significant difference.
I don't know, giving potential issues. I think it's a waste of time to do what you're asking. If they didn't address the tank accesory issue, locking the ilvl 51+ ones (or adding strenght to them), it's because it's more complex and requires more time than you think. They are focusing primarily on what's current (Aka Stormblood) and only making QoL tweaks on the older content.
Let's see ... back in HW.
Adamantine Node in Azys Lla,that magitek bit killed us in 4-6 hits but we could outrun them just fine.
Now in SB,The Lochs,Your lv70 gatherer can survive 1 hit from lv 69 mob if its not crit....
So vit from the gears will help you survive that one-shot crit and have enough time to outrun them but Be fast though.
As someone who was an avid logger in Mamook both before and after the addition of true sight mobs, I can't express how much this triggers me.
Stealth is good enough, holy hell. Gathering is probably one of the easiest things in this game.

Even if you have more HP and can survive a hit or two, you are still going to get screwed out of your unspoiled node, so it doesn't really make a difference.
I question this addition.
Then I remembered when I first did SB nodes and didn't notice certain monsters while I was still landing/ running by on a mount. I'd get hit for 70-90% of my HP. If I was on foot, my chocobo would save me most of the time. If nothing else, it's good for realizing the aggro range is on monsters when you land, but can't stealth immediately. Monsters are attuned for the battle classes, not the gatherers.
As for why not 51+, there's no need. You didn't get one shot by mobs in HW areas. Sure, you couldn't take damage like a battle class, but you lived long enough to get away. There's simply no need for the SE team to go back and make a tweak on this on all gathering gear from level 51 all the way up to 70.
Yeah this is just an oversight that I'm glad they caught now, as it would have just continued to be more of a problem further down the line anyway.
I just don't get it... some comments here saying about 1 hit or more hits.. how are you even getting hit?!?! ... if there are mobs around plan accordingly ... have some mobs around makes gathering a little bit different otherwise it is literally mindless spamming buttons. Use your eyes its not difficult ... it might be me but I really don't get what the complain is and some of these comments...
Sorry I don't want to seem "above you" but from my experience levelling 2 gathering classes I never found this issue
Generally speaking, it ISN’T an issue, as long as you excercise due caution. I’m not talking turn Stealth on at the zone line, that’s an over abundance of caution. But simply making sure to turn Stealth on before something notices you and attacks is easy. Of course it is slow - you have TWO GAME HOURS to get to the node and harvest from it.
Now, accidents happen. No one is perfect. But while SB mobs can one or two shot you, HW mobs outside Diadem were never that strong relative to the miner/botanist/fisher. So it makes a certain amount of sense to do it for SB gear, not for HW+SB gear.
Of course, as an above poster mentioned, it would have been nice to have had the Vit on the gear when Diadem was current content!
The world is supposed to be dangerous, and it only makes sense that if you put away your weapon to go harvest some crops, you might come across a bad time when a mob decides you're lookin' tasty.
It wasn't really an issue in ARR and HW like it is in SB. You don't have things like the gauntlet of bugs and trees to get to the river in the The Fringes.
That's why i wasn't for this. You give a thing, people scream it's not enough. -_-
