SE please read this comment "ALT problem on top100 feast"

Why not let Top100 actualy to be 100 different players and not let alt to participate.
Because right now some players can have the reward twice and steal spot of others players.
Like climb in solo was not already like a crazy roll of dice everyday, we still have to deal with alts.

I'm pretty new to the fold but from what I see on the forums, the devs and mods just don't care. You can go back 20+ pages and no one even acknowledges the problem exists, let alone update us on preventing it in the future. There is no way this will be taken seriously as a competitive platform.

There's a reason pvp still not claimed an esport. It is clear SE wants take it there but also clear that it will need some time. Just look at all the people with teleport hacks, I'm amazed the positioning relies on client side when pvp and server side when pve (I'm looking at all that Titan's slides I got when EU were still in NA soil...).

Cheating and all that stuff will always be existing in any game but needs be an exception, not a daily occurrence.

Questioning what SE does with PVP is useless. They have proven time and time again they either don't care or do not have a capable / large enough team.

Does anyone know if these same issues plague JP data centers? if not maybe SE doesn't realize how bad it is here in NA/EU or they simply don't know how to fix it. Because "not caring" seems kinda weird seeing how they managed to relaunch failed game and got second chance, so i hope there is something else behind this mess than simply not caring.

I made a post on the JP PVP forum talking about these very issues -- the third party software that calls out when someone is bursting, the alts clogging the leaderboard, the win-trading. Making suggested changes got lots of support but not a single dev comment.

I don't know if it's that they don't care. They are probably working on a solution that may take a while. Like how would they code it in?

There are a multitude of reasons as to why fixes may not be implemented or concerned addressed so quickly. To us it may seem like the devs don't care because we get minimal responses from the community team in PVP, but they do gather all the information and report it to the devs. Finding solutions to all the PVP problems isn't something that is solved in a single meeting and fixed over night. They have to map out solutions that works for the community at large, figure out solutions as to how to implement the fixes in game, and assure that it does not compromise other elements of the game at large.

If they didn't care about PVP they wouldn't have revamped it for SB the way they did, and they would just leave it alone. End of the day, 14 is still a PVE majority game, and the devs have a multitude of issues and concerns to address while creating new content to players with every patch. I'm not excusing them from not addressing the many concerns in PVP, but we need to support the devs while we voice our concerns. As Yoshi P did mention, writing out formal and detailed reports and concerns helps the time a lot more than over emotional rants and yelling.

I agree that alts taking up top 100 slots isn't ideal (just like alts taking housing plots) and that if they can limit it to 1 per account then that's the best solution. But I do have to ask - is this really a problem that we know of? Is there an "alt problem" in the top 100? How do you know people are playing alts into the top 100?

In the PVP LS I'm in I've seen/heard several of players talk about switching to alts and taking up the top 100 spots and such. I'm sure other servers have players like that. In that case they are minimizing the 100 pool but a decent chunk.

It's not the coding aspect that makes this difficult. It's almost impossible to determine the difference between an Alternate Account and a second player in the house. They could simply use a method of removal for any same account characters. But that wouldn't fix the entire issue.


For hacking/Win Trading, it would be much more helpful if they were able to use video proof to aid in their investigations. Then after that it's a (Boring.Tedious, but effective) matter of looking at the logs. Filtering by win/loss only if possible, determine a players largest amount of wins/losses against a single player, look at damage dealt/healing done and, (if possible) times disconnected against certain players versus others, that's all just for win trading.

They also should have the ability to see if a player is forcing matches against themselves by cross-checking IP/Mac, though there are ways around this sort of checking unfortunately.

For third party tools(hacking), well the only answer really is better security. I'm not sure how much they can really do on this front. But if they want to see this ever get to esports level they're going to have to commit resources to this sooner rather than later.

For callout usage, removal of the battle log during PvP is probably the only way.

In short, for a limited team it's not a small task at all. However if they don't commit any resources to this now, feast won't survive to be competitive later. A lot of players are feeling burned as it is.

These type of issues seem to have been part of PvP since it's creation. Botting, speed or teleporting 'hacks', using alternate characters from the same account to dominate the rankings, win-trading, use of third party programs to gain advantages where others wouldn't such as using voice-communications in a 4vs4 randomly matched game or programs that alert them to things they wouldn't naturally be aware of (e.g DPS uses X ability from the other side of the arena, the tank may not normally be aware they're about to try and burst if they're so far away, but when you have a program that can alert you the second it's about to come up...)

