Seriously square what the hell was that? From Locus (an awesome and catchy soundtrack) to this generic shit?
Even the D4 final boss have a shitty music. Plz.
Alexander OST is way better.

This first tier was meant to be a tribute to Final Fantasy V. That's the actual boss theme from that game, like they did with Syrcus Tower and the Final Fantasy II battle theme you listen sometimes. Liking it or not, is subjective. For some it's a nostalgia trip.
I rather enjoyed it myself, I'm all for new arrangements of the classic music, and even correctly reused older tracks period. First time in Dragon's Neck was fantastic because they straight up used the track from the older game.
Opinions.

how dare they do an homage using music from the game the dungeon boss and charecters were from >:V
Your talking about final fantasy,
if we had EVERYTHING be original we would have the au ra.....
ok guys thats all were done, we have a game
-COLLECTIVE GASPING-
I don't like the Alexander OST, I like this one better and I appreciate the homage. But that's just like, my opinion.
compared to the original they are brilliant covers, if you remix something to much you lose the touch the orginal had,
IF they were truely lazy they could of used the original OST and left you with the midi file playing in the back ground, so be glad they coverd it :P
> Locus is awesome and catchy
lulululul
I don't know who Exdeath is (Heard from FFV)
Exdeath's coloring made me awake. RAINDOW BOSS
Never played FFV and I found Omega's OST way better than Alexander's.
As I said in another thread, this game has been nothing but nostalgia, everything is a reference, your very first dungeon is a homage to V right down to the switch in the wall leading to a pirate hideout. Final Fantasy XIV is basically a giant homage to the series past and what better way to make it an MMO where other FF fans get to enjoy the content they grew up with put together in a big game like this? It's 4.0 now, I don't know why people haven't yet realized this game was made for FF fans in mind? You don't have to get the references but they are there for us. They don't call it a FF theme park game for shits and giggles it literally is.
I dunno, the nostalgia and self references is just a trait of the Final Fantasy. ALL of the games to that. FFXIV is a part of a major franchise, and they all do this type of thing.
You likely have no idea how much stuff you just bump into that's a wink to old stuff, to straight up rehashes of old bosses and music like this.
Did you get salty about the entire Crystal Tower raid series, too? You do know that Alexander is an old summon that appeared in many of the games, too?
You dont have other problems atm, dont you. O welp. Just cause you didnt like it, doesnt mean others dont as well. Get. over. it.
I personally preferred the soundtrack for Alexander. I love Rise, Locus and the others. That being said, music is really subjective. There are people who prefer this. I wouldn't say this music is lazy or terrible, just not MY taste.
I play what I want my friend. Just because this OST in particular is bad for me, that doesn't mean the whole game is bad. lul.
Just expressing my opinion in an internet's forum. Giving feedback about game stuff and so goes on. For me is bad. And the nostalgia is blinding most of people here imo.
Girl, settle down. I literally said "You do you, Boo".
I'm explaining to you that your opinions are yours but maybe you should ask yourself why you're attacking reused concepts in some places but not others- unless your opinions are baseless in which it's not truly "feedback" because there can be no resolve.
I would argue that it isn't really 'blinding' anyone. It's a Final Fantasy game that draws heavily on previous Final Fantasy games, which is already a series that does this a lot, as has been stated. People playing it for nostalgia is kind of a given, when it's one of the primary draws to the game for a lot of people.
Exactly. The way it was phrased sounded like a direct attack on the music people. He said it was generic as the reasoning (which isn't necessarily a bad thing btw). I haven't been in Omega yet (need to do it tomorrow tbh lol), but it'll be interesting. While I do prefer unique themes to generic music myself (for example my favourite battle related theme being either Beauty's Wicked Wiles or From the Ashes, or phase 2 of the Royal Menagerie), I find even the more generic tracks are good.
EDIT: Before I get done for having "nostalgia glasses on" or something like that, this is the only FF game I've ever played except for like 10 minutes of the original FF on my Windows Phone. So I don't have the old games to base nostalgia from.
dind't knew the people here were so sensitive, gezz. Is that a left forum?
I too think this music sucks. Homage or not I am sad I will have to disable the music when I raid.
I guess FFV wasn't always the most popular OST, but i like it.
Saying Uematsu's work is "generic shit" is a good way to pick a fight with the entire JRPG community.
The music is great.
It's a brilliant way to honour FFV's soundtrack and brought forth a massive wave of nostalgia.
Soki said exactly what I was trying to say so I'm going to quote her then put my additions underneath.
Exactly this. While you have the freedom of speech to insult the work through the First Amendment of the United States (assuming you're from there. Though the forum rules may or may not agree with this as they don't have to comply with the First Amendment), we also have the freedom of speech to call you out on it. The fact is, as I mentioned in my previous post, you put your post together in a way that was condescending. And you tried to make it objective, saying the music is "generic {censored}" instead of stating you feel that perhaps they could have done better or gone with a different theme. Had you been less hostile in your approach, you would have received less hostile responses. I'm gonna be that guy here and state you brought it on yourself.
"I don't like it so therefore I have to let everyone know it!"
While we have this thread I'd like to share something aswell.
I don't like garlic. There, I said it.
And everyone that say otherwise is just plain wrong!
Music can't hold a candle to the original composition. Tis truth. Not enough percussion or drums. Makes me fall asleep since there is just no impact to it anymore.
Sucks to be you I guess! :P
Well, it's not blinding, but most people on the forums have played previous FF games and grew up with them, so they've learned to respect them as a part of themselves. Having to hear someone denounce what they grew up and cherished as what you mention in your opening post, people are not going to take it lightly.
