I swear if this is true, SE just can't figure out what info to keep hidden and what info to share. The Egi Galmour System was supposed to be started in 3.4 we already had to wait god knows how long for it, like whatbthe hell? I swear if we don't get anything until 4.0 they better have a massive overhaul for us, this is becoming ridiculous. I mean they keep adding "new" content that is just a rehash of old content. I can understand consistency with tomes stones and ex-dungeons and stuff like that but the rehashes they do are getting out of hand if, if this turns out to be true.
Sorry bit of a rant because I can't slep, D:[
Yeah egis are conspicuously absent. But you know, hope dies last. We still have the preliminary patch notes to look forward to.
I realy hope we have it this patch. Its going to be carbuncle this time right?
I dont get why you want glamours instead of new egi's...
It will probably be delayed until the level cap is increased again in 4.0 That or never happen at all.
stayed up to watch the live letter in hopes of some information on this..... comeon se all i wanna use is my carbuncles, not these trash egi's. with them being so quiet on it my guess is its been delayed.

Q: What’s the status on the glamours for summoner’s egis?
A: After assessing the resources needed to make this happen, we discovered that we need an immense amount, so we are planning to release them one patch at a time. We’re working towards implementing them starting from Patch 3.4, so please hang in there a bit longer.
throw us some updated info plz SE :|
You mean glamour for your summon? Why you need to glamour that thing? :O
Yoshi said that since the current EGI fulfill all the pet roles that the Summoner needs, they do not see any need to add the EGI of the remaining Primals. To compensate, they will give the players the option to use a glamour system on their current EGI. So for example you use Shiva-EGI glamour on Garuda-EGI, the EGI will look like a Shiva EGI, but it will do the Garuda attack and skills.
They want to add 1 EGI each patch and they will start with adding Carbuncle.
The conspicuous silence on this, and the possibility of Ishgardian Apartments, both having been previously teased as aimed for 3.4, were the biggest disappointments regarding the update imo.
I could handle them being delayed...I just wish that the devs would give us SOME comment on them.
Because they already said it's not possible cause it would not be well balanced
Because we are summoners with only....3 pets, it's not a real summoner in the FF universe (where you can summon way more than just 3). Plus, we should (lorerly speaking) have been abble to summon Ramuh, Shiva etc but they said that it was not possible due to the class mechanics and so went on the bahamut transe thing (wich is pretty fun imo ^^) so instead they give us glamour so we can have the illusion of being real summoner with a lot of minions.
I don't get why it takes so much time, especially for the carbi, (i can get it for the new ones of course) they have the models and the animations even for a red or a black thanks to Alphinaud oO
Pretty sure prior promises for the Egi system included spell/attack names and visuals. Just the same effects (DPS Egi grants counter-shield, Tank Egi has AoEs, Caster Egi has DoT extension, etc.).
But then, who knows, at this point I wouldn't be surprised if they did only bother implementing a face-swap, if even that.
Which is fine by me. They needn't bother wasting time with all these little things like spell names (which for the most part, only you will see), some probably minimally changed cast animation and particle effects - They can save themselves a lot of time just colouring the spell effects differently and it'd be absolutely fine.
And let's be real, everyone for the most part is going for Carby, which shares the same cast animation for all types (just like how the Egi does), nobody is going to look at or perhaps even notice a spell come out of a Carby (or any new Egi glam) and be disgusted, etc.
They are literally wasting time thinking such things for this glamour system are needed.
Eh, personally, I for one really like the particle effects and other little details that the devs work into the game.
If they were to actually make this system, I'd like for them to do so as well as they can. Which I like to think is how they treat everything that goes into the game, it's just a matter of time and the ease with which something can be integrated or tacked on.
So if this is something that takes them longer to do right, I for one am fine with that; I just wish we knew a little more about where things stand.
Ishgardian housing was said to come after apartments that would come with 3.4.
We get apartments with 3.4, so maybe with 3.5 we get Ishgardian housing.
They have a tendency to NOT give you SOME comment on things because they know people will take these comments and blow them out of proportion.
That's not how it will work, Shiva won't be casting fire based skills, she will be casting ice based skills with ice animations that just do the same thing as the egi that she is glamoured onto. So if you glamoured shiva onto garuda, you would still have contagion, but it would be called something else and would be an ice based animation.
If Carbuncle glamour gets slipped into 3.4, great. If not, I'm quite confused as to why Carbuncle, already existing in-game with animations and its own skillset icons, is still not available. At this point I can only guess they are intentionally withholding Carbuncle as an egi glamour for "reasons." Mind you, I don't even like Carbuncle, but it would be progress/ as way of saying "We haven't forgotten."
The last I recall hearing Yoshi-P acknowledge new actual egis, several live-letters ago, was just presenting the dilemma of them releasing all the new egis at once (I'm assuming Ramuh, Shiva and Leviathan), or staggered as they are ready. I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt and assuming that they decided to hold off until they're all ready.
I will be happy if this was completely discarded. I think is a useless and a totally pointless idea. Not a big loss here and I main SMN too so I'm not bothered in the slightest.
Havnt you seen in Trailer how that Ixal "summoned" Garuda?
