So, u guys never considered south american players when u did this server change?
we already used to play with 150 ms or so, wich ok, its fine since were across the ocean, but now, its 300ping or so... quite unplayable raidwise. and i already bought stormblood previously, so will SE give refunds for every south american player who bought the expansion previously and did not knew the ping of the new server would be terrible for us? or u guys going to fix it? Are u aware of it?

We are being routed to Europe indeed, but with VPN service like WTFast, we still get very high latency, in the 200s. Before the change, we could get 120-140. Combat does not feel smooth.

Im using an embratel connection, which is very close to the best I can get. You can have somewhat similar results (~200 to 210ms) using a VPN. However it is a lot worse than it was before... I was trying to get my friend to start playing again with me on Stormblood, but gave up on that idea since one of them is in London which is also going to suffer with bad latency as the rest of us. yeah, guludf, im at the same position. its playable, but feels terrible. everything seems like twice as slow. will be super horrible to play raids like that. i dont want to play "half" the game. i pay the sub to be able to experience whole thing.

SE themselves said the game was designed to be played in a 200 ping environment. If you're higher than that, taking a break (of you can't use a VPN) would probably be a good decision.

Same issue here, the problem my conection is going to EU before USA. Making my ping be like 300+, the ping was suposed to get better. But the route its a mess.

My friend said SE has nothing to do with that, it's on your ISP. If that's the case, I highly doubt SE will hand out refunds because your ISP is screwing you over.

As someone who battled left and right when the level3 issue was at hand (to put it in perspective, I had 2 minute spikes and around 500 ping when I didn't had those spikes), of course the issue was only with FF XIV so I changed my isp. Now this same thing again, so frustrating. Believe me, your ISP won't do shit even if it's 10, 20, 40 or 50 cases because it's not their problem. Once it leaves your country it's pretty much hands clean for them, believe me I've tried. This is on SE and no one else, they are the only ones who can do anything about it.
That being said, will most likely unsub if they don't give us a solution prior to stormblood, which will most likely not happen.

To sum this whole problem :
The only ones benefited for this were the people living on and near West Coast, and Australians by a few ms less. The rest of the US and Canada are slightly affected with 50ms avg more. EU and Central/South America are heavily affected, with Europe edging the 200ms limit. South America have a couple ISPs that are routing through Europe, and these ones are generating a leap from 150-180 to 300ms. Before the migration - and as you can see in my tracerts - there weren't any jumps on Europe, at least for my ISP (and it seems the others affected too). You can't play this game with 300ms.
If you're more interested to see where are those strange hops that pumps the ms up, you can google IP geolocation and put those IPs there.
Mods, anything to say about this issue? Thanks. And no, I don't wanna leave a game that I like and that I dedicated almost 4 years. -

Hasn't the server moved as far south as it would have moved west away from you? I suspect the route has more to do with the difference... I don't know what the deal is, but it seems that almost every ISP takes horrible routes to XIV servers, now no less than before.

Here is the NTT Routing Map. There does seem to be a lot of unnecessary hops for a lot of people. Hopefully that gets addressed. As you can see, even though the servers are in Sacramento the available routing options for NTT is pretty optimal for the majority of players.
Other than optimizing routing within the NTT network I don't see it getting significantly better for people in awkward places of the world (South America, North Eastern Canada) without having a second NA Data Center in New York. This is simply due to the size of North America compared to the JP and EU Data center locations.
TBH that is probably the most ideal routing by looking at the map. The only way it could get better is if Sao Paulo connected directly to Washington.Quote:

I already had moderate ping (150ms), now at 210 (almost 50% increase). My heals are slower (having troubles in a12s preys sometimes) and buffs take longer to apply (swifcast is AWFUL, it applies only after hardcasting the spell has started).

Even people not getting routed to europe are getting fucked. Thats because everyone with a bit of IT knowledge knows that the SA > NA connection is made by undersea cables that go...guess where? East coast. Thats one of the reasons why any decent game nowadays has a USW and a USE server, when talking about NA. Thats the minimum SE should've known, specially because the game is sold here, so we need to have some support.
My ping increased from 170 to 235. I'm not being routed to europe or anything, I'm just getting the same ping I get from any USW server in other games. I can even post some proofs of the difference in other games. But removing any chance of a server on teh east coast basically killed the game for us (at least killed any way to play competitively in higher levels). -
