mages in 4.0 why you even need them ?

so first of all its not a mage hate thread.

so all of the new dungeons/raids in 4.0 make you move lot more that before.
this bring a big problem to Black Mage and Summoner, Red Mage is ok, in the form of to much moving killing the dps they can do. lots of time they just get hit by aoe so they wont lose the dps and getting killed all the time. in EX primals and omega you can fell this when you get a Black Mage.
Black Mage and Summoner are the most non played jobs at the moment to the point i didn't see even 1 Summoner in dungeon/raid so far.
SE need to give all the mages a get in and get out skill like the Red Mage have.

Every dungeon (expert or lower) i have mostly blm, rdm and sometimes a bard.
i rarely see melees.

Perhaps while casting, if the spell is say, (i'm just gunna throw a number out here) one second or so till the cast would be complete if they move it would not interrupt the cast and the spell would go off? This would allow an opportunity to get out of aoes and such.

MP issues will be adjusted
Triple cast CD reduced to 60s from 90s
recommends to stack spell speed.
Fire IV Will be 2.8 secs base cast time

As a melee dps, moving around hurts me as well, my strongest attacks need to be from behind the bosses, if i'm not behind them, i lose out on a bunch of damage, for example, when there's AOEs behind them or i'm forced to move in some ways, or the tanks are iffy and can't tank the boss staying still.

Have.... you ever played a caster class? The DPS loss is a bit more severe then positional penalties.

ye you dont just lose % of the dps but 100% of he dps

Well MAYBE because people play what job they wanna play, having the biggest d*** in the party isn't important as long as you're having fun.
I hate the mentality of "Everyone should have a big d*** whatever their role" that is getting stronger ever since StormBlood.

Is this true? So then perhaps all is not lost upon them BLM. Has there been word on B4 being a dps loss? Some of my mates are saying it is a dps loss but I cannot confirm anything (ps4).

It would definitely be a lot better if they made movement during casting drastically slow casting down rather than cancel it entirely. Same should go for being hit, no more hard interruptions for a vanilla smack upside the head. Casters in XIV aren't glass cannony enough to justify repeated breaks in their ability to attack, and the mechanic is there for nothing more than flavor/tradition at this point.

I always suggested Surecast to be changed to be a spell making the caster able to move while casting the next spell every 30 seconds. They said they were removing useless abilities, but they "buffed" surecast so you can't get interupted by stuns or knockbacks, yet every mechanic that knocks you back, still does even with the spell on. SE, please? ._.

That then goes into the problem of players needing to use movement to cancel casting at critical times (like accidentally starting a Verthunder/Aero without Doublecast), although not many are aware that pressing the ESC button does that too.

If dark knight was "broken" I would still be playing my class. It is because I love the theme of it and I enjoy tanking. I believe most players who are not playing atleast summoner or black mage is because of the red mage and samurai fever. Summoner has also seen some issue not because of a "get in get out" ability, but the lack of sustain for their pets. I cannot speak for black mage since I never picked them up or looked at their kit before.

That doesn't suprise me in the least. BLM has been garbage since 3.0 IMO. It's standing has only gotten WORSE in 4.0.

There's no upside to it. It's completely outclassed by RDM. No Utility, No damage to back up it's lack of Utility, and it's allergy to any kind of movement that might be required in a savage raid that will kill it's already sub par DPS. Why would anyone choose that over RDM?

It is the ONLY caster in this game that can't use res!

At least I'm not the only one who thought SB was unforgiving to BLM.

In very movement heavy fights, yes atm you're better off just skipping B4 outside the opener. Perhaps this will change when BLM MP and Fire 4 casting times are adjusted, as well as having access to a lot more spell speed with newer gear.

But I've got to find the Escape key when my fingers are already on the movement keys.

they should just add a "Surecast" Trait allways active to BLM that allows them to cast while moveing. Would fix the issues BLM has.
SMN has Sustain issues thats it, since it works alot via DoT and Pets

It works whenever I pop it on Sophia and dance while the rest of the raid falls off the platform.
