I hope war gets some changes tonight

If not, I absolutely expect some news on war balancing during the live letter on 7/15. Otherwise, I think I\\'m just gonna roll samurai...

What do you guys think?

Also, I think the Clunkiness people feel with the class is with regards mostly to deliverance and switching into it from defiance.

I suggest no rage cost for switching INTO DELIVERANCE (cost for switching to defiance is fine as we\\'re likely to dump all rage while in deliverance anyhow), flat 30 sec cooldown for infuriate (easier to line up cooldown and no pressure to use ib for infuriate cooldown reduction), and no rage cost for onslaught while IN DELIVERANCE.

I think those 3 changes would all but eliminate the weird Clunkiness I feel when playing war sometimes.

Or have the swap penalty be a flat value, rather than halving. Something like 20 gauge when swapping stances, then you'd only need a single Storm's Path to refill the lost gauge (and no more odd values).

Then have Paladin's lose 50 gauge on swap to keep them largely unchanged.

Pretty sure tonight will be shirogane and that's it.

I am almost 70 Samurai now, will probably be DPSing more than tanking too.

Shiro Gane won't be released until 4.1 or after so it's still 3 months away.

I'm expecting Omega tonight, and hoping for some warrior love.

I'm okay with a flat cost, but I'd prefer no cost for switching into deliverance. Even with a flat 20 cost, you'd probably need to do maim while at full 100 rage in order to prep path for after the switch.

How about a flat 50 rage cost for switching into defiance WHILE ABOVE 50 rage?

This way there's no odd values, and it further encourages players to dump rage while in deliverance BUT allows for some flexibility. For example, say you have 100 rage in deliverance but you need to switch back to Defianc. You could fc once, then switch and have 50 rage left over for an inner beast or steel cyclone.

But yeah, I might be alone on this.

But I have no problem with building gauge again when switching to defiance (Im usually 0 rage when switching to defiance anyhow) but it really irks me to have to build gauge again when switching into deliverance.

I think infuriate was meant to alleviate this, but with the way the infuriate trait works, infuriates cooldown doesn't always match up with inner release. Also, I feel pressured by the mechanics of the class to maximize fell cleaves during the inner release window, and so using infuriate to quickly get 100 rage and fc x4 as opposed to using it after building rage back up via combos for fc x6 feels bad.

I should add that infuriates cooldown not matching up with inner release is a problem because inner releases cooldown is what dictates when I would switch from defiance to deliverance.

If infuriates cooldown was a flat 30 secs, every fourth infuriate would line up with inner release.

Actually, this change alone would make the job more smooth, because you could line use infuriate with inner release every two minutes like clockwork without having to wait.

I'd maybe just go with fcx4 if that was the case just to make things simpler.

Either you go with no cost or you keep the way it is right now. Cost will add to the element of inflexibility that is affecting WAR right now and no its not unbalanced to have 0 cost on stance dance when you have several abilities that consume Gauge, the 8 seconds CD will guarantee that you won't be flipping from deliverance to defiance just for that sweet 20k upheaval hit in some mob ribcage.

Now i haven't gotten WAR to 70 yet but from where im standing it sounds like WAR loosing half their gauge is one of the major balancing factors otherwise they would do comparable DPS to an actual DPS (like HW, and HW WAR was massively overtuned) but i do agree that getting odd rage is clunky. perhaps it could half the gauge but then round it UP to the nearest 10, so for example if you're at 75 rage and switch stances it would currently go to 38, instead perhaps it could go to 40 instead.
also other adjustments will be needed like a change to shake it off and a little added utility, but other than those i think WAR is fine from where im standing.
is it not true that you can do 5 back to back Inner beasts in defiance now? that's A LOT of mitigation, not to mention that WAR has the highest number of single cooldowns and 2 on demand self heals. This is all just my opinion ofcource and i havent even gotten it to lvl 70 yet so i dont really have the full picture yet but hey, just throwing in my 2 cents.

