Are high lvl players normally rude?

I have been in a few dungeons for my first time, where I nicely asked the tank, who was a high level character, if we could do the full dungeon. He ignored me, then started running through the dungeon. I asked if we could go back to a door we missed, and he said I was being rude by making them do boring things. The DPS also joined and started saying the same stuff. About what percent of people are like this?

There is an old saying. The larger a group is, the more chances you will encounter non friendly people. It happens. Some just are scrambling to get their daily done before they leave for work, or school. Others have 1,000 other reasons. All you can do is be polite in asking. If you want to see a whole dungeon and debate the hieroglyphs on the walls, then I suggest making your own party. Should not be too diffuclt to ask in a major city like limsa or Idyl for people.

Impossible to give a number. You'll run into idiots every now and then, which is unavoidable on the Internet. There's definitely far less tolerance in level 50 and level 60 content since a lot of players have been speedrunning/farming those for years and they just want to get on with their day.

If I see New Player Bonus in a leveling dungeon as tank, I will ask if the new player wants a full clear for the map but I've only ever had one person take me up on it. The standard in leveling dungeons isn't to full clear, so the party wouldn't have gone in expecting to full clear. It is rude to completely ignore you, harass you, or if they are pressed for time and can't do a full clear to at least not explain the situation. If you want to guarantee a full clear (or any non-community-standard run such as watching CSes in Castrum Meridianum or The Praetorium) I would also recommend making a Party Finder group. Otherwise for leveling dungeons you can go back and solo all the ones pre-50 after you are level 60 by using the "unsynced party" option in the Duty Finder. If you are on your servers Novice Network, you might also ask if there is a tank or full party there that is willing to help you with a full clear.

I would not at all call this rude, maybe it is a bit unreasonable in your eyes, but not rude! If 3 out of 4 people are not interested in exploring a whole dungeon then why do you call it rude if they keep going?
If I were in that situation and 1 person would keep going like "Can we go back?", "I want to explore everything.", "Don't rush, I want to see all." then it might be irritating for them, when it is already clear, they are not interested in doing so? :/
People are usually in there, because of daily tomestone grind and therefor want to get it done fast. I think you will find out, once you hit level cap. :)

Don't get me wrong: I like to kill literally every mob in a dungeon as well when I am leveling, but if the majority of a party isn't interested, I have to adapt and get in that dungeon one more time and hope to find a party willing to play the way I want to. Or, like suggested before, open a PF saying "dungeon XYZ exploration run, be patient and bring time to see everything".

While I wouldn't generalize all high level players, you will definitely run into a good portion of the population who are not receptive to going out of their way to accommodate new players, especially in duty finder. To them, you're just another stranger who they will never talk to after the instance is over; they are under no obligation to exert the necessary effort to contribute to your positive gaming environment. You are not in their Free Company, Linkshell or friend list, so why should they bother when there is no incentive? You know what, the game even gives them valid excuses, such as how you could have formed a fixed party for a full clear or revisit lower level content by yourself in a future unsynced run. Similar situations exist when it comes to watching cutscenes for full party duty finder content - often the party will just move on without you.

That is the current reality.

They may try to justify their behaviour by saying they don't have the time or become defensive and accuse you in turn for being unreasonable. It boils down to different needs and wants, practicality, plus the unwillingness to admit they are impatient. I am neither condoning nor defending their actions but am simply laying it out like it is.

Let's face it: if you just started out and have not joined a Free Company or had an opportunity to make some friends at the same level, you may have some trouble getting a fixed party together for the purposes of carrying out a full clear of a dungeon using the party finder. In essence you would be relying on the kindness of strangers, because a large segment of the gaming community believes maximizing one's time in a MMO game is the expected and acceptable norm; it becomes a race for achievements, vanity and social acceptance vice a form of casual entertainment to be enjoyed at your own leisure. Everything else that falls outside of what is perceived to be the best use of time becomes a chore, a burden or an annoyance.

If you have no luck with party finder, your best bet is to find a free company with members who share your play style and run content with them whenever possible.

Good luck. I hope you do not become the very thing you dislike about high level players in the future.

I have a general Question just coming up in my mind: Is it really rude if I simply don't want to help a person?

Just to make it clear: I, personally, am a helpful person. Grabbed mentor status to be able to enter Mentor-Roulette (not wearing crown tho, because of bad experiences). Posting here on forums (mostly german) mostly trying to give helpful advices (besides fooling around in off-topic xD). I don't mind moving out of my way to help others (run dungeons or trials or raids I don't need/farm birds I already have/join practice or kill partys even though I have the kill already).
So this is just a general thing I am interested in.