It's not likely to change, either. There isn't any way they can stop people from using third party programs, hacks, etc, there's always going to be people who will find a way around it. Honestly I think a more likely scenario is that they delete ranked Feast; I honestly believe they'd choose doing that over putting things in place that can effectively and efficiently stop players from 'cheating'

Addendum: it's funny to see the Feast advertised so often by the FFXIV team on social media as if it's true, meaningful content in its own right, and not just an extra for when one is bored of PvE. I wonder how many times they've had to fight against people utilising these programs

Dunno about other folks, but I PvP far far more than I've ever done the pve content. For me its the reverse, outside of raids its just run the same dungeons over and over to farm tomes, in fights you've done a ton of times, for gear you have to keep updated to continue to do the same thing, at least the stories are usually interesting. I'm pretty thankful they added tomes to PvP honestly, now I hardly ever have to step foot in the same dungeon more than I want to.

At least fighting players can be somewhat different between matches. But that's why we all have different opinions and enjoy different content.

I like when people are flaming others for having alts with different jobs on the same datacenter while themselves have alts on different datacenters. With pathetic excuses like 'there's different meta so it's okay'. An alt is an alt, you are still taking someone's spot in Top 100. Stop this hypocrisy. Play on your main on your datacenter like you are supposed to do, stop taking world dominance and robbing other people of their rewards. No, you don't really need 4 copies of the same coat.

Im against alts taking up ladder spots aswell, but usually the pvp community is so small even smaller now after the "pvp revamp" in SB it feels like... We just need more ppl to play feast ranked overall.

I agree. I'd love to get more into Feast but currently it's a "closed shop". If you're not in the gang then you're not going to succeed. It's like Hunts at the moment, the new hack software is essential if you want to hunt so those of us who don't want to risk our accounts or information just can't be am effective part of it. Let's not even get into certain "essential" raid software that does so much stuff it almost plays for you... of course there IS software that can run PVP, Open World, Crafting & Gathering content without human intervention whatsoever that is now far more common than you'd realise. SE need to step up or things will go south.

i agree with superzay, 10 spot if not more in the top 100 can be easily robbed at least if we include players doing multi alts on the same datacenter and also the one just making alt on different datacenter. just play your main.

Maybe there is some "fear" to get into the arena.

To lessen the harsh 'first contact', maybe having the unranked being matched only with unranked may help, and being matched with ranked after they got bronze. The brand new bronze will get an hard welcome anyway, but at least s/he is more prepared for that.

Agree. Ranking is s personal thing, about the player's skills, and not a different thing for each character the player have. Let the player choose their "main" on a datacenter and show ranking only for it.

Doesn't matter if the alts on the same DC or another it still takes up a slot some other person could've had. It's not like you have mains on different DCs and play them all to the same extent, you will just take the rewards from someone on that DC and it's pretty much wasted. All in all it's selfish and alts in general ruin the experience.

1. I played an ALT last season (not for/nor in top 100, stopped at plat) purely because the matchmaking / point system is awful and promotes people to avoid playing later in the season. Without rank decay this game promotes playing at the start of the season, getting 2200+ then never playing again, this is due to the fact that playing beyond 2100 at diamond can just as easily make you go back to 1900 in a day or two of playing lots of games if you're not a healer. This is why a lot of people retire at around 2100 to 2150+ as a minimun (I was rank 43 last season after dropping multiple times from 2200, after my third re-promotion I decided to AFK for the last 3 weeks of feast to save my score, most people did the same, some even inactive longer then 7 weeks with top 100 spots.)

2. People who play alts on different data centres but criticise people people for alts on the same data centre are no better if not worse, they're not contributing to the data centres queue population on their original server. 10 min queues for tank and DPS add up evening after evening, so much wasted time.

3. SE should implement basic design features to fix most of these problems, such as:

- Account wide rewards/titles for PvP on the same data center
- Daily rank decay
- Alts on the same data centre automatically ignored from top 100 (taking the highest rated character on your account as the singular spot in the top 100)

If a sub par tank like me can get 2140 rating with 48% and still get top 50 by not playing for 3 weeks then there's definitely some basic design issues going on when extremely good players can afk for 2+ months and get top 50.

i feel like the alt thing wouldn't happen as often if there was just a flipping unranked 4v4. not saying it wouldn't happen but even i have made an alt just to chill and pvp without worrying about my mains ranking getting pooped on. how a pvp system doesnt have unranked is beyond me. and dont talk to me about 8v8 its trash and you know it, used for leveling and just goofy crap.

I believe unranked 4v4 custom matches are coming in 4.1. As to how many people will actually play this mode, that remains to be seen, since they could've done the same during Feast pre-seasons and those queues are as dead as a door nail.

As I suggested in an earlier post, they should take the highest ranked character on the account for an account rating and distribute rewards to all characters on that account. You can play many alts in feast but only the highest ranked one would matter for top 100

Don't care is a rather strong word. It's better to say that they don't see PvP as worthy enough to dedicate resources to.

Sure the battle system revamp is nice, but what does it matter if all the core issues dragged over anyway?
