Yes we did. We gave them money early and they were permitted to report pre-sales to their investors. In return, we were supposed to get early access.

I also spoke with a Thomas in customer support. He was very rude as well. I asked if it's possible to just be moved to a new location as some people have benefited from that in the support in-game. I feel like the pre-order price should be refunded.

And SB was going to release on the 16th no matter what. "Early access" isnt some "free bonus" its the real legit release, but with the "limited time only" tag line, to try and force people into action, who were somewhat on the fence about it.

The 16th is the real release, and they only block non purchasers, because if they didnt, then people would know they arent being forced to make impulse purchases, and can take more time to decide.

I do think the OP is over reacting, but the quote you are trying to counter argue against is correct.

It's not just the SB quests either, a couple of my mules on Lamia server are stuck on their Lvl. 10 job class quests because it is a personal instance. So, the issue is affecting more than just SB content.

I beg to differ. I genuinely resubbed a bit earlier than I planned to so I could get early access. This is still taking days off of my subscription time. The sub clock doesn't stop while we're being asked to wait. <.< Plus they got my Stormblood expansion fee early on the pre-order. I certainly did pay for this as it was advertised as an incentive for early involvement. It is also beneficial to SE as a business when they can get pre-order sales figures. Its only "early access" in name. (And since SB belongs to SE, they are free to call it w/e they want.)
They could have just "released" it yesterday, and there would be no difference.
"Live" and "Early Access" are one and the same.

The ONLY way early access would not be the same as "Live" is if you buy the game now, and arent given the code to play, as you had to do it before the 16th.
It's not a true "Early access offer." again, only in name, and promoting it as such doesnt make it as such. (also, it's hard to call anything an early access, as they would imply before its ready. Usually a true early access is called a Beta, or Alpha.)

McDonalds can promote a "Hot Coffee" and cant make coffee w/o using hot water, but they sure as heck can give you an old cold coffee, regardless of how they promote it, or describe it.

Yes, it is "Officially" called Early Access, but its not a true early access.
At best, it's a "If you didnt upgrade through us, its a Delayed access until amazon, or who ever, give you the code, access."

Of course the only reason I bother to argue what it should be perceived as, isnt to argue over the definition of early access, but to understand it isnt a free service.
You still have to pay your sub for 4 days (which is locked to increments of 30 days.) on top of the purchase.

If you were given 4 days free to play, either for a non subscriber, or 4 added on top of your subscription, for the early access, then I would argue its as close as u can get to a "Free bonus".

While I resubbed before this, to get my RDM gear ready, I would agree to this statement at least with other similar content, and the like.
And as this poster says, nothing is free.
Some people have to sacrifice something, in order to give SE the money early. (Not all "costs" are with money. Contracts can be made through actions alone, and no money/currency/trade in physical goods, is ever made.)

People also forget these issues effect those w/o early access.
And they paid for their service as well.
(My friend hasnt gotten SB yet, but still cant do the story quests etc, and I was hoping to get him into the game, but this has made him decide not to bother logging back in.)

Alright so, to get this out there;

There is nothing wrong with expecting some form of 'mediation' from square for this. In any type of market, business, or whatever;

You Purchase a product, you have a right to receive a functioning product. You have every right to demand your money back if the product is not functioning.

If they advertise early access for you, it means those days are also part of said product. To breach this in any shape or form is false advertising and generally would get you into trouble if let's say, you where selling a faulty car, faulty electronics, or even faulty software. For anyone going to tell me ; this is not how games work; this has already happened with games, namely Arkham City for PC.

So that's one side of the coin.

The other one?

If you're truly resolved to 'take action' against this; By most trade laws, you have a grace period in which you can step back from any contractual obligation. In Europe it averages around 2 weeks. You can charge back, or demand a refund, and they will have to comply.

'however'.

It will also result in your account being closed down or SB removed from it/etc. So for those of you who are 'so' enraged they don't want to play anymore; take this route.

For those who still want to play; I'm quite certain we'll get some for of mediatory compensation in the form of Subscription days / bonus items, and so on.

Where to start with this...