My opinion to my own question: I don't think it is rude. Of course it's not nice either, but if someone asks me to help and I, for whatever reason, don't want to, it should not be considered rude.
Not talking about people insulting others or calling bad names or whatever of course! That is what I consider rude! But when someone is asked to help and he just says "No, I don't want to/ can't.", how can that be rude? :o

Well in one viewpoint these players have most likely done said dungeon a million times, but i think if one is qued for and do say a low level dungeon new players are to be expected and i myself always help.
So while the idea of maybe not wanting to do a full clear of the dungeon may not be rude, i think him calling you rude for asking to do an area you missed is rude and he clearly does not know what rude means....

Keep in mind that even though you might still be leveling, a higher level player probably is not. Even if they are, tank ques are the quickest of all the types and it's a net loss in EXP to run the whole dungeon every time rather than just doing what needs to be done to clear the dungeon and re-quing. Even while leveling, I would not run full dungeons, it's not efficient.

It really depends on the tank and if they are a mentor or not. For the most part Mentors will help with the exception of a few trolls here and there. There's only a few dungeons, mostly old ones up to lvl 50t hat have multiple rooms. We tanks like to do speed runs being we have other things we try to accomplish. Normally if I'm tanking and someone ask I'm willing to if the group agrees. Otherwise I advice to do hunt logs ( Job / Company ) for fast exp or fates while in queue being that now you can have choco out and makes them go faster. You can also ask help in the novice LS for a tank or ask an FC / Friend to tank for you a few runs.

I don't know percentages but some people can be rude. I wouldn't let it deter you from playing. The good news is all the dungeons before Heavensward you'll be able to enter solo and explore on your own. I did that recently to get some achievements I had missed in the older content by not exploring the entire dungeon. It was actually way quicker too since you're going unsynced (sp?).

Anyway, people all play the game differently or as my grandfather always said..."Share a joke, hum a song, pass some special joy along. But if someone should come your way, who doesn't share your joy today, the hell with them." :)

If i tank a low level and i see people need exp, regardless of actual level, 9 or 59, i always ask if they want a complete run. Unfortunately, when i dont tank i cant assist them. I always try to be respectful. But sadly thats not the case for some people. If I'm in a rush for something, i dont subject others to my schedule as its not right.

That behavior is quite common but not all the time by high level's. If you want a percentage, i would say around 75% when it comes to "low" level dungeons.The problem here are not the community or players, it's the way SE makes us do things. Adding every little/low level dungeon to the roulette's, or to daily/weekly tasks for high levels to finish up, makes it very frustrating and time consuming at times.

Now I understand that low/new players don't want to wait hrs in the duty finder and that having veterans helping out is nice to have, however let's take cutters cry for an example. Most of the time the tank or healer leaves right away, meaning that the dps have now to find new players, that can sometimes depending on the time and data center take longer then just re queue.

Other times because it's low level, the whole dungeon is at a different pace compared to obviously the high level dungeons, also you're having less freedom in your rotations since mostly you're left at 4-6 buttons, making some runs extremely boring.

Anyway back to cutters cry, if you find a tank/healer that stays, these people will not run that whole dungeon for you, especially since potd has been added to the game.

Sometimes you can find some kind souls that have couple hours to spare and remember how it have been, and they will do that but it's not the majority.

In fact it's save to say by now, that it's more the majority rushing/skipping dungeons/mobs/bosses/mechanics etc. if possible.

Sometimes I think people hope for achievements at the end of the day aka "run cutters cry in 1.5 minutes) or some bs lol. But yea, sadly to say, it's not as patient anymore compared to the old arr times but that can be a positive thing as well.

personally if a person is new and wants to full clear/get discovery I do not mind, but it is a grey area to be honest. Some people plan their roulettes around a schedule and as such are trying to go for a quick clear. Still, calling a new player "rude" for asking for things is a bit overboard, but our community does tend to be passive aggressive as hell at times :P That said though, keep in mind some people will just tell you they find it inefficient/time consuming to do so, they will explain it in a nicer way to you but ultimately the result will be the same.

Asking for help politely isn't rude.
Refusing to help someone isn't being rude.
Ignoring someone who asked for help (or anyone that is obviously talking to you) is rude.
Calling a person who asked for help (assuming politely) rude is just plain silly.

You should remember that ultimately you are playing extremely outdated content. You mentioned a door, so I can only imagine you are talking about.... thousand maws of toto rak? While you would get some players up for helping new people, a lot of people just want to get in and out because they have done that dungeon several hundred times over the past 4 years (longer if you were part of 1.0), and that dungeon in particular isn't seen as particularly enjoyable by a fair few people (I affectionately call it "thousand snores of toto rak" as an example).

