A periodic table.
Chemist? I don't follow...You mean alchemist? @.@;
An Alembic. We already have chemists. /endthread
"guns" that shoot potions. they would be "casters" so they would have to load the guns every time. the game has one-handed swords and two-handed swords, it can deal with two-handed guns too.
Cedric pls, maybe this topic might help OP: http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/forum.htm...542927012&h=50
I know what they were meaning. Secondly: I Highly, HIGHLY doubt we'll ever get a 'chemist' battle job on top of having an alchemist crafting job. That would just be ridiculously redundant. Hence why I said the only weapon a 'chemist' will have is an Alembic. Sorry to burst bubbles.
No bubbles burst! I have to say I do like the idea of throwing potions at mobs LOL xD drink an elixer and go berserk like u see in Astrix & Obelix : https://latelyalot.files.wordpress.c...12/asterix.gif
Alembic as sword and Mortar as shield
They'd use a miracle weapon to be in this game
No. Just no.
If they go by final fantasy tactics:
The best weapons for chemist in that game were pistols that used elemental spells instead of bullets. They could wield a magitek gun that fires healing energy and then some sort of "negative" energy for dealing damage.
Pretty sure a comment was dropped by the devs a while back that they might have considered Chemist for HW but scrapped it for Astrologian.
Even if you ignore the DoH dilemma, every weapon they have been known to wield also has seemingly been taken already, so hoping for Chemist at this point is like still holding a torch for the Thief job.
Then again, I suppose it's not impossible, XIV has taken some liberties in the series.
Anyone noticed it's the same person who also made the "no 4.0 raid" thread? I think some people just wanna see the world burn :D
For starters, it wouldn't be a "chemist". Too much potential for confusion.
As for a weapon, why not go for broke? Give it a mortar cannon that fires potions at people and call it "grenadier" to ensure no confusion can be made as to what it is. Problem solved.
Definitely Bells :P
So basically these guns.

If you go by earlier iterations of Chemist, it'd probably be a dagger and pistol combo.
Personally if Chm is coming, I'd like something like a backpack or bag, sort of like this from Big Hero 6:

Obviously not 1 for 1 but along the lines of a Chm is going through their bag for the item etc and a bag is unique without treading on another jobs toes.
Also hi going on 4 year old necro XD
What did they use in FFT? A single knife? Could also base them off the FFX-2 alchemist which would mean an SMG and belt full of potions to throw at people.
Besides the change in name, I think this could possibly reasonable work; this blew my mind a bit honestly because I've been thinking how a sort of gun slinging chemist would work out pretty well, but a grenade launching one would do even better!
I could see something like a syringer from Fallout. Ok I want to see something like a syringer from fallout, how absolutely funny would that be.
Likely if there were a chemist, it would be based off FFT, so the most logical weapon would be an elemental pistol- since mechanists already use guns the key difference would be these guns would use aether to create chemical reactions, which of course just like IRL can make a lot of neat effects (poison, acid, electricity, cold, heat). While potions are generally the main focus in discussions about a chemist job, since that's what they did in FFT, if we broaden it to aetherochemistry, something that exists in the game, there's actually quite a bit of potential for this class to be viable and unique.
My ideal chemist would use the gun for single target, and potions or chemical combinations for dots and aoe. If FFXIV were ever to allow it, I think it could be a dps or healer, perhaps have something like the AST sects except one is a dps and the other a healer form, and when you join DF it locks you into the heal stance if you queued as a healer to avoid abuse.
.. I'd like a potion hose with a backpack please.
Just absolutely ghosbusters II slime thrower style BLAPHTH all over my teammates.
It could spray aoe healing and lob potion blobs farther distances for targeted.
Also acid and tar debuff sprays for enemies, maybe hose them in flammable liquids to add vulnerabilities.
Carry it on your back

A XIV version even exists

You basically carry it on your back.
Oh that is nice looking, that cauldron is the bomb.
Final Fantasy Tactics the chemist job can equip daggers and guns.
So they could go either of those routes depending on if they want them to need to be close to DPS or not. Guns are more likely since I doubt they'd shake things up that much with a melee healer... though I feel like most healers tend to think they are melee jobs these days.
Also a more obvious answer could just be bottles.
Considering that Alchemy and Chemistry are different, I'd love to think Chemist would be a class in the game. Apothecary in its name sounds just as fine, even. Throwing potions and the like would be neat.
Personally love the two-handed gun idea even if Machinist has some abilities that allow them to briefly yield big two-handed arms.
They'd throw their potions directly with different mixes. Like Plague Knight from Shovel Knight... or you know, Chemist with Throw Potion in FFT or Chemist in FF5 using the Mix command on enemies to do things like instant death or inflict status ailment etc.
So their weapon would be vial or beaker or flask or something. Flasks made out of their own aether, such that they're solid and affect the mixture within. Maybe add cast times for the mixing :3c
A bottomless bag with an endless amount of flasks ready to be thrown to your friends heads of course
Has anyone suggested the Magun from FF:Unlimited yet?
It wouldn't be redundant at all. One's specialised in crafting, the other is specialised in combat. Aside from being a combat job in other Final Fantasy titles, it's a trope in other JRPG's as well. Octopath Traveler has them in the form of 'Apothecary'. They mix potions in battle to heal or deal damage and they wield an axe as their weapon of choice. Xenoblade Chronicles has character that acts as a 'chemist' who shoots healing projectiles at her allies and damaging bullets at her enemies. In short, there's plenty of ways in which a chemist based job could be implemented.
Earlier iterations would = Guns and Daggers. However since daggers and guns already belong to Ninja's and Machinists i think Chemist would have Vials as a weapon - which they throw.
