An RGB picker for a dye would be great - there are so many times I want to dye something red to match something else in-game but it just doesn't match up perfectly.
As far as I've seen, there is no Teal/Aqua and that's a fairly simple color to get by just combining blue and green.
I do feel they need some better color tones for just about all the colors. Something a bit more vivid.
Maybe they cold add a dye creator using the system that is currently used for Chocobo colours. We feed machine each fruit corresponding to RGB and get out of the machine the desired colour.
Would love to see more dyes, yes. I also find it hard to match some glamours because I can't get the colours quite right.
Well...from the player side end, it seems like a simple system: Remove all dyes, Add dyes Blue, Red, Green/Yellow, Black, White and Metallic, add the color picker as preview and then require a matching amount of base pots to get the color and shade.
From the developer side end, it's probably a lot harder. I'd not be surprised if every dye color was its own, unicolor picture file for some strange reason and they had to alter the code entirely to make such a thing work.
I'm down for more options when it comes to colors. One in particular that I would greatly appreciate being added is the ''dark red'' that has been added into the datas since patch 2.5.

Only best reds atm are Rolanberry red and Dalamud red.
I'd just go for more dying options, like being able to dye accent colours etc - Similar to how GW2 does it with 2-4 colors per item.
Then again, I'd also like the have the number of dyes available in GW2, and the freedom to dye unlocked dyes without consumables like GW2
I'd also like to see secondary dying. Like with the Whitemage 50 relic gear, let us dye say the red part separate from having it all turn into a different shade.
What we need is to be able to use more than 1 dye on gear.
It bugs me to no end that they always seem to release gear that uses colors we don't have available in game. If they can't do a full RBG scale, at least give us matching colors.
Yes please! Especially the RGB picker.
No I think we need more important things first, such as more inventory space and QoL fixes.
There are some color ranges where they'll have multiple dyes with colors just barely distinguishable from the others, then there are other color ranges that seem left out entirely. Filling in some of the larger gaps would really help. So would making sure there's a dye that matches the trim colors or default colors on other pieces. (The Lord's Suikan, for example, has red accents that don't match any dye color. I'd wanted to dye some pants to match that shade of red and couldn't.)
Well, this does kind of fall into the category of QoL fixes, though I certainly agree it's nowhere near the importance of inventory space.
Textured dyes - pinstripe, checked, tartan, air brush streak etc.
I wanna be able to dye my skin
If I may ad to your post. YES to the dyes but would also like to see gear to be dyable in different parts ie the chest piece should give an option to dye the whole thing or just, let's say, the top shoulder part. That would give players more of a true customization.
I just want there to be an option to disable material specific coloring (e.g. when you use pure white on cloth on leather, it usually turns out to be pure white, but when you use that same dye on metal, it turns into a bright silver instead of freaking pure white). This has ruined more glamour for me than I care to remember.
"Hmmm, I think Dalamud Red would look nice on thi- aaaaaaand it looks like dark brownish red on this gear. Okay, no problem. I wonder what Honey Yellow lo- aaaaaand its now gold? Welp, guess I just have to go with pure black. Again."
No. We need more dye-able items not more dyes. The items we can dye are very limited.
The amount of grays, browns, yellows, blues and greens seems fine to me, but we need to have more shades of basic colours like orange, pink, cyan, red, violet and purple. It was extremely difficult to find a colour that even remotely matches the light orange AST and WHM weapons from PotD. I would also appreciate more metallic colours, especially an actual red and a non-dirty gold.

Would it be a nice feature? Depends on how it works out.
Are we so sure that dye is represented in game as an RGB value and not, for example, as a bitmap indicating the color to display. I can represent 256 color values using a single byte descriptor for each armor piece. I would need six byte descriptors for suitable RGB value. Multiply that by five for the visible slot choices and I go from five bytes dedicated to armor color to 30 bytes. Multiply that by the number of players you can see on any given day in Limsa Lominsa hanging around the Aetheryte and you're starting to talk some serious memory.
Currently, I can look at what I want and then go out and craft/purchase most of the dye choices. How would I do this given an RGB scale instead of "Dalamud Red"? I think it might become a bit more expensive to craft dyes "on the fly". You choose a sunburnt orange color that combines red and yellow -- you have to now pay for two materials (in some correct relationship) to make the newly minted "sorta-sunburnt-orange" color. Or they might actually eliminate dye choices entirely and have you go to a 'dye wizard' who will do this for a fee similar to what it now costs to have materia melded.
Solvable problems, yes. But I'd vote for an inventory search feature similar to the MarketBoard search first.
They could just let you choose within a dye range with a colour picker when you dye your gear though
yeah i'd like to see a wider range of colours added to the dye system aqua and teal being among them have more vivid colours also for things like tattoo and hair colours but even just dyes added is a plus
I'm all up for more options when it comes to customization!
It cracks me up how "data storage" is so much of an issue in this game and yet not in others. >_<!
Honestly, we shouldn't temper our requests pre-emptively. SE needs to figure their stuff out, and we should feel free to ask them for better systems! Like multiple dye channels on a piece of gear, and a better selection of colors. :)
I need the default color the Thav bustier is in as a dye. I need it T_T
Camo dye would be nice. Or adding a pattern design to the system so glamour can be more unique instead of just colors. Food for thought.
No, I think we need a better dyeing system.
Like dyeing certain segments of gear differently.
edit: Holy hell, corrected some baaaad typos.
Before we need dyes the developers need to make it so we can dye every part of a armour.
I personally would love to see a Turqouise metallic dye :)