Maybe its a preview of how the new egis will look like...
i bet you i know what se will say
"SOON! (tm) "
They don't tell us everything in the trailers, they usually hold back a few surprises. I say keep your expectations low and wait until the patch is out.
I just want my Carby back. :(
Yeah I wonder why they didn't show it...I guess they'll save it for patch notes? I mean come on..first they hype up new pets pre 3.0, saying we will get Shiva, Ramuh and Levi...then at the last second, oh sry lol nope. Then they tell us we will get glamour pets in 3.4...now there is no preview..-_- come on SE be transparent like you were in 1.x days....
Don't buy it. Carby models are already in game with combat animation. It shouldn't take a year plus to add a glamour system with models already in the game.
It's not our fault the role system is so strict. Not getting actual new summons is like saying no new jobs will be introduced because there are already tank, healer, and DPS roles and it would be too hard to balance. Do they get it 100% balanced adding jobs? No, but I am sure most people would not want no new jobs added.
So Summoner is just going to have more self cast spells while summons gets fewer spells and abilities, but they both will be stronger, but hey you can make Garuda look like Shiva or Ramuh!
In future updates, we will add no more jobs because the roles are set and it would be too hard to balance. Now your Paladin can look like Black Mage, Flash is renamed to Fire Flash and looks like Fire 2 but still has the effect of Flash.
The whole point of jobs is Identity is it not? I guess Identity means looks and not actual actions.
I have a 60 summoner, and already dislike the DoT focused meta. I dislike Deathflare, not because it isn't cool, but it makes me feel like a Black mage.
Well, I guess this is how it is going to be and rather than make rant threads or try to rag on something some players want, like this Egi Glamour. I say my opinion this once and just play a different job if it bothers me too much.
Disappointed they didn't follow through on the egi... I'm just hoping jobs are getting a large enough rework 4.0 to justify this.
See, and this is the other headscratcher for me. Unless the devs intended to completely redesign the Ramuh Arbiters (which as it stands, looks egi-esque save for not being as glowy and gummi bear-y as the rest, and I will be 100% surprised if they don't at least reuse the model's shape anyway), I wouldn't think there'd be much left to do. Perhaps I'm over-simplifying the work involved, but I would think they only need to re-design and possibly re-name 3-4 tab icons for the egi skills (heck, Garuda's Shockwave's art entails someone being struck by green lightning, and Contagion just looks like a generic ACN silhouette with a blue glow). Reuse some lightning animation effects (there must be, at this point of the game's life, dozens to choose from), and that's basically a Ramuh egi glamour over Garuda.
That's why the only excuse I can give them is that they are waiting until they can release many at once, because the alternative is a bit mind-boggling, pending what part of the dev team is actually responsible for new egis.
You are. From what they've said it sounds like they want the glamour to be able to perform all three roles. It's not as easy as say Ramuh playing Titan and just using his moves. They don't want to be that lazy.
So for the glamour to actually work they need to develop the ability effects and names to be a proper comparison to all 3 pets within the game currently and not just replace a model over a pet and call it a day.
They could just have Ramuh and you continue to use Titan's names moves but that would just look tacky to see Ramuh but close range using earth based attacks, they want to have the glamour be more in line with the egi you are using.
That just sounds like the devs biting off more they can chew for no reason. I'd make more sense for some primals to be only casters, some to be only tank, some to be only physical. This is exactly why they won't give us cross job glamour, so they'll do that for 1 thing, but not the other for reasons?
Really? I don't recall them saying they want every egi to "do it all." That seemed like wishful thinking that may have come up during speculation.
I've thought about this, and as "cool" as it sounds, I see potential issues with "any egi can be any role" that I'm hoping the devs consider and catch if they're brave/ambitious enough to decide to go down that route.
Potential issue being people other than the SMN have no way of identifying if egi in question is "set" as the tank pet or melee pet. Like, a particularly bad tank might accuse a SMN of having their Titan egi (glamoured-over melee pet) steal hate from it. I don't know if the developers want to create ambiguity as to what type of pet the SMN has out (they flat-out said they don't want glamours confusing players about what job they're playing, so yes, that is a thing). For the sake of simplicity and time, I'm guessing that any new egis would be locked into a predetermined role slot. It's so much easier to see Titan/Shiva egi out and know "he/she is using a tank pet," Garuda/Ramuh and know it's ranged, etc. than leave everyone else guessing.
If the system still limits us to "roles" then the whole thing is a waste. Hopefully its being designed to allow all egis to be glamoured to whatever we want. The whole trinity system for egis is beyond stupid in the first place.
I think they're just going to keep putting it off until people forget about it imo.
I'm eager to hear how they explain away the lack of new egis in 4.0 myself considering we'll be so strong by then the whole "you're not strong enough" argument will be moot.
I would definitely have considered taking a break from the game if Carbuncles were still nonexistent, but they're apparently going to be adding a new healer to the pool of viable choices in 3.4 (Nocturnal Sect Astrologian), so I'll be sticking around to see how that works out.
I'm still hoping that they surprise us next week though.
IIRC, they said there was 2 parts of 3.4, maybe we have only seen part 1