On top of that, if we are talking about optimal levelling, running the dungeon fast would level you up faster and exploring everything has very little incentive, though I don't think that applies to you, as you just want to explore. Sorry that you got caught up in the busy rush of endgame grind during levelling anyway, I personally think it is unfair to have newer players conform to endgame ideals, but that is the fault of the system, not the players, so it is a bit more difficult to complain about.

People like that have forgotten what it's like to truly enjoy playing the game. It's quite sad, but it seems like it's inevitable once an MMORPG lives longer than a year or two.

really, if you're one of those my-way-or-the highway people, stay out of the DF. You're going to meet all kinds in there, and should be prepared to cater to whatever group you happen to land in. If you don't have the patience for it, don't do it.

The they just want to finish fast or they've is done it a millions times excuses are lame. If you don't want to run the dungeon stay out of the roulettes. most of the people I've met in game would not have treated you this way and would have helped. I would have helped. Sadly there are completely self absorbed players in the game too. My advice is find a FC or linkshells that are helpful and active going in with even a partial premade can help.

I wouldn't say it's a trait unique to high level players. Any manner of players can be rude and uncommunicative in a run. But there are a fair number of endgame players who have several roulettes to get through, not just the one dungeon, which can explain but not excuse their poor attitude.

I tend to go with what the whole group wants. If someone asks for a full clear I'll ask the other two people if they're okay with that. If they are, we'll explore the whole map for you.

This type of experience that the OP is posting about is probably the main reason that past a certain point all new dungeons are linear and abandon the "exploring" options.

But parties still find a way to "speed" it up by creeping past certain mobs (looking at you slumbering dragons)...

Unfortunately some players are like that. They tend to be the players who run the same things over and over and over to farm them for whatever item/bonus/currency they need. Speed and efficiency is all that matters to them.

Fortunately, most people are NOT like that.

Personally I'll ask at the outset if we want a full clear or just a run through whenever I see we have a 1st timer in the group, or a sprout. If there is no answer, I'll start off slow, just in case someone is thinking it over. But, I'm not a speed runner, nor do I spend my time burning out by farming content.

I wouldn't really characterize someone saying they don't want to do what you want to do as rude. However, there's really no incentive for a level capped character to full clear dungeons most of the time, so I wouldn't count on said players to want to spend a significant amount of extra time to make sure the dungeon is fully cleared just so you get a bit more XP or whatever.

It really depends on the wants and needs of a player, imo. You can't just single out someone as rude because they said something rude to you. I mean... maybe they've been in that dungeon 1000 times and you don't know it. Not everyone is helpful but some are. This game's endgame has some notorious players and when you are at endgame and have a noob in the dungeon I wouldn't be surprised if you did the very same thing you are complaining about.

Well, not all high level players are rude. In that case you just had people with you, which want to get through the dungeon quick. They want to do other things too. The rude thing here is not to answer you in the first place and attacking you by just getting the most experience you can get from the dungeon. It's a selfish behaviour of people, cause they just need the clear not the experiences. So you can expect that kind of acting, but other players are helpful and don't are locked behind a actual working schedule for a game. So expect that too and just ask the next party again.

But for some examples, why people act that way here are some things why they are doing it:
1. They want the Tomestones of Lore for their Relic.
2. They want Singing Clusters for their Relic and for that they want to clear a low level dungeon fast, cause its boring to them.
3. They are mentors addicted to the fact there is a huge mount waiting if they cleared instances 2000 times. With that number in mind they wanna save every minute, to get another clear during the day.

Thats the main reasons I guess. No loot is waiting for high level players in dungeons like sastasha or haukke manor, which they couldnt get with the undersized option.

I agree to the 2nd part, but think "rude" is the wrong wording, since it is just generally silly.

It is rude because the tank told OP they were rude for asking to do an area, which clearly the tank needs to look up the meaning of rude as he was it.

Given that we only have the OPs word on that I'm going to not take any stances on that. In that isolated case yes, but we don't know what was said, if anything. Either way, this isn't an XIV epidemic, and players that are rude in that respect are in the minority.

Exactly. It's the reason why I hope every raid and dungeon in the future is strictly linear so people can get all exploration achievements and loot by default. People skip rooms in PotD, afk in Diadem and avoid as many mobs and corners as possible in dungeons. It's a mess. I don't mind speed runs but denying others what they queued for does not a "friendly and helpful" community make.

To the OP, yes, people generally don't want to explore. I don't know the percentages but the vast majority default to avoiding anything that isn't moving towards the finish line. Your best options at this point are playing a tank job (so you have the most influence over the party), going back to the content solo at later levels or asking for people in the Novice Network chat to join for a full clear.

as a player i find it my job to help any new players that need me as a new >>ish<< tank i dont mind :) i all ways talk to my party to see what they want :) as for nasty players dont pay them no mind :)