Early access is what is, access to the game early. Arguing its not early access is... wrong. pre ordering the game, ie, investing your money gets you access on the 16th, instead of the 20th. People who arent sure if they want to play, or dont want to invest early, get access, on launch day. ergo, you get early access.

Secondly, nobody paid for early access, please stop kidding yourself. I bought the game and got early access, the people who buy on the 20th will pay the same price i did for no early access.

Now onto the big issue, yes the server cant handle the sheer number of people trying to spam the instance. The people who are standing outside raubahn spamming the instance are actually making the problem persist. When you click Raubahn, your sending a request to a server that cant deal with your requuest, the server then has to process that error message as well as the maxed out number of people it is trying to support.

Yes, it is frustrating that you cant progress past this point at the moment, but you arent being denied anything. you can still play the game and yoshi suggesting you do something else in the meantime isnt the dev team being "Lazy" or "thinking its acceptable" its them trying to mediate the problem. The instance does work, you just cant access it right now. once more people accept it and do something else, the congestion will ease up and the stubborn people will get through it. then the rest of us can.

Its not possible for the dev team to simply "fix" the problem. They cant program you to not spam the server, why people think taking the server down for maintenence would fix this i dont know. its like trying to fit 100 people on a 50 seat coach. you just cant do it, and SE cant just magic up another bus.

It's called buying more Hardware/Servers. Spend some of that money they made with SB.

Nope nope a whole lotta nope nope. This isnt blade n soul or black desert type of early access bs they would call "open beta" what those publishers call beta testing sounds cool but is a trap. Back to your point. The 20th is the "OFFICIAL" launch of the game. Not a single piece of marketing advertising had ever stated the 16th as the "official" release. The instanced areas ARE working, but there is too much congestion on the servers. It will balance out. SE need to make money. Money is everything. Money comes first. And no matter how many hundreds-of-thousands of people are upset, we'll all forget about this in a few weeks when it balances out. This is how MMO launches always have been. FFXIV Devs are likely to give us some compensation in the form of subscription time & perhaps some other tidbits.

I understand everyone is upset, and we've all been looking forward to this for a long time. My friends are unable to do: MSQ/POTD/Dungeons/Instances of ANY kind/PvP etc. This is only in certain non-instanced zones. It sucks but it happens.

The overwhelming popularity of this game is a good problem. No big MMO company is immune to launch day problems. Just think back to Warlords of Draenor. (...And countless other examples there's no point in mentioning.) Almost every MMO has problems during launch or expansion launch; the issues likely won't persist very long. Just because YOU, I or GEORGI WALLACE down the street have issues with this launch, does not mean the whole launch is terrible for everyone. People are a lot more vocal when they are displeased than when they are content. Have patience.

Thankfully, I have art coms keeping me very busy, I don't really care too much about early access, and I am sick as hell. But the explosion of self-entitled complainers had to be commented on. Not everyone is raging. Some of us are fine riding out the storm.

I don't care what your opinion is on if early access is a paid service or not. Clearly SE has done nothing to address this issue. The last 3 responses from the producer said the following, "try again later." Not we have a plan, or we did this or that, or trying this. They just basically said, "yep, sucks." No other region is experiencing this. And you can't say that they didn't anticipate the big release, because they clearly said so a month before launch. They could have found some arbitrary way to address this issue. initiating a queue for the instance, instead of complete randomness. Have the instance moved to a duty finder/party finder to help track it. They could do more than just tell us, everything is fine, just lots of people, then why did you put two instances in the first zone of the expansion!? Move a freaking npc, take down the servers to clear the bottleneck! You say you're restricting people from logging in to help address the congestion, but failed to realize that the majority of the players trying haven't left, so you fixed nothing!

Hmm...I think it would be only just to provide some form of compensation for this issue. But it needn't be something to atrociously valuable. An acknowledgement and apology is what I think would be most desired at this point. The silence is deafening. And insulting. A simple queue mechanic on single person dungeons would be ideal to reduce load, without requiring new servers, or re-allocation of server structure. Please implement something like that.

