Do you think they should get rid of EXP bonuses for Palace of the Dead floors 51+

I'm asking because of an idiot in game who goes AFK during the floor 70 boss with no warning. They're level 54 machinst, and they died multiple times on the way to floor 70 (Once due to opening a silver chest a few seconds after hitting a landmine, when people should NOT be opening chests in combat/right after landmines), due to not really acting like they knew a thing they were doing.

Personally I hate that people can level up classes they know NOTHING about in Palace of the Dead, more so in the NEW floors, they're usually the biggest hindrance in the group.

I would say this is simply an issue that could be resolved with a vote kick. No need to strip the bonus from the vast majority who are not that one guy in particular.

Mmm no, they shouldn't. Although personally, I'm more in favor of removing the exp portion from group activity if it becomes a rampant problem, and increasing solo exp rewards dramatically. If you can make it through most/all PotD solo, especially if you're new or ignorant of how to play, I'd say you should be rewarded well for it lol.

No just no people should have a variety of ways to level up not just dungeons and fates because they had a few bad experiences with players that would still suck at max level.

I have to agree, just kick em. If they are just causing problems or AFKing, removing them from the party would make no difference in your progress.

Did you try talking to him to make the run easier? If so, did he ignore you?

Then vote kick him.

No, Palace of the Dead will be very usefull for leveling the new classes from Stormblood.

How does removing exp resolves your issue? People will be people, at any level inside Potd.


Jeebus. One bad night and someone decides something extreme has to be done, without even possibly thinking about the consequences of it.

I actually feel PotD should not have the insane amount of XP is yielding right now.
What I have found is that you get these incredibly incompetent players at higher levels because they have absolutely no idea of how their jobs work in an actual team dynamic scenario. Tanks can't tank, Healers can't heal, support just act like DPS and and DPS are just flailing their arms at anything that moves.

This is worse than FATE leveling. The player quality has been dropped to basically "bottom of the barrel" levels.

They 'listened' after we called them out on something multiple times, then just stood there doing nothing during the boss. We WOULD have killed it if they weren't being a waste of space. And this isn't the first time someone leveling up a class they knew nothing about has screwed over a run. And you can't vote kick more than once in a few hours, which needs to happen a lot once again the moment new content comes out (People demanding people skip as much as possible in palace and only sitting on the teleport thing for the next floor because they've done 'enough' on that floor)

Our "support" are DPS, though...

Or make it that only the own dmg give exp (like during 1.0 ^^)

If you take out EXP, a lot of people would simply stop doing potd. While it sucks you came across a jerk. That's bound to happen no matter what you do in game.

Same as a 4 people team WAR running around with Deliverance on just because he can do more DPS that way. As ridiculous as that sounds, it's the same we tanks, and healers feel about BRD's and MCH's when they rarely (or never) use their turrets and songs to help out with refresh effects.

How do you think people get familiar with a job? In your mind, how does that happen?

That's going to be different for everybody because everybody is different.

For instance I've been leveling SMN through PotD. Currently I'm 55.. I started at 50. That means I didn't have access to Dreadwyrm Trance and its associated abilities before PotD. Yet somehow I've managed to figure out how they work and what to do with them. Even in 2 minute dungeon floors that supposedly require no coordination. Btw that's nonsense because half the time I'm also tanking with Titan and if you think THAT doesn't require your team's cooperation you're out of your mind.

This same situation happened earlier on when people decided to level the jobs they didn't like through FATE's. But At least through FATE grinding it would take longer to get to higher levels and would actually force people to do their job stories, which, believe or not, are extremely good guides on how to use your key abilities.

Here's the thing. Players range in skill levels all over the place, and their character level is no indication of that at all. Some people might be good at picking up how to play a job very quickly. Some might never understand with 100 hours of tutorials.

I think this boils down to one simple thing: If you aren't willing to accept random results, don't play with random people. If player performance in a matchmade setting is super important to you, then you need to form your own parties and stop leaving it up to the whims of the duty finder.

I feel you are still missing the point. I know what it means to play with random people and sometimes getting the "lemon". The point I am trying to make is that since the introduction of PotD, the concurrence of this kind of scenario has increased three fold (or more).

I apologize for the confusion.

I am saying that the average player learned their job by doing leveling dungeons. Leveling dungeons take 20 minutes, require no coordination and are complete'able without paying attention.

I've learned jobs fine on PotD. I may not be an expert, but I can hold my own. I've seen plenty of people who go into expert roulette who are incredibly bad, regardless of the fact that they leveled by traditional methods (I know this, because the trend was the same prior to POTD being added).

Someone being a dumb shit isn't really tied to the job said person is playing. If they open up silver chests right after a landmine then that's not because they dropped Enochian or Greased Lightning when they shouldn't.

Fate farming was worse tbh. People just AoE or dot different mobs. In PotD you at least do single target rotation. Not to mention you actually have access to higher level skills which gives you time to get familiar with them. Instead of just using 1 skill in FATEs.
Trash will be trash. No matter where they level up from. Faceroll dungeons, faceroll FATE or faceroll PotD. Someone who opens up a silver chest when they shouldn't will still open a silver chest when they shouldn't even on their main job.

I'm still trying to figure out what someone going AFK on a boss or dying repeatedly has to do with class knowledge.

All classes have to avoid the same AoE's. Knowing your rotation better isn't going to save a bad player from dying to something stupid.

No. It's fine the way it is. You're still going to have idiots no matter what content you're running. And for those complaining about people not knowing their class, 1) the whole system of allowing any class makes this not necessary and 2) this was already happening with people who leveled through fates so it's not much different.
