So I heard this before that new savage dungeons might have a different story and I just tried to think of how.
for me I would think it would be a hint to the next part or a bit more information oh the goings on, how would the rest of you want it?

I imagine the savage mode would be the WHOLE story whereas story mode would just be "we solve problem, day is saved, yay"
It could be like a literal branching path system. Like say we enter an area with two npcs and then the path divides, making it so normal progresses one way and encounters certain mobs and then the other goes a different way. Then on the very last boss, the normal version can fight a weaker version and then the savage mode can fight the "awakened" version or whatever.
Personally, I'd love it if the savage version of fights would say something about the normal version, like "I trust I do not have to hold back like I did with the others?"
Personally I as a non savage raider want savage to have a savage only bonus turn with its own boss and an accompanying story. The story won't be really different, but there would be a filler arc for savage. Imagine the time bubble in alex creator first sending you to a bonus boss before real Alex. This boss would also be pretty hard as it's only balanced towards savage, and a plus one turn would give savage raiders more chance at loot and more tomestones, extending the time each savage raid is relevant for gearing.
I'd think the only way that people wouldn't complain is for it to be an alternate goofy story.
What I think of is something like the Seraphic Gate in Valkyrie Profile Silmeria, with constant 4th-wall breaking and parodies of important plot points.
I found it kind of ironic that they suggested this given that normal mode exists because people complained about not getting the story. How they do this will entirely depend on what the story is (whether we are isolated as a party like alexander, or part of a bigger picture like raubahns push or the dragonsong war)
I don't know...me and, judging by how "well-recieved" (lol) most of the more goofy Alex story was, probably most people tend to like their raid story to be more of the serious, epic type ^^;
Actual answer to the topic: Idk..I just really don't like there being 2 stories in general. I am one of those who strongly complained about the lack of incentives to do savage mode (especially because you can see the story in NM already!), but I was thinking more along the lines of just getting rid of NM altogether..xD I just really can't imagine there being 2 stories that are both meaningful and well-written and not just a way to shoehorn one of the 2 modes into the story that would already be done after one version.
I mean, we already HAVE a "story" to savage, that we are going through the artistically exaggerated version of the bard. Any "you are now fighting the awakened version" would be just a similar blanket statement, so that doesn't really count as it's own story.
You'd have story mode for that. And since sotry mode is required to unlock Savage, every one would automatically see it.
Coming back to Coil then....but too many people complained :(
With a parody story, it would be like goofy endings of Chrono Trigger. challenging, but without any consequence anyway.
People don't raid for story they raid for the challenge and the loot. I am really against locking story behind difficult content.
It would be nicer to get one longer and thought out story that isn't boring until the very last chapter rather than 2 separate mediocre stories honestly, I do like the idea of an extra floor or two for Savage mode though. Nothing major story wise, a defence system activating or something.
I raid for the story (to me the context of the bosses is all part of the story). Fighting long and hard and finding out the final boss of SCOB was Nael was extremely rewarding, and that kinda loses its magic when I see the awesome final boss cutscene on day 1 of the patch.
Removed. :P
I don't get why people want to get rid of NM so bad. You already have the best loot in the game, now you want exclusive story + get rid of the content catered to the vast overwhelming majority of the playerbase?
To all the raiders saying they did coil for story: that's the point, non-raiders also wanted to do coil for story, but couldn't. That's why Alex normal exists, and why they should never lock any story of any note behind raid content. Why do you want story only a tiny fraction of the player base will ever see? Just so you can lord it over them?
The folks I raid with are capable, intelligent players, but very limited in their playtime each week due to family obligations. Capping tomestones on a weekly basis is a pipe dream for most of them, and the amount of time we actually play as a group each week amounts to about three hours. I don't think our situation is a unique one, either; there are many who play this game who grew up playing video games, love playing this game, but just don't have the free time that they used to have. As such, I'm generally against exclusive story rewards in the raids - particularly if the storyline is a crucial part of the game's story, as Coil was, rather than just a side-story, as Alexander was.
The same goes for "partial story" versus "full story", if the difference is more than just meaningless fluff.
Alexander did it right, imo.
I have tried raiding for the story, was in my FC's first T5 clear group, and quit learning T6. I don't like raiding. It's clearly not for everyone, and it's particularly not for everyone who plays this game for the story. The dev team made the right call with Alex normal.
No I am not a fan of this at all. I like the way it currently is. I want to experience the WHOLE story but I do not want to experience Savage mode. I don't have the time for statics and even if I did my time commitment isn't 100% reliable which is why I don't do hardcore Raiding. I still enjoy doing content for the story and for some gear and the Normal Alexander allowed me to do exactly that.
Being as the story of Alex was all about time travel, I feel the best place to execute a different story between normal and savage would have been with it. Savage could have just been an alternate timeline.
Story content should never be gated by content designed and intended for an at times vanishingly small percentage of players, I agree with the poster above me, 'raids' and 'raid-like' content is for the 'challenge' .. of course, most raiders CLAIM they do it for the 'challenge' but many of course do it solely for the phat lewt.
that would be a pretty dumb idea. The whole point of story mode was to no longer 'waste' time creating a story that at best only 10% of the playerbase can see.
If you want to give the savage crowd some story incentive then make it by releasing savage first and then normal later maybe
I hope there's no unique story in Savage.
To me the whole point of normal mode is to be able to see the story without raiding.
Give Savage unique gear, titles, mounts, filler bosses ect but no story please.
Story should be the same, but an extra boss that isn't spoiled until the world first group gets there would be nice.
