Looks like today is a new round of unable to connect to lobby or if you get in, its a DC a few mins later again. =/
I'm guessing it's the whole Primal data center that's having problems.
Yep, same here. Just started doing it a few minutes ago. I'm on Balmung.
Yep me 3 and a friend. We're in Oklahoma and Arizona. Our friend in Pennsylvania is staying logged in just fine.
Just did the same on Aether, started about 1:00 EST.
I'm having the same problem. Started last night but only DC'd me once and could play just fine after that. But I cant stay online so far today. And just keep getting Lobby 2002 error..
Looks like the same issue as two days ago, which was something about some ISPs and the Montreal servers. Some people can play just fine.
What they need to do is put the NA servers...in the U.S.A since the issue's usually revolve around the lvl 3 in canada... not sure why they would even put them there, blows my mind.
Well, it's not SE's servers, it's Level3's servers. There's nothing SE can do to make Level3 move their servers, unfortunately.
I route through Level3's Montreal servers to reach Cactuar. And that's where I start having issues is trying to get through the Montreal servers to connect to Cactuar.
I really am getting sick of this. I swear it's every freakin' week lately. Same crap 5006 or 2002 can't get it and there's barely anything that address it and it's almost always on Primal.
on pc, famfrit
Yea annoying when you cant even get past the lobby... Yet people from overseas playing on USA servers are just fine.
Actually most of the time the Level 3 issues are in the US, I'm i'm in Canada and this is only the second time (granted 2 in a week, but still) that a Level 3 issue has caused problems with me connecting to Final Fantasy and I've been playing since essentially the launch of 2.0. I'm also not entirely convinced that this is entirely a Level 3 issue, since I was having serious issues with logging in to the forums and the lodestone as well, not accessing them, but actually logging in with my account.
I don't know if it has anything to do with it, but Montreal is getting a lot of snow so there may be power outage issues and the like. Again, I have no idea if that could be the cause of any server issues.
On PS4 here. One minute, I'm watching a cutscene, and then I'm disconnected. Go to sign back in, get to the "start" menu, and 2002 error.
This is the second separate problem I've posted about in this forum within a week, and they still haven't responded about THAT issue.
Thank GOD that I didn't purchase a second copy of this game for my wife, because I'm about fed up with jumping through hoops just to play a video game. I mean, I get it...technical issues happen, especially in MMOs. But when you have a tech issue forum that people are clearly posting in, clearly having issues, and the fixes are hit-and-miss fixes that the COMMUNITY is suggesting, not any (or someone in touch with) engineer...you don't see a problem with that? WE are the ones trying to fix YOUR problems. And we pay for the "privilege" to do it.
SE, this is strike two. I promise you, your game isn't worth a strike four.
Im unable to get on either NA server, but the Euro server is fine. This sucks, anyone know when or if they will fix it?
You know, I could forgive 5 issues. But when absolute silence on my first matter (patching issue, leaving the game unplayable for a friend) is the response I get, followed by the exact same thing on this whole new issue...I mean seriously, nothing. To me, that's very poorly moderated, especially for a game with a subscription fee. Instead, you get...this. WE have to figure it out. I mean, I would take "you're screwed, no refunds" over the silence.
I've got plenty of other video games.
Also having issues with logging onto the Primal data center. I can log on to my alt on the Chaos data center just fine though.
Ah, I seem to have upgraded my error from 2002 to 5006. I have no idea how good or bad that is.
I asked a tech friend about this (because my character data/lodestone data isn't showing up at all either), and this is basically what he said:
Character information is not stored on the Lodestone, but rather, the Data Center/server your character(s) exist(s) on. The Lodestone pulls your character information from whichever Data Center your character is on. We'll use mine as an example: Cactuar. So, SE's website is trying to access Cactuar to retrieve my character data, but since it's hitting a roadblock, it cannot access said data, just how I cannot access the server (in my instance, my roadblock is Level3, which can be seen in my traceroute below). He said that it is possible the website is taking a similar route to the server that my computer is taking, and therefore hitting the same roadblock I am hitting.
However, I know that others are posting traceroutes that aren't showing Level3 anywhere at all in theirs. With regards to mine, though, I can see where the issue lies, and it's with trying to get past Level3's Montreal server to connect to Cactuar.Quote:

