We need a "remove all from house" option, BEFORE Kugane opens

Fun fact: if a player is logged in somewhere inside your house (UPDATE: or even standing anywhere on the plot), you cannot demolish or relinquish your plot of land.

I'm guessing this will apply to moving your house to Kugane as well.

So to prevent the most diabolical trolling ever (or just an absent-minded FC member who genuinely meant no harm but you'll probably want to strangle anyway), can we please have an option in the housing menu that simply teleports everyone currently inside the house to the entrance to the housing ward?

Yes, it would have to override things like crafting as well (maybe start a 60 second countdown that warns everyone in the house that they need to vacate before it kicks them), but I'm sure people can see how badly this could be abused, here.

This has also been a giant PITA for people who have wanted to buy a new plot that just opened but had someone AFK inside their house. Really, this feature would be awesome for a number of reasons, Kugane just being the latest.

You can lock the house in the days leading up to Kugane, but the problem is that I'm sure many, MANY people who plan to move don't know that they cannot relinquish land if there's someone in the house (since they've probably never relinquished land or tried to do so with someone in the house) and will find themselves longing (read: raging) for this exact feature...

UPDATE: You apparently also cannot move is someone is standing on your plot at all...

So this option would need to boot people to the entrance to the residential ward to ensure they don't simply step back onto the plot after removing them.

A better question: Why not have the demolish, relinquish force the person out automatically? Simply having a force teleport because the option demolish/relinquish (or whatever they implement for house moving) was selected should solve this.

well for 1 if they are crafting inside the house will they lose all their mats?

Is that true? Since, well, even if you log out from inside the house, when you log back on, you ended up outside in the yard? Does that really count as your character still in the housing instance?

No.

The ward instance is a permanent zone that is maintained by the game all the time. The interior of a home is a transient instance that is created when someone enters and taken down when the last person leaves. You log back into the game and are placed outside your house because the instance you were in when you logged out may no longer exist.

If you semi-permanently AFK in your private chamber oin the FC house, that instance will exist and create a log jam - until you logout or are forced off the system somehow.

So that's why we get booted out every time we get pulled into DF when in a house. ...That also explains why I'll never be able to stay in my apartment no matter what. I'm sad.

But again, all it takes is one person logging in and going inside the house to prevent this from happening.

Yes, but not everyone may know that this is going to be an issue.

And that aside, the option to kick everyone out of the house should've been in the game ages ago anyway. I've read horror threads where a person wanted to buy a new plot but couldn't relinquish due to a FC member standing AFK in the house with no way to contact or remove them.

Yes, just like getting disconnected. I'd assume for any FC or house, there would probably be a notice going on for at least a week. It'd be on the crafter for the loss of their mats for ignoring guild events. For personal housing, I really doubt that the person you'd share a house with wouldn't tell you.

Honestly, I might have been gushing over other things and didn't catch it. The last I heard was just an announcing there would be a system in place, but there were 0 details, or hardly any real important details. Only that it'd be "disclosed at a later date." Happen to have a link to any mentioned details? (This is a serious question- some of the translaters do less than stellar jobs because on-the-fly translating is hard, but you still end up missing details or just straight up incorrect translations due to the nature of on-the-fly translations). I know if someone still inside a house could prevent a house transfer, that'd be a possibility worth worrying over to bring to their attention.

Also, lots of people don't keep up with live letters. Some argue they don't want any kind of story spoilers, but then they lose out on other information.

I would be astonished if Kugane rolls around and we don't have at least one furious post in general from someone who went to move their house but had an AFKer (or just flat out got trolled by someone being in their house).

This confirms that moving will be as simple as selecting to move prior to purchasing the plot and that moving to a new house does not restrict you to the same size of plot. It also explains how all the contents of the FC house will be moved as well.

...And yet it fails to address the main point of this thread: I'm certain that part of the moving process involves the same code that handles the act of relinquishing a plot of land, which you cannot do if someone is currently inside your house.

Look, there are plenty of good reasons to add the requested feature, from relinquishing a housing plot to having someone inside the house who you don't want in there for whatever reason.

Why even argue against the ability to eject players from your house if you so choose...?

Close your house before the maintenance could work for instance, I understand that it is a requested feature but dunno how high it is on their priority list

The problem is that not everyone knows this is even an issue because they've never relinquished land before.

And long after Kugane, this will still be a problem for players wanting to buy a new plot of land with an AFK FC member standing in their old house that they have no way of removing.

Why indeed, since I did not argue against it.

As Remedi suggested lock your house down at the maintenance that will precede the housing being opened. Notify your members that at such and such a time on such and such a date the house will be set for no entry until after the move.

Suggesting a course of action and reminding people of the move system does not in any way argue against the suggestion that you're making. I would suggest that you stop to think since your current approach will drive away support rather than attract it.

Yes, there are temporary solutions that would help in the move, but these solutions are only viable A) if players realize this is an issue, which I'm guessing the majority don't because they've never relinquished land before and B) they know in advance when a move will happen, which is not something that players can always know.

Though they were able to get the person back in time to get the plot, the plot could've just as easily been bought out from under them.
