Temple of the Fist Second Boss problem

I'm curious if anyone else has issues with this guy.

Let me point out before hand that while the damage down he puts on you is pretty damn brutal, it's not what I'm here to complain about.

The issue I have is SEEING his directional barrier. I can't really see the graphic very well and before I can discern the correct direction to attack from, the graphic has faded.

Would it be possible to either make a persistent shield graphic that helps identify direction, change the color to something more visible or make the graphic stay up for 2-3 more seconds?

It's hard to feel I contribute when I can't see a mechanic that gets me weakened by that much. =/

i forget... what's it called? "Killer Instinct"? I think? it has a cast bar, so at the very worst, not DPSing is better than getting damaged and getting the debuff. I really dont remember it lasting that long. Also, every group I've been in swarms the open side, so you can just try to follow them as well.

Which directional aoe are you talking about? Killer instinct or Fore and Aft/Port and Star? The latter two don't have graphics, their direction depends on which spell is cast and I've never had much trouble noticing the spell effect of the former. Did you try keeping your camera fairly zoomed out so that you can see the entire boss even when standing close to him?

he's the one boss I havent fully figured out yet.

However, I kinda cheat.

Usually there is a melee dps in the group who knows it VERY well. I just hug him like a new boyfriend. (Im pretty much standing close to him...but not close enough like Tina Belcher with Jimmy Jr). With the barrier i just stop everything

Ive done this the last 3 runs of this dungeon. I've gotten pretty good at it lol

Not the AoE, those are easy. it's the barrier. He has a barrier up on three sides, if you attack from those sides, he counters you with a damage down debuff that is like 90% or something. The shield only lasts a few seconds but it's long enough to get the debuff if you can't see the graphic.

EDIT: Got sidetracked, sorry. Only answered half. It's more my eyes than zooming. I can't really see it. I don't THINK I'm colorblind at all but...maybe lol.

If you can't deal with the counter-barriers well just stop weaponskilling for like 5 seconds. Same trick worked with Ravana.

If you mean AoEs look at it this way:

Port and Star = Port and Starboard like the sides of a ship. So don't be to his sides.
Fore and Aft = Before (in front of) and After (behind). Don't be in front of or behind him.

Yes, I'm aware. It's the 'Killer instinct' spell that I mentioned in my post. You only see the spell graphic of the barrier immediately after he casts it, the graphic fades a couple of seconds before the actual damage reflection shield does. If zooming back far enough to have a good view of the full boss doesn't work for you, then you might want to take the other peoples' advice in this thread and just stop attacking once you see the cast bar for it pop up.

That's probably what I'll have to do.

To me, the graphic only looks kinda like a thin outline with very slight yellowish murkiness in it. Sometimes I can see it, usually I cant.

I think a pulsing sort of setup would be a decent idea. That said, as a healer, I've never had trouble seeing it; camera zoom makes a huge difference though, I suspect.

It's surprising how many people fail that. I try to be that melee who others can follow for the less obvious three-sides-deflecting Killer Instinct mechanic, though, as I imagine some really may have trouble seeing that if at all distracted when it comes out.

Surprisingly, not all players of this game grew up on a boat.

I think tunnel vision is the number one problem on that mechanic. It happens to me a lot, though I'm trying to break myself of the habit. Once you snap out of it, it's pretty easy to see, but I do agree. The color of the shield displays blend into the surrounding environment. I wish the icon had a directional symbol on it. Right and left would obviously mean one of his sides, and an up and down arrow would signify his front or back respectively.