A WAR with 100% Deliverance uptime doesn't even come close to an actual dps. Don't see how removing the penalty would increase the dps cap.

If you as a war were out parsing dps, then you had incredibly shitty dps.

I don't expect them to announce any changes, but some acknowledgement that they are "looking into it" would be good news.

Ah fair enough, i just assume it worked the same as fell cleave but again, not having lvl 70 WAR i wouldn't know. as to why? massive mitigation. Depending on the fight, something like that would be amazing during ahk morns in T13 for example as later on in the fight the tank busters lasted longer than inner beast did. Also its only 200 pot less than fell cleave with a self heal, its still a powerful skill but i feel like everyone has overlooking it due to fell cleave.

Tonight is definitely not going to be Shirogane. They will give at least a week's notice before they open Shirogane.

20 gauge cost to swap stances would be fine. I usually find myself having to reapply storm's eye anyways, if nothing else.

Of course, the swap costing nothing would be nicer and would bring WAR more in line with PLD / DRK, where the gauge cost of swapping stances is negligible.

Yeah but back to back Inner Beasts are bad, since you would clip most of the remaining timer. You can do the same with 3 spread out IBs though which is actually possible.

Looks like just some emnity increases right now. Though it seems they are hinting at some more major changes for 4.05.

Tired about talking about this stuff. Tried sam, and it's fun. But it's not the same. I'm just too heavily invested in war. If they don't substantially address warrior issues by 4.05, I'm just gonna take a long break until they do.

But, I don't think the issues are so bad that it can't be addressed. So I'm hopeful something good is in store for 4.05.

I'm definitely taking a break once my subscription ends - I only bought a month anyway.

Been playing the Warrior borderline exclusively since the beta, it's seen some big changes in the past, but for now I'm just going to take a break because I really don't want to play Paladin again.

I leveled pld and dark to 60. Paladins are cool, but I never really got into it as a theme you know? Too righteous and all that. Plus I prefer big 2 handed weapons.

Thought I\\\\\\'d like dark cuz 2 handed swords are my favorite weapon type, but I just couldn\\\\\\'t get into the game play.

But then came Warrior and it was everything I hoped for in a tank. A tank that felt like a dps even if it wasn\\\\\\'t actually putting out dps level numbers. The self sustain was great, the moments of burst with fell cleave was awesome, being able to switch stances on the fly was fun, and the whole viking berserker theme really grew on me.

Warriors have some truly great animations too. Fell cleave, steel cyclone and upheaval are beautiful. Inner release is also beautiful. Heck, even worthless Shake it off looks great.

I really, really hope they bring wars back to a good place. I thought I\\\\\\\\\\\\'d dig samurai, and was even considering going dps full time with it. But I love tanking and I love war. I even love it\\\\\\\\\\\\'s cheesy 60 to 70 class quests lol.

If wars stay the way they are now, that might be just enough for me to call it quits. Ffxiv is a great game with many great aspects to it. The story, the pve stuff like raids, and pvp is cool. But I experience all of that through being a warrior. So yeah, anxiously waiting for the live letter next week and 4.05.

I mean it's not a negligible cost for dark knight but I think this is a good point, why not make stance dancing on warrior cost a fifth of its damage resource and burn a gcd? Would you accept that?

I've also always felt like switching into tank stance should restore my hp by at least the amount gained. I never really understood why it didn't.

Because its not meant to be heal. Suppose you have 50k health in deliverance. Switching to defiance would give you 10k health. You could do that every 20 secs for a 10k heal.

Agreed, Paladin just felt too boring to play in my experience. I got it to level 50 in the base game, before all the Warrior changes back then, but since then haven't really been bothered to touch it anymore. Dark Knight is cool I guess but I haven't spent any time on it - still in the level 30s.

Warrior is just a fun class to play, it's a shame they have no idea how to balance it properly. HW Warrior felt perfect to me. Also now that I think about it - I'm probably going to stop tanking and level a DPS class finally.