Umm yes they have. Do you even read the lodestone? They have been updating it quite frequently, and working there asses of while people complain because they are so self entitled, and think they need instant gratification for early access. But that being said - I still understand the difference between Launch and "Early Access". Early Access is a stress test of sorts - its there to gauge how the new systems and stuff will respond to a live playerbase accessing them. It's to make sure that if there /are/ problems - they can be addressed and hopefully fixed via maintenances before launch. Clearly the playerbase has discovered some pretty nasty issues - hopefully the Dev Team will be able to repair those issues prior to the official launch of the software. But that doesn't change the fact that SE's most valuable players - their regulars - are still suffering from these issues. I do think we should be afforded some sort of playtime compensation.

Let's make one thing clear.

Complaing about a product you've purchased is not self-entitled. People aren't able to play base game XIV or HW properly either due to the issues brought by SB. This is not a free game. We're not freeloading.

We paid for a service that currently is behaving sub-par, the reasonings behind this don't really matter. The responsibility lays with Square to fix this as soon as possible, not the players to 'deal with it'.

This 'patience' virtue signalling BS may be your gig, but for many others it is not. I'm keeping myself busy otherwise aswell. This does not mean I will pretend to be pleased or to not care. Nor does it mean that anyone here is 'entitled' for demanding things to be fixed.

Lastly; Game breaking bugs are not just something that 'happens with congestion'. The Susanoo crash that entirely locks players out of the game is something they should have known about and fixed prior.

Long story short ; All those who purchased this game have a right to complain about it's quality and bugs now. You're also in the bugs/issues section. If you're looking for the 'praise SE' section, please direct yourself to the other forum parts.

You guys complain about the Main story quest..You wanna listen to what is happening to me and to my friends? Well we been in que 3500 ppl been waiting for 30+ minutes...and when it reached 0 we got the message Lobby server error..and then we tried to log in again and we are back in que 3500..we cant even log in the game..Square enix doesn't care...all they care about is putting their name on CUP NOODLES..and to make more money..

I don't think any compensation is needed, but if we get any sort of compensation just make it so the next 4 days at launch our sub doesn't count for. Either way Yoshi-P and the team don't owe anything to anyone.

If it was just queues or the MSQ bug you guys saying we aren't owed anything would have a point.

Unfortunately a lot of us are unable to do ANYTHING without getting automatically disconnected before we even zone in and then getting disconnected again right away as soon as you get through the queue. It's happened to me so far with POTD, dungeons, the infamous MSQ quest, and the first instanced quest in the game.

It's one thing to be unable to do the MSQ or have to wait in a queue. But being completely unable to play the game or even log in, that is completely unacceptable.

There are lots of other things you can do in Stormblood besides that. We're still in early access, which means that we're basically stress testing everything. Go look for aether currents, or do some side quests! Lots of fun things to do!

The issue is it's not only Mr. Bahn's Wild Ride, or Pool of Tribute Perma-Lock thats screwing people over. The 90k error hell is affecting every part of the game. We got people doing ARR content on new toons getting affected by the error, and bottlenecks. We have people getting disconnected just idling in their FC house reorganizing toolbars, or from just looking at the MB. And this is across nearly every server atm. Even the preferred worlds.

We can't simply go do other things, because doing anything results in us crashing with the dread 90002/90006 error hell. I've been getting nothing but them and this is an error I've NEVER had in the year or so I've played FFXIV. So as it stands we're literally sitting in player queues to get disconnected after having shelled out money for early access, and all Square has really said is "Do something else". Also incredibly unfair that we have to just sit and hope we win the RNG roullete. I've seen on balmung people who have accessed the new city in the single digits...

I would love to do something else, man, I really would. But I can't do anything except fiddle with a mouse waiting for the 90002s to finally stop :(

Welcome to MMO Expansion launches people. This is what happens. It's why there is an "early access". To Stress test it. You didn't pay for an early access, you paid regular price for the game and then were given extra in game items (On the launch date) like you would get from any game pre-order.

Well ah, you... Didn't actually pay for pre-order. Its the same cost for the full copy, you just got it as a bonus.
