With all the topics popping up lately about people being unhappy with the game, I sincerely believe it's time for SE to do another player poll.
They did this back in 1.0 to determine if the players would be willing to see changes in gameplay in 2.0. The poll was advertised on the lodestone, in game, on the launcher, etc. Since the forums aren't always accurate in terms of the community as a whole, it would be a great way for SE to see if players are happy or not with the current state of the game.

I wouldn't say that the game is in dire need of this as I feel like people have been far happier with the game from 3.2 onwards, but this kind of thing is never bad. Ideally I would want to see this every x.x5 patch, but maybe thats too soon, maybe every other x.x5 patch to cover the gear cycle as a whole.

It rarely hurts to get customer feedback. I suppose it's just a whole lot more effort these days because the playerbase is bigger than during the 1.0 days and that's why they stopped doing them.

In-game surveys have been done for years and can acquire a lot more accurate information than something outside of the game can. I dont think its unreasonable to have a survey after every major patch to gauge how well the content is being received by the general population versus this assumption that if they are silent it automatically means they are happy.Quote:

The player base is too vast now compared to what we had in 1.0. And honestly I would be scared what the outcomes would be from the non ff fans on a poll. We already sorta have yoshi apparently speaking to non ff fans about ideas like level boosts and skipping potions.

It would be nice of them to implement a poll on the new content as well as suggestion box for improvements or things that they would like to see after a month or so after the content is released.

SE won`t do it cause its scared of what it will find out. Probably a lot of work to do and they of course, are very happy with what they have now, so that won`t happen unless the subscriptions begin to sink and bad reviews begin to roll out, sadly is the only way to make developers to work these days.

At this point, if the third dungeon in each patch cycle was sacrificed for the development of "new systems" such as diadem, verminion, and PotD, I'd really like those new systems to be fun, interesting, complete, and fulfilling at launch. Diadem launched last November and died very quickly; the apologists for it tell us that it was just the framework for something amazing that will come out a year later. PotD has similarly been defended with its barebones box-room design (it really is as basic as one can get when it comes to designing random dungeon content) with the promise that it will be amazing when it is patched, whenever that might be. I don't think those arguments excuse underwhelming content being released. And even if they did, we had Nyzul Isle ten years ago, so why exactly is PotD so lackluster?

I feel like some of the direction while not bad, is lacking these days. Things that are extremely important to the NA/EU population Yoshi seems shocked to learn years later despite numerous large threads about it here. I just don't feel like our side of the community is getting through anymore.

I can only see good things comming out the player polls. If SE gets alot of positive feedback, then they know that what they are giving to the players is something good, but if they get alot of negative feedback, then SE knows that something has to change. Feedback is a good thing.

They asked questions like "Would you be willing to see drastic changes in gameplay" and "what jobs would you like to see." It was a few months before 1.0 shut down and they were getting feedback for how to make 2.0. They basically did the poll when they realized 1.0's entire structure wasn't going to work and needed to be bulldozed and rebuilt entirely.
With more and more people seemingly unhappy with the different kinds of content being produced, it may be a good idea for SE to get feedback from a wider base than these forums. -

only if the poll was for all to answer, with a mandatory screen when you log in-game to answer the poll. This to ensure that everybody had a say. If you dont answer you dont access the game. Only this way, SE will get a true vision of the game.
Of course there would be a *dont care* answer possible.
Why ? because that way we wont have the usual long whining list of those that complains they had no say and how unfair it is and the yada.
Seriously, a poll is not necessary, it goes as well from the number of subscriptions/unsub the game gets...may not be perfect but is a good indicator in my opinion -

If they ever do a poll, they should do it in game and make it one poll per account. It should be optional, naturally, but have a way for those who accidentally x'ed out of it or those who currently don't have the time to do it a chance to do it, like in the Support Desk.
