More than anything what I enjoyed the most in other MMOs is the ability to have alts concentrating on their specific jobs (FF14 term). I only want the ability to have the alts share storage and resources rather than having just one guy be everything. I find the limitation/restriction of just having one char with multiple jobs ridiculous.
It would not be earth shattering to come up with it or that hard to implement. In other other games I have played you can.
Why can't I enjoy all races and jobs in independent characters? Makes NO SENSE at all!!

Being "everything" on one character is this game's niche. They aren't going to be changing that at all. If you want to play different races make alts or use Fantasia potions. If that still doesn't help you, maybe this game isn't for you?

I don't mind leveling a job again on an alt. I actually really enjoy leveling stuff again. But I do feel that since we are paying more for alts, we should get some special features to make it a bit easier to do things between characters.

I think sharing storage is fine as long as its restricted to a server by server basis, otherwise the various markets would collapse.

On Square Enix's side, yes, they must improve the quality of life in-game by allowing alternate characters under the same account to share housing and to be able to "trade" between them, you definitely don't want to share inventory because that would mean reducing the total space available!...
In order to implement trading between alt characters (under same account) Square Enix would have to create a system where players could log in with up to eight characters at the same time (max under same world) so that they could switch between them immediately to actually "trade" items!...

The game allows you to do everything with a single character, but it's not forcing you to. If you prefer each character to focus on just one job, then do so. (In fact, you'll have an advantage at endgame that way, by having separate caps and lockouts per job.)
Your account can have eight characters per server. If you divide them between a couple servers (or a couple accounts) you could have a separate character for every job in the game if you want. You'd need to get the first 15 levels of another class for your job unlock (but face it, the first 15 levels is barely any time at all), and should eventually get several levels of a couple classes for cross-class skills, but at least on combat classes, you don't need to advance any of the secondary classes to end game levels. (Ok, Mantra is a bit of a stretch at PUG 42, but nothing else goes higher than 34. THM and MRD provide all their cross-class skills by 26.)
The only big exception to this is for Disciples of the Hand. You do need to advance all the crafting classes on the same character in order to do well. So even if you split out your combat jobs between characters, you'd probably want to designate one of those characters as your crafter. Make everyone's crafted items with that character and pass them to the others through your FC chest. (Just be sure to either join or form an FC that will allow all your alts that access.)
This is not to say I don't think SE could do a better job of letting us coordinate between alts. It would be really nice to be able to pass items between them either through mog mail or a shared chest (like the FC chest, but shared between our alts rather than between our FC mates). And it would be good to be able to share a personal house with our alt characters. But even while working within the system we have now, you can already separate out jobs between characters if you want to. -

Make a few thousand gil, send it to your alt, delete. Wash, rinse, repeat. That's one of the ways RMT bots make all that gil that they sell to people. The in game economy would crash because gil would be effectively worthless since you can just make hundreds of alts and send money back to your main.Quote:

If anyone ever played Phantasy Star Universe, they may recall a system that was basically a drop box in you living quarters that could be accessed by all on the same account. I very much wish that system could be used in this game, as it seems (to me) the simplest way to address the issue. Furthermore, should the previously stated option come to pass (dropbox share) I would like to see unique/ untradeable items bee included. (main character to alt character on same account, not losing unique/ untradeable tag but instead being account locked.)
