All that i see in this patch is time wasting till 1.21.
Key items to Mog Primal:
- 5 Strong NMs
- U have to kill walking the area if not 9999 from a tree.
This is sooooooo weird.
They expect that ppl pay to play a time sinking game?

Nah ffxi was just waiting until japanese midnight
It's no problem honestly, you get the key items, turn them into the charm or whatever, and fight the King all in the same area. It's extremely local. 15mins till you can re-enter after you win. So in that time you turn in the completed quest, pick up a new one, kill the 5 NM's and then get to the Atheryte. Beats waiting around.
Speaking of, I know others will disagree, but I wish they would have incorporated JP midnight in the GC ranking up process. I went from Private Third Class > Second Class > First Class > Corporal in like 3 minutes. Buying everything with GC seals isn't all that rewarding. When you completed the chocobo quest in FFXI, it was hitting a milestone. Buying a license with GC seals didn't feel rewarding at all. Sweet, I have a chocobo now, but there wasn't any sense of accomplishment.
Also, right now everyone is pretty much doing it the "wrong way". I know my group would sure take far less time if we knew what we were doing. Heck, we only discovered we had to walk by accident, then as we moved on we kept learning new "tricks", from avoiding the links to where to tank stuff.
I bet that in two or three days there will be already guides showing how to kill everything in 15min.
Time is a waste of life, life is a waste of time lets get wasted all the time and have the time of our life!
The NM's do spawn fast, but that's not the time sink part. They are very easy to kill... its the whole walking everywhere, while avoiding getting aggro and linking tree's that is lame.
We could really use that update to the link system where mobs only call the same type.
I think part of the problem is we're getting things piecemeal, so by the time these promotions came around it is simply a matter of talking to the NPC a few times in a row and speeding through the promotions. Likewise, if more promotions come in the next patch — around 2 months away — many of us will have built up another healthy collection of seals, doing nothing more than sitting in our overly large pockets. And we might be able to breeze through those promotions, yet again.
But newer players won't have that luxury.
It's something they'll have to actively work toward, scrapping together every seal they can, completing any GC quests they can find, participating in plenty of missions or by simply forgoing a few pieces of armor, weapons or manuals until they've built up enough seals to earn their promotion. From that perspective, I think they'll achieve some sense of accomplishment for each rank. More than the people who had thousands of seals collecting dust, not doing a thing with them.
That's not to say a quest per rank would have gone amiss...
^That's exactly what people are forgetting. The only reason it takes two seconds for us to get it is because most of us have hit 50 and completed every GC quest available before the new ranks came out. For a new player there would be progression and they would have to do the quests to afford the promotions. GC leves are a painfully slow way of getting seals so the quests are pretty much required.
The problem is: how many new players had come in FFXIV in the last 3 months? huh?!?! hmmmm...
95% of every server reached rank (ooops level) 50 before patch 1.18, and except for "animation lock", there's never been endgame content. Seriously: this game is so empty and we're gonna pay for it! I'll pay because 2.0 seems gorgeous, but what are we gonna do in the meantime? Nothing challenging! And the fact that the so called "endgame" can be done with Christmas outfit or NAKED, it's ridicolous talking about everything in this game (equip, stats, tactics, contents...).
I think it was a good thing for the first time... now I really don't want to keep doing it.
Yeah, the novelty of having to walk past all those trees has kinda worn thin. Also, they need to change it to where you can still toggle walk while in active mode. It's annoying when the hog does its charge, knocks people back, then you have to disengage and walk to it since he knocked the tank back and runs towards them, otherwise you incur the wrath of the trees and die.
Yes, this fight is completely made to waste our time. Killing NM's is the easiest part, the problem is moving around, which is a pain in the neck (to do it every time). You thought tapers were bad?
Unfortunately this "stalling the players until 2.0 with crappy content" strategy is growing old (crappy = nothing challenging, no progress, huge time sink, repeatative, etc).
Somehow they managed to create their largest (and worst) time sink so far. Looks like someone worked hard.
Goddamn...people really will bitch about anything...
see ya in 1.21.
I totally loved the moogle quest and the fun/frustrating mechanics with the trees, the aggro mobs, the links, etc.
Repeating that for every kill however, I dont like it so much.
As a whole i like the patch, the classes feel more balanced, although I would personally like more usefull cross class abilities. 3-4 are really usefully then your just down to fillers.
the combo system is a great addition.
Well they need people to spend time doing something, it's obviously not spent leveling up.
It's typical of SE to force some kind of time-sink bullshit on us like this.
At least western devs try to hide this kind of grind and tedious time-sink nonscense.
It's blantly obvious this game is still lacking content, you don't need to add silly stuff like this to hide the fact.
And to think, they want us to pay for the privilege of farming these NMs every time.
Really? I doubt anyone knew they had a choice when it comes to playing the game.
I guess we really ought to just not say anything at all on these forums that are made for player feedback.
...oh wait.
You think we arent' aware of that ?
As has been said by others there is only so many times you can say "well quit then" before you are but one of a handful of players left.
Fact is people want to play this game to have fun, this applies even more when they are paying for something.
Sorry, I really like the new skillsets. I can't call a new class system a waste of time.
in all honesty i dont think people are quitting because the moogle fight requires you to walk in order to kill NMs before you retry after you succeed.
And you guys really think this is a time sink? from what people are saying it takes like 15-20 minutes. you cant even re enter for 15. I dunno man, i think that this while one may find it annoying, isnt really a time sink, its just a pre req for a boss fight. Its like calling a dungeon a time sink for fighting a boss. Just be like i dont like doing this, dont try to claim its some hidden technique to keep you from running out things to do, because something that takes as long as the timer is, is nt going to extend the time the content lasts.
New battle system is terrible. How do I spam spells?
the fact is that you are ALREADY 'the handful of people left'. Except in reality everyone is acting like the playerbase right now would be sustainable. It isn't, it won't be in January, and Square-Enix doesn't give a damn. If they did, there wouldn't be a service to play.
So keep acting like right now everything is fine and 'soon' it won't be. The game will stick around and people WILL play it regardless of whether you do or not.
Well you know.... They all a bunch of bitchy little girls around here. If you make them put forth a little effort the cry about how much time they have to sink into it, and if you make it quick they cry that its easy mode, they bang it out, then have nothing to do.
Thats not forums feedback.
If we want to hear alot of whinny complainers gripe about how they want this, then when you give it to them, hear them gripe that they want it the other way, then we will all get married.
