Minimap feels very FFXII, i love it.
Oh, it looks much more easy to use than the current map :O
Yeah I love it too. I wasn't expecting that to change, so its a nice surprise
I hadn't noticed that... very nice new map.
It looks a bit like they pulled one of the better elements from FFXIV 1.0, back when Thanalan, Black Shroud, etc., weren't split into multiple maps. Great QoL change, SE!
Okay, awesome, I am so glad we'll be able to actually relate locations now. xD
However, the new design makes it PAINFULLY obvious how channelized and restricted ARR (and yes, even HW) zones are. Ew. @_@ Soooooooo much skipped area. I always felt it before, but good grief lol.
It's true some time to time I miss a bit WoW maps, it may was huge as hell but I liked the RP-side of actually walking through zones with passages through cave, cliff, etc
The map is the least of our concerns. But hey, any topic you can make counts, right?
looks good i like it ^^
The minimap isn't any different though. All that's changed is the world map.
Old looked better
I would say this way makes more sense though as it povides 2 very important things.
Room to expand. Instead of the same old zones in old areas, they could expand make others in case the need arises.
Climate seperation. Showing this sort of distance between zones so a desert isnt right next to a snow zone makes things much more realistic. That is something that I personally always found annoying about other games. Random snow areas surrounded by fire zones.
FINALLLY!!!! "not talked about much?" lul my friend ranted almost daily about this issue about not knowing where to go because she would be confused how the zones linked to each other. Like say you need to go to zone C from zone A, it was clear how zone A connected to zone B but it was nearly impossible to see zone A to zone C, and when you clicked on the new map, it put the new map in an abertay position making her confused. Maps was pretty close to useless because of how they where made and the worst gaming map she ever experienced. (and this is counting FFXIV 1.0, so she did not understand why they downgraded the map usefulness going into 2.0) She complained about it day 1, 2.0 till now ( some parts still confuse her because the maps are just bad)
"FFXIV 2.0-3.0 are the worst maps in gaming history. Even in game maps in pokemon on the gameboy made more sense and was more useful. Downgrading the map usability always confused me going into 2.0"
2.0-3.0 maps where very, very , very bad. I am wondering if seeing cliffs and such is improved too.
It is the least of YOUR CONCERN! for my friend it was nearly unplayable and got mocked almost daily trying to ask where to go because the maps where that useless for her. If she could post on the forums, it would been a thread on day 1, 2.0 talking about how bad they are and how much they impacted her game play. She wanted NOTHING to do with limsa because of it as well.
Oh Great stuff I hate the current map system its so clumsy and messy, this looks so much cleaner and user friendly.
And apparently when you click on a quest to check it on the map it will appear on its real location on the world map instead of just an icon to say "it's this zone", making it even more easy to know where to go/tp
Oh I agree completely. I was just commenting that the obvious channeling really made me cringe. The ARR zones feel so claustrophobic. The HW zones are bit better, but they're still hampered by really annoying invisible walls and nonsensical "you can't actually stand here despite being able to fly over it" spots.