Someone also said that there's a lot of snowy weather in Montreal right now, so this could be just weather-related, and not Level3 being DDoS'd or a fiber being cut, or generally their servers being derpy. This is also something to consider.
With regards to the issues three days ago, though, Level3 did acknowledge on their Twitter account that they were having problems with their Montreal servers.
It is also worth noting that, while Level3 has the most operations in the US, it also has operations in other countries as well--and it serves as a major Internet backbone, which doesn't just encompass the US. Again, this may very well be a weather-issue, and not Level3 being DDoS'd or being derpy. But it's still something to consider that Level3 is not just limited to the United States.
Idk, I'm probably rambling now, but I'm thinking the issue lies in that some servers that some individuals route through are having issues (probably weather-related for those of us that route through Montreal's servers), and SE did acknowledge that the issues today lie with an upstream ISP.
No, people in Balmung also have issues. Same old song and dance every month or two. Thanks Square.
Yep. I was actually just on for about an hour or so, no issues then all of a sudden, while doing hunts, i just dc'd. No warning or lag this time, just BAM.
Going on 5 hours of not being able to log in....
Wow just came home... and STILL cant get to Lobby! Here I thought taking a break since I made this post would resolve, but nope!
Guess this is a sign to play Overwatch or FF15
they should go ahead and put all servers down and fix this issue I cannot even get to the character screen before getting disconnected
IDK if it's Sq-E or something down the line but I'm starting to get fed up with Dc's and Lobby Errors. Sq-E gets my money every month and I expect to be able to plat a stable game. If Sq-E has problems with server's in Canada ; It's up to Sq-E to fix or change those servers. Love this game but it's getting to be too much of a hassle to play.
Well, being that I play on PS4, on the screen where you put your login/password...there's a string of "news" that says something along the lines of "we are monitoring the situation, and have maintained a mostly stable connection" for all of the NA servers.
Well, that's something, I guess.
I'm still convinced this is a weather issue, but I think it should be noted that Level3 is responding to tweets about what's going on with FFXIV today, and are saying they will look into whatever is going on. Again, I don't think this is a Level3 issue, but it would be interesting to see what they say. (Other than "DownDetector is not accurate"...even if that statement is true.)
My last tracert (about 15 minutes ago) routed me through Level3 again. Took 18 hops to reach the server...and tons of packet loss along the way. Even with SE's post about most being able to have a "mostly stable connection" now, I still cannot connect to Aether.
I was doing fine for a few hours, logged on and off several times to do various RL things and always got back on. Now I'm back to the lobby error again for the past 30 min.
It may very well be the weather. I even tried my own tracert thing (I'll be damned if I can translate it though), and strangely, I see nothing about "Level 3" that I've seen in others, so does that mean that I'm not being routed through them?
Screw it, I'll post the result. Feel free to translate.

Based on what I know, Ormuco is also in Montreal, and it appears that you're hitting them on your way to your server. So no, you are not being routed through Level3. Level3 usually shows up as such in a tracert (speaking from my experience):
orQuote:
Montreal2.Level3.net
or some semblance of those two (Level3 is always in the address, though).Quote:
ORMUCO-COMM.Montreal2.Level3.net
It's been noted by some that Ormuco is also having issues (one poster...I think it was in another thread...posted that the couldn't access their website). Whether or not Ormuco has acknowledged that they are having issues, I haven't really looked into. I couldn't access their website earlier either, though it appears to be up now. But Ormuco is also in Montreal where Level3 has servers. Montreal has had some snow recently according to some people that live there, and I know weather can have a big impact on connectivity. So that's why I think this is ultimately just related to the winter weather, and not the fault of Level3, Ormuco, or SE.
Speaking for my last tracert I did, I was routed through Level3....and never could get any connection. My abomination of a tracert looked like this (starting from hop 4, right before I start getting all the requests timed out...before then was normal):
I'm no tech specialist, but my tracert still tells me that something is going on with Level3 (again, probably weather), and it's preventing me from having a stable connection to my server. I still can't even connect to my data center...I keep getting 2002 errors and booted. :cQuote:

GAH! It's gonna be -9 up that way tonight...light snow, but the lakes up that way can always change it. Let's face it- those guys are gonna have a real blast fixing those lines, if indeed it is due to bad weather.
Better break out the Carhartts, because some daddy in Kansas needs his FFXIV fix.
*facepalm*
Still can't connect either
This has lasted all day.
from 1pm EST to 741pm... and still cant get on. =( Then Maint at Midnight... so its like *Table Flip*
