So a lot of jobs had complaints in 2.x about their jobs, e.g. PLD is boring, WAR has no OT stance, SMN damage sucks especially in AoE. Etc. Etc.
So instead of making job adjustments, SE fixed these jobs through a level cap rise, 50-60 PLD got more combos, WAR got an OT stance, SMN got painflare and deathflare.
So great, that's fine, jobs are now improved. Problem is, you then force us back into level 50 capped content every chance you get... e.g. daily roulettes and wondrous tails.
So, if you're going to fix jobs through level cap raises... let us use all our skills while level capped.
Our stats will still be capped so it's not like these skills will be too strong in old content, it will just let us continue to use our 60 rotation at lower levels, applying the job fixes from the level cap rise to old content.

That is the entire point of an expansion. the 10 levels allowed them to create new zones for us to level through, new gear to craft and collect, and new raids, primals, and dungeons for us to challenge. 10 extra levels also requires new job actions and while they may have added actions with the intent of making jobs more interesting, they didn't increase the level cap specifically to make job adjustments (Which is exactly what they ARE doing for the Stormblood expansion.)Quote:

Also, most things in WT count if you run them unsynced. The only thing you can't run unsynced is the 24 man raids. -

Meh some people just like to argue. I understand that you are saying they added skills to improve a jobs composition so I won't fixate on "The whole point of the expansion" part. Anyone who has played a video game that had an expansion doesn't need an explanation on why expansions exist. I agree with you, there is no reason not to give us the abilities we have learned. In content that is 3 years old, at some point it just needs to die. Giving me a reason to run Satasha again, does not make Satasha any more fun than it was last time I ran it. Running Satasha with all of my abilities would probably make it more fun, but only for a couple of runs because.....its still Satasha.

Whoa! You are not forced to run outdated content. And I don't know if you can even call it "outdated". So long as there are new subscribers the 'older' content remains relevant. You also need to keep in mind that if you roulette this content, it's not just you that needs something in there. Whether someone needs it for their zodiac, is trying to unlock their roulette or doing WT, farming tomes or gear, or simply just enjoys the dungeon, everyone is in there for a reason. It's not just about you, and you do the FFXIV community as a whole a great service running these things, despite how eye gouging tedious it has become for you. It's typically a bad sign for a MMO when older content is truly outdated from my experience.
As for having 50-60 abilities in the older content, what you're asking for is the very important level restriction/sync to be lifted. It's not so much the potency of your abilities but rather their effects that make them OP in earlier levels. The content is not designed with these abilities in mind, but rather the abilities available to players at those levels. -

I've been toying around with the idea of making a gearset to be level 50 equivalent with the idea of unsynching stuff but still being at the 'proper' power level...
Of course...
Trying to arrange a party for that would probably be even more difficult than just getting a synched party, which is more difficult then finding people who would rather just faceroll it unsynched... -
11-25-2016, 12:26 AMKaurieIt depends on what you are doing. Most level 50 content can either be solod or killed with 1-2 others. For the EX Primals, I'd recommend a group of 3 (1 heal, 1 tank, 1 DPS), level 1-49 dungeons are an easy solo, level 50 dungeons are mostly soloable, but 1 other can help. You don't really need to arrange a full party, just 1-2 friends. You can even just make a PF, "Unsynced Garuda EX for WT" and I am sure you'll get a few people joining quickly.Quote:

The 50 dungeons were not tuned for this extra spike of power. There's no reason why we should have them in that content, assumming we are level synched. Frankly, they're easy enough as it is thanks to how generous the ilvl synch is. -

It'd be nice if every job at least had a proper "finished" combo available by the time you hit the level to do dungeons. If I'm doing lower level dungeons with friends I always find myself hovering to Monk just for the simple fact that you do have a nice combo of sorts in Bootshine > True Strike > Snap Punch in every single piece of instanced content.
Dragoons are a particularly noteworthy one here in that until you get Full Thrust at 26 you're stuck with the awkward situation of having two parts of one combo and one part of a different combo, and technically the highest damage option is just spamming the first part of that second combo repeatedly. This problem also exists in a way for the other jobs with a similar combo system, though they lack the separate combo aspect meaning you just end up pressing the first and second part of the combo repeatedly.
It'd make more sense as a build up for making people learn the Dragoon rotation if the level at which you learn Impulse Drive and Full Thrust were swapped around: It'd get a new player used to do the idea of having to hit abilities in a proper order to get a good pay off from it, since unlike the usual 150 > 200 > repeat potency cycle the payoff for three part combos is a definite noticeable increase in the damage the ability does. This is again true for most of the other melee/tank disciple of war jobs, though unlike Dragoon they lack the weird Impulse Drive interaction.
There's other somewhat problematic things as well, like Scholars not getting their Esuna equivalent until level 40, Machinists not getting their full "combo" until 35, or Paladins being the only tank that doesn't get their tank stance at level 30. But just making it so the various physical disciples of war get a full combo of abilities within the first 10 levels would heavily improve how they feel in lower level content in my opinion. -
