I must not be the only one who DOES NOT use click and buy ever...and just now I realized click and buy charges you a fee if you dont use the account on a regular basis..
Please PLEASE allow paypal as a payment method.

Before trolls troll:
1. No, not everyone has Paypal in Ultimate Pay.
2. No, not everyone has Ultimate Pay.
3. No, not everyone can buy Crysta.
Please add this SE! Support the people supporting you!
I agree that everyone needs secure option, or at least options that there region as a whole can be generally comfortable with.
Oddly enough...if I go to add crysta I do have ultimate pay and a paypal option...what an awkward system...I did buy 1k crysta but I have yet ot see it in my account...
Hope it just takes a while to "load".
Just treat us the same as they treat the Japanese region, bill us directly, so we can pay SE directly by Credit card for auto-payment option. This is a must have payment option, direct CC payment is the basic of all option and the mother of all payment methods.
Take damn responsibility and let us pay with visa like every single damn internet shop in existence! Paypal is nice and all but direct Visa charge like XI is an absolute must. I know you're trying to avoid effort but billing is sort of important.
As long as we get normal credit card options as well I wouldn't mind, but Paypal is a payment option I refuse to use.
Actually the fact that Square Enix for some reason (is this japanese law or something?) cannot take money directly from us makes me angry. Every other mmo you set up an account from them and you pay them real money for the mmo. For SE in FFXI you had to go through payonline which they created, to take our money because they couldn't. Now we have crysta or clicknbuy, why take my currency and turn it into to your currency, figure out how to take cold hard cash straight from my visa, I don't like middle men for anything.
International law, and SE used POL as a means for taking direct payment, once they removed that they have to go through a process in order to actually allow direct CC payments because of all of the fraud in recent years with websites taking your CC for payment this is why you generally had to set up with a service like that. This is why if people didn't complain about POL because they had to do more than 1 click to get into FFXI/FMO they likely would still be using it and there wouldn't be a hassle for some users.
It's also technically not SE's fault that some countries just run differently when it comes to online payments, for example SEA nations have something equivalent to Paypal but not exactly like Paypal, you can't realistically expect every company overseas to automatically support it.
There's some additional steps and upkeep SE would need to accept direct pay from other countries legally (per country basis). And some financial institutions that offer services to cover those steps/upkeep/transactions, in this case, clickandbuy, handling that overhead and legal funstuff in many countries already.
I really don't understand why it's so complicated. I played Lord of the Rings Online for awhile. You log into your turbine account, click credit card, select plan, enter credit number...and........ they bill you the amount the charge! What a concept! One page, one whole page, you click accept! That's it! Why SE is doing all these different things is beyond me. Hard to make FFXIV into a competitive MMO when you can't even make a simple billing option like almost EVERY other MMO on the market.
Turbine has gone through the legal steps to do business transactions like this in the U.S.
If memory serves (and it doesn't, cause it's real fuzzy), when FFXI was released, Square did not take credit cards that did not have Japanese billing addresses (I might be getting confused with other company).
During an audit some of this comes back to haunt companies. I don't understand all of the mechanics, I just know accounting gets this funny look on their faces.
Greetings,
I wanted to make sure that everyone is aware of our latest update regarding direct credit card billing implementation. This update was made alongside the implementation of our Crysta free-entry update:
Quote:
The previously announced Fall 2011 implementation of direct credit card payments is still under development and should be ready soon. We apologize for the wait, but we will make an announcement once an exact implementation date has been decided. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
finally.....
Well, did anyone remember that stupid verify by visa and mastercode problem on xi. I rather not deal with that ever again.
I've had my own incidents that... well, would prefer not to repeat.
edit: Not related to the security side.
But now I'm a rainbow of optimistic UNSANITY!

All VISA and MasterCard CC carriers and major banks have this. For debit cards if you're having problems you should call your bank, some banks will need to replace your card. If your bank doesn't support 3DSecure or Verified by Visa AT ALL you need to find a better bank.. or apply for a credit card.
You will be surprised how often RMT use stolen CC accounts to login.
Forum: "I hate Click&Buy, why can't SE just do direct credit card payments like FFXI and WoW?"
Devs: "OK, we're working on allowing you to pay directly with your credit card."
Forum: "Oh no, now we're going to have that 3D Secure crap like FFXI."
Seriously, we're getting what we asked for, can't people just be happy for once?
OMG Answer to my prayers!!! <3
Not to be a negative Nancy here, but unless I'm reading it wrong, they're not saying it will definitely be ready by the time we have to pay to play.
I would rather we have the security to minimize the amount of RMT than the convenience and have more RMT.
As you've said, RMT are mostly stolen CC accounts.
Players compete against RMT or bots, may affect enjoyment and/or economy.
Victim of credit card theft files for fraud, gets refund, process for reparations.
Game company refunds all money stolen from victim, profit loss, time invested.
If RMT weren't stolen, at least game company would benefit from software purchase and subscription cost.
Thank God, I probably won't play til this option comes out. I have read some really nasty things about Click and buy or whatever it is called. Though I just remembered they do have the $20 Ultimate Gamer Cards you can buy and use that to purchase Crysta. So that may be the route I take.
And, just as an FYI, neither MasterCard or Visa will do business with you unless you support VBV or 3D Secure. And any retailer/business that crops over the threshold of transactions that are fraudulent (1%), will get reduced service from both. Moan and scream at SE for as long as you like, but as Jennestia says, it's MC and Visa's systems and they are both systems are here to stay.
Edit: Realised I fail at quoting ; ; I lose internets
Yep I think square started doing this because of the "fraudulent charge" charge-back problem they had back in mid 09. They are doing this to protect themselves from that problem and for the customer. It's a mutual benefit honestly for the company and customer from RMT theft.
Only those that are narrow sighted have a problem with it.
o.0 holly crap!!! really? I didn't know this I signed up with click and buy when this game first came out over a year ago and i quite the game within the first week and am now going to come back for patch 1.20, does that mean click and buy has been charging me fees for the past year for not using it? Since SE is now allowing us to go directly through my credit card I am just going to do that when billing starts, but if click and buy does in fact charge you for not using them can someone tell me how to cancel it?Quote:

There is no real difference between Click-and-Buy versus PayPal. They provide the exact same function.
This is good news, but as I've made clear to people in my Linkshell, I will not be paying to play until this is actually implemented. Being in a non-Crysta country, my only other option is Click&Buy and I just don't trust them enough to run the complex system they say they run.
