NO!

You're not my real mom!
Oh I get it! Use all of them at the same time!
You don't pay my sub!
Grit and shield path are cool downs
I use Fight or Flight all the time. It's the only one that helps my DPS. No idea why they gave me all those other ones though or what they do.
Using CD's to mitigate predictable damage is one thing, meeting tanks (specifically Paladins) who don't even have flash on their hotbar is another thing entirely. Seeing this more and more, lately. Two in a row yesterday where a tank would run in (no lob), try to do aggro combos on single targets and never use flash. I look forward to the day they enter your Savage raid.
Bloodbath is a cooldown, right? /s
1. Turn around.
2. Raw Intuition.
I can't, mentors stole my cooldowns.
The healers are my cooldowns.
We will use cd when healer will dps
You mean use Foresight right? guys? he means foresight!
If I just let the DPS and healer take agro, I don't need them. Problem solved.
I would love to show Zurvan EX's add phase to tanks who don't use their cooldowns. That stuff hurts.
What's a cooldown? Are they like chips? I'm on a diet.
When I see "lol @ (insert weaker cooldown here)" what I read in my head is "I never use cooldowns except for every 90 seconds when rampart is up, or if i have 10 HP left maybe I'll hit Sentinel. I'm so funny my jokes are good".
Foresight and Bloodbath have their place and if you aren't popping them while tanking the specified type of damage (physical, etc.) and all of your bigger stuff is on CD or being saved for a future big hit, you're fundamentally tanking wrong.
Now now, let's not pretend like there aren't plenty of people who haven't been carried in some shape or form, especially in the currently overgeared 'waiting for Stormblood' state of the game.Quote:
You assume these tanks can clear the normal raid?
And lots of emoji and chat spam, with accompanying sound fx of course, in the macro to make sure people are aware of how awesome you are because you used your basic abilities.
Extra points if they are worded like they were written by a terrible fan-fic writer trying to rp.
I don't think you're appreciating the sarcasm in these responses. This thread turned out to be hilarious (which was not the intent, but I heartily approve).
Almost everyone here knows to use defensive cooldowns. At the same time, we have all encountered tanks who, for whatever reason, won't use them. So the replies are poking fun at those people with one of the oldest forms of humor known to the net: communal sarcasm.
No need to be a buzzkill. :p
EDIT: I really hope this doesn't kill the thread. I've been enjoying it and would hate to see it die. :(
I guess I just don't get the humor :X They'd be much better butts-of-jokes if they weren't all good cooldowns for their intended uses (trash damage, autos, supplementing some stronger cooldown) but none of them fall short in those particular areas of use so.. yeah. =/
When I think of butt-of-a-joke ability I think of like Haymaker or something. Or CC Savage Blade/Skull Sunder.
Could you be more specific? As in Job would be a nice start? If you just have bad luck with crappy players well You can always black list them. Problem solve. You won't party with them. Also, play styles vary and yes there are some really crappy...er in experience players who think they know their job. So yeah it's to be expected. Welcome to the world of online gaming.
In the tank forums, things like this go to ALL tanks who refuse to use cooldowns or use them incorrectly. (IE: using everything you have before the next pack is even on the screen) PLD, WAR, or DRK, anyone of them.
Usually poking at the people themselves, not the jobs.
Lately so much hate for tanks, however it's also a matter of how a tank is raised. Example tanks under geared , party over geared, Raising a tank in POD or fate grinding rather than through dungeon experience. Lets face facts, most tanks that are over gear don't really see point of CD in old content or some of HW just because its too easy now. Sadly tanks that raid or do endgame seem to be more competent in my personal experience. For those who mentor all we can do is give tips, unfortunately too many people are delicate and cant take creative criticism. Mentors have hardly no patience now a days, non tanks usually expect speed runs with out taking into consideration their experience level. So solution, build your own party, black list incompetent tanks, or realize that people pay subscriptions and they can play their own way. Also the stronger people get the less mechanics they like to use so people shouldn't be surprised.
Back in 3.0, it was funnily enough how you would actually use Raw Intuition, except with your back towards the HEALER and not the mobs. It was bugged back then and healers could CRIT heal you for the duration of Raw Intuition. It was so hilariously broken it was the greatest CD there ever was and you would find WARs who would hold the mob pack facing the party resulting in frontal cones aimed at the poor BLMs.
