People afking in Diadem

Hi !

So I've made two Diadem run and have been with one guy who didn't do anything during our main objectives. He just took his reward and stand in the missing gem.

Do you think this kind of behavior could be reported? Cause the guy litteraly wait us to do the job for him.

Working as intended.

What did SE really expect by incencitizing Diadem runs with 280 weapons that requires no participation in anything but the EMs?
Obviously people would just go afk until it spawns.

Well now what I'd like to know is if I have the right to report this guy for...doing nothing.
I don't know if it's a sufficent reason for GM to consider it?

They really screwed the proverbial pooch with diadem design. It's worse then the old failure. Forget 1 guy, entire groups go in to do the mission then afk for 40 min waiting to see of there is a emergency mission spawn. I've been in diadems where all the groups are doing this, no fates being done past mission.

Compelling game play. They should have tied emergency mission spawn to a % chance to trigger from fate completions, but nope. Heard they confirmed at pax emergency isn't tied to fates

You could potentially report him for being AFK. The question is, will they actually do anything about that? Half of Diadem is afk, are they all going to get banned? What would the GM say? If one person gets kicked or banned for this, I expect every single other person AFK to get kicked or banned as well.

You can see how that would go.

Honestly, you should report that if the player made no effort to complete the objective, if they went AFK after the objectives were complete that's one thing. Though to go afk and do nothing, that is a form of harassment and should be notified.

There's a difference though, think of it like 24 man raid content, would you report a player that enters the instance than proceeds to do none of the content? That's the scenario the OP is talking about. It's one thing to go afk after the objectives are complete but to AFK upon entry and do nothing to assist the party is a form of grief that should be reported.

This is precisely because he didn't do anything during the main objectives and twice. Someone even asked him to come to help dps, no response.

Had the same thing happen in another run of mine. Really need a vote kick feature for this mode.

I asked near the NPC about how Diadem works, cause it sounded confusing to me. Someone actually said "Just go in and AFK until EM pops."

Joining the Diadem and refusing to do a single thing is a real problem.
You can't expect people to do the objective for you. Everyone need to do it together.

These people are doing this because they know we can't do anything against that.

Or how about after the objectives are completed entire parties leave making it that more difficult to complete the Emergency Mission if it pops.

Unmitigated, this is EXACTLY what just happened to me right now.

Almost every run now is some kind of horror story for me, but last night was a gem.

Get in, finish the mission in about 12 min, everyone flies up to check their loot. And then nothing, just standing there. I ask them if we're gonna do some fates for more boxes or if they intend on sitting on their butts for the rest of the run, they declare butts indeed. Then these lazy bastards have the nerve to tell me "well you're free to do as you wish". No, I am not. I entered to run with a party, not try to solo 4min fates for scraps! And I'm sure as hell not flying around for treasure boxes cause I refuse to let these guys free roll on loot for just standing around!! Follow that by one of the people saying "well running for damaged lockboxes are a waste of time if you know what you're doing". What!? Those are the frikkin loot! That's the point! And the final comment that just broke me was "well you should go fish or something". You bastards if I wanted to fish I wouldn't have entered diadem fury!

So I flew around, purple worm happened, yay, then at 30min I left. I'm glad emergency did not happen cause I was not going to help people like that in any way. And THIS is what has become of diadem in less than a week. You wonder why people sabotage the EM? They probably had a party like mine.

I suppose that can have a 2min afk auto kick that exists in Frontlines, though that can easily be circumvented via running to a wall or jumping every min ... but it's something.

Sadly, this was bound to happen. FATEs are notoriously hated and the only real complying reason to queue into Diadem is the Emergency Mission. That doesn't make it right, of course, but there needs to me more incentive to actually do things.

Sigh. So so SO disappointing that SE opted to just shove high level weapons in here for incentive rather than make fun content everyone can do. Sigh. This is what happens when you make raiders who only want the weapons feel forced to run this type of content

They should make Fate worth doing it, or open a hunt for big mobs with better rewards than fates.
Something that make us worth waiting for the emergency mission.

I remember the first time Diadem was around and maybe it's changed now, but to that time you had plenty of people just afking or going to gather, leaving parties with 2 or 3 people that couldn't do anything in there. When that was reported, we got the answer that we could use the player removal function, which we pointed out weren't available in the Diadem to that time. After that we've been told that sometimes issues like that could occur but that there's nothing that can be done, the only way we could avoid being frustrated is leaving the duty and taking the 30 minute lockout, as well as the 30 minute waiting timer before re entering via ishgard. Again I don't know if that has been changed and I am not writing this to offend someone or saying someone did a bad job, but if it is anything like the old Diadem, you're frankly out of luck.

Think on the bright side. When people go afk after objectives thinking that's productive, you can just drop group and queue again and finish another set of objectives while your previous group gets nothing done in the next half hour. You spend the same amount of time inside Diadem but reap twice the rewards. You also leave the afk people with less than a full group which isn't going to help with a potential EM pop.

Why do you want to farm boxes anyways? You only get 2-10 damaged boxes per fate and you need 40 to turn in, if you want loot you're better off leaving and reentering at the 30 mins mark so you get 10 guaranteed loot boxes. 10 guaranteed boxes = 400 damaged, and you won't get 400 damaged farming fates, so you get far more loot just doing the mission over and over.

How do you get 10 guaranteed? I only got some steel tokens when I did a matron run yesterday. No loot boxes.

