It seem MT and ST might become more differ now?

From what I look, PLA new ability seem to focus on defend, (especially the last one in the video). While DRK and WAR seem to get better at DPS than before.

Does this means in the future content where DPS is more needed, it gonna be WAR + DRK, while future content where a real tank is needed, it gonna be PLA + sub ?

What do you think?

not sure about war being better at dps, apparently they will change berserk to 60 secs cooldown but 50 % will be reduced to 30 % and no pacification
though since maim now deal slashing debuff i think the 20% damage from maim is gone altogether

iirc the 20% from Maim got moved to Storm's Eye since WAR gets a self buff when you use it now.

When yoshi played as his war when he did the SE combo, maim put a slashing debuff on the enemy while storms eye was a buff. It's the exact same icon as the current SE but appears on the warrior.

I'm feeling a little optimistic that PLD's DPS isn't going to be that far behind this go round. Requiscat(or however it's spelled) does have quite a bit of damage on it, and if done over 80 percent gives a buff to damage as well. And PLD still has FoF. In fact most of what we saw PLD do in that video was offensive based.

This isn't much of a nerf though. If my math is right current berserk works out to around a 12% damage buff throughout the fight. New berserk works out to 10%. I also believe now you can pull off 6 fell cleaves every other berserk window. It does worry me a bit cause it seems like warrior probably still has it's guaranteed spot and paladin and dark knight will be fighting over the last spot.

can't tell if we don't know all the new skills. But common sense says Axe and Greatsword will always do more damage than sword and shield.

I'm not going to bank too much on that anymore. Since ever tank as Reprisal WAR no longer has that advantage, and with MNK getting its new dragon kick debuff (all physical now) that equalizes things a bit too as well. Also from what we saw with PLD and WAR stance dancing isn't something you can do as freely anymore. We might be seeing a lot more consecutive damage coming in this raid tier. If anything party comps might be more interesting this go round due to role skills.

depends on if the fight requires stuns. PLD still has Shield Bash so that will at least guarantee it the MT spot in those fights.

I guess in Stormblodd the MT/OT thing will still be a stupid label used by the community, which just prevents tanks from using their potential to the fullest.

"I'm MT" or "I can only OT this" are things who only scrubs will say.

Those things just lead to.. example: Niddhog Ex fang&claw, WAR tanks Niddy when towers are destroyed (no more tank swaps required until 2nd Akh Morn and WAR could go full Butcher's while in Deliverence) but the "MT" PLD/DRK 'vokes because... he wants to do a Halone/Powerslash and wants me back to do Storm's Eye spam or what?!
Rather use cover+sheltron for that shield swipe proc and use your Royal Authorities plx.

One tank starts (the one with the most emnity build), then you apply a strategy where every hard attack is taken by a tank who can survive it, while losing groupwide the least offensive capabilities as possible.

"I gonna tank this from beginning to end" is, unless in certain specific contents, pretty meh.

I hate it when people assume pld should be doing stuns just because they have gcd stun skill. It's a dps loss because it's on gcd, unlike brutal swing or low blow, or heck, even drg's leg sweep. It may break your combos depending on when you need to stun. It freaking costs 120 TP, on one of the jobs that have the biggest issues with TP drainage. Nah, unless it's an emergency or when you're learning new content pld shouldn't be the one stunning stuffs.

Doesn't matter anyway, as long as they keep off GCD stuns with damage on them, DPS will use them in their rotations making everything immune to stuns when you actually need to stun them.

My point was that in contents where failing to stun something would result in a wipe or serious damage, stun priorities should go war/drk > dps > pld. But everyone seems to assume pld should have the highest priority when it comes to stunning targets.

I think that Warrior's spot is less guaranteed. We're losing path (which was an excellent debuff for mitigation in progression), and it seems like ninja/samurai will also maintain slashing debuff as part of their normal rotations (whereas in 3.x ninja lost dps for doing so, so having a warrior was a dps increase for both tanks AND the ninja). That means that warrior is effectively a tank that brings zero raid utility, and we all saw how well classes with no raid utility do in the meta during this expansion. If content is punishing enough to require or reward raidwide mitigation, DRK/PLD could end up being a preferable composition.

It's also possible that we'll be looking at fight design that doesn't rely on raidwide mitigation, in which case warrior's higher personal DPS will probably be in demand again. It's far too early to tell what the meta will look like.

It is more for Stun duration. A Paladin can stun lock a target for 10s (6s, 3s, 1s), White Mage 7s (4s, 2s, 1s) when everyone else is stunning for only 5s, 4s or even 3s.

Yeah i know what you meant :) as far as i know war is losing their off-gcd stun btw.

Good news, never made sense to me why they would make interrupting abilities do damage forcing their usage in rotations. Wasn't only stuns but also silences.