I wish there was a kick feature for the people who afk the entirety of diadem. Like, if you want to be useless after we finish the mission, sure fine. I'm annoyed but at least you helped with the main objectives.

People who don't contribute out of the gate still get rewards after the rest of the party slowly slogs through the mission without them. Its not fair and theres no way to get them out of your group.

Fury mission gives you 10 boxes when completed.

Matron is for gatherers, you have to do fury if you want loot, spam fury every 30 mins and you can get yourself a few i265 pieces.

This is something they should address, missions are the main thing in Diadem, people who do participate should be reportable or they should not get any loot.

I'm bored, it's new, gear for alt classes, still need hunting hawk, whatever. If the entire party grinds fates, you can build up quite a ton of damaged boxes. If multiple parties grind down below together, double that. And I did leave at 30 min, if we could just leave after mission completion without penalty I would have gone then but I didn't feel like eating the penalty just cause my party was a jerk.

My arguement is mostly: So you want to do the EM, okay I get that. But you need a lot of cooperating people to finish it. So how about you work as a GROUP just a little? Cause if you hold me hostage doing nothing for 15 min, you're not getting squat from me if EM pops. I have my relic, so the little boost in stat from the diadem weapon isn't crucial to my existence.

I really hope they do. In one run I had 2 dps immediately park themselves on NPC island. Even after the other healer switched jobs we struggled through the entire mission, and leaving wasn't an option because of the 30 minute lockout :(

Actually there is no penalty (lockout) for leaving after the mission is done (sack spawns and you get your loot). The only thing is the 30 min cooldown on entry that might still be counting down since runs average 10-20 min so you would have to wait to requeue.

Like Vaer said there's no penalty, just a 30 mins cd that starts right when you enter, by the time you finish the objectives this cd should be around 15 mins left.

Your logic is that since you're bored everyone else in the party should do an extremely boring task (grinding fates) for basically no rewards, and if they don't want to grind for no rewards they are jerks and deserve no help with EM, even though you'd also get 3 guaranteed i265 pieces from EM? I'm sorry but it's not your party that is being a jerk here.

You can't force people to do what you want, you can start your own premade with the mindset of grinding fates if you want, I'm sure you can find other like-minded people in your entire server. As it is the content was designed around do objectives and then do whatever you want afterwards.

Here's the thing with that. I completely agree that everyone should have to participate in the mission, but afterwards, no one should feel that they HAVE to do fates. If they want to afk, or craft (what I do) or gather, that's up to them.

See, this is where the problem lies. You need to cooperate as a party to get things done in Diadem, but there's absolutely 0 incentive to step a foot outside the base if there's not a boss fate or EM going on. So when one person wants to run fates, you're SoL if no one else wants to grind Broken Lockboxes for an hour.

So, basically, the i280s, the weapons that upset so many people were added as incentive to run the Diadem. Yet all they did was somehow make it harder on anyone that wanted to do anything in there other then farm them?

You know they fucked up when people prefer 1.0 farming dinosaurs for hours over this.

I'm so scared for Eureka after this. PoTD must have been a lucky toss because SE has proved time and time again side content is not their strong point with this game.

I absolutely agree because going in with random people is complete chaos. I never had such a smooth run in Diadem until I went with my FC buddies. We did our objectives, grind a few fates, and to add a cherry on top, an EM mission popped and we beat it with no troubles at all. We left afterwards because we did what we wanted to do.

Oh and I can definitely say that I'm happy with my Anima weapon because the 280 wep for my main dropped. I didn't get it but the person who did says that the stats were bad. They linked it in the chat, and they weren't lying.

Finally saw my first EM but there was only 10 people left out of 72. Needless to say, we wiped.

I don't see a problem with people afking for diadem.
Although it's probably rude to queue with random people and going afk straight away, probably best to help out with the mission objectives first in case the majority of the party wants to do it.

And if you want to do the Emergency Mission, you're better off not kicking the afk person to be honest, as he can help for the EM.
It's not efficient in any way, it's simply to appease your urge to cause harm to him.
On top of that you lose a LB bar.

It doesn't hurt you to not kick the afk person, instead you just gimp yourself by kicking him.
Whether you have 1 afk person or a 7 people party, it's the same. You don't lose anything by keeping him.

honestly, I would too. Its just a waste of time. The chance of actually getting the weapon is too low for anyone to take it seriously. There are other things I'd rather do than just set myself up for disappointment.

I don't want to make my own topic for this, so I'm just going to say this here.

I'm not exactly sure what's the bigger issue here. People afk because they have no desire for the mission rewards/fate grinding or people leaving the instance right after the mission is completed, leaving you with a fragmented party that can't participate in boss fates and EMs at all.

This was obvious already, but after witnessing both situations multiple times, I have to say, Diadem 2.0 is very poorly implemented.

You have two groups of people who are in the place for two different reasons. One group wants brass spoils and, possibly, to farm fates for more Lockboxes. The other only has interests in EMs and possibly boss fates. These two groups don't mix well at all because the guys there for their guaranteed 10 lockboxes will leave as soon as that drops, leaving the other group wanting to participate in EMs behind.

I know SE probably doesn't care what they give us this close to SB, but jeez. At least let us add members from the duty finder menu. Or better yet, let us join other parties inside the Diadem, so by the time an EM spawns, we're not left with a party consisting of 3 DPS.
