You just have to talk to the guy to enter it. It will match you with random players.
I like the fact that the open world is seeing 'gathering places' again. Sure Duty Finder make life easier but if everything was done that way nobody would have to leave their rooms.
I think more content of this type should be accessed via a NPC. It's a very unique situation because of the save file scenario, I like it personally.
It's just an inconvenience of having to go somewhere to queue for an activity, like with Coil way back when. Putting all those players in an area with an entry point might have some merit if Deep Dungeon were difficult enough to encourage grouping up with those locally in the zone, but it's not.
Unlikely to happen due to the fact it's not a typical duty (the whole "save slots" thing, having to reset progress, etc)
It's unfortunate that they couldn't have found some way to do it anyway though, because causing everyone to arbitrarily swarm one small area in a zone is not usually a good thing for zone stability, lag, performance issues, other new players doing questing/leves in the area, etc.
Its nice to actually venture somewhere else to queue into something. Its fine as is.
It's kind of fun watching the big crowd hanging out in Quarrymill. Took me a bit to understand at first that there was actually an npc there it was buried with bodies. LoL.
Is all honesty, how is opening the teleport menu and selecting Quarryhill all that inconvenient? Different gathering places out in the open world is not a bad thing. I have some good memories of hanging around Wineport/Fallgourd Float/Processing Plant.
There needs to be more of these not just where the current tome vendors are.
Please don't add Palace of the Dead to DF. It brings back a sense of community and makes the world feel less empty/quiet.
Pls dun lazy kthx
As some others have mentioned in this topic, they can't simply put the instance into DF because of the way it works: you have to go in using a specific class, party/solo or progression slot. DF can't just shove you into the queue without letting you choose those unless the devs find a way (which likely will take time)
It's fine how it is. It doesn't need to be in DF.
I mean what are you seriously doing that warrants this? It immediately pops anyway most of the time... like? Are you immediately going to warp away and do something else? What's the point of that. Don't queue if that's what you're going to do.
You mean as opposed to just opening the duty finder menu like every other group activity the game has you do minus treasure maps? And that treasure maps make sense not being in the duty finder because you're actually traveling to different locations? There's no reason to say entering via Quarrymill is a "wrong" decision on the devs' part, but let's not pretend it's not an inconvenience compared to how the rest of the game is set up.
I'm not sure if I'm for or against having it in DF, but that's not a excuse for it not to be. It's all code that the devs have full control over. Codewise, it shouldn't take much to have DF pop up the PotD interface when selecting PotD. But again, I'm not really sitting for or against at the moment. Sometimes I would like the convenience. But from a world immersion standpoint DF kills a bit of immersion.
Why should it be added to the normal duty finder?
So you can avoid locations with lots of people?
For those unaware, not putting the PotD in the duty finder will kill it off extremely early. Chocobo Racing and Verminion suffer from the same problem; having to go to an arbitrary location and wait there to enter the content results in people just not bothering at all. If it's not in the duty finder and you cannot queue from anywhere whilst doing something else then people will stop bothering to queue for it at all.
I agree, adding PotD to the Duty Finder is not necessary : it's good to see a lot of people for content in a specific area (even when a lot are afk x) )
But what I don't understand they've done is not adding any of the cutscenes to the Unending Journey D:
The first time I completed it I was with some friends and because we were talking a bit, I thought I missed some of the dialogues during the final battle so I wanted to check, only to realize they were nowhere to be seen
So I had to use the option to un-skip the cutscene already seen : the only "bad" consequences it had, was that I waste I bit of my team mates time.
No, I like it this way. When I'm questing and traveling the world is so empty and quiet, I feel left behind. But having people gather in an area is nice to see every once in a while.
Probably wont be added till later just like primals.
I say we wait a bit until the next Deep Dungeon is released as it appears that PotD is only the first Deep Dungeon for the Deep Dungeon Series in FF14.
That way things would not be a hassle for having one Deep Dungeon forgotten due to being Old Content.
As of now it is ok to keep it as it is since there is only 1 Deep Dungeon now.
I would love to see what everyone would do without DF or all these teleports we have now. lol
Sit in Limsa/Idyllshire, do player searches and whisper random players if they wanna come along? Also: Shout spam.
That's what we did back in classic WoW. And once we had the group assembled after bothering random people for 30-60 minutes, we went to the dungeon. By foot, because mounts were too expensive at the time. That took between 10 and 40 minutes again, depending on what dungeon you went for and how many of the flight connections you had unlocked already. Also includes such engaging activities as waiting for a ship.
Overall, people ran dungeons a lot less and as a late-comer to a server, it was often more time efficient to simply not bother with dungeons at all. This is actually why the dungeon finder was devised in the first place!
From my understanding, the vast majority of the player base sat in Ul'dah all the time specifically for this reason in 1.0. It was the simplest city to navigate, so it was more or less what Mor Dhona was to 2.0 and Idyllshire is now, but much worse.
I'm really hoping some of these side activities get added to DF.
1.0 had no dungeons until later on in its life span and you had to actually go to each dungeon to enter them. Ul'dah was the focus because the main story took you there and the way the market worked everyone wanted there retainers there. But for almost everything you had to physically go to each place to enter which was a good thing.
I do miss having to go to the dungeon for all these places.
It's a nice touch.
If those people aren't willing to do that content, then that is their prerogative. But it doesn't hinder those who wish to do it either solo, duo, trio or a full party, with how the content was, to be honest, intended to be played. The "DF-like" entry is only there to make up for the fact that it cannot be entered via DF, and to allow those who wish to be in a party but do not have friends/an FC/whatever their situation, a chance to play the content.
While it's nice to see people gathered, I'm for adding Palace to the DF.
With so many people just standing there, I get a lot of lag and it takes a little bit for NPCs (including the one that lets you enter Palace) to load.
That or they could close off Quarrymill like they did with Idyllshire... >w>
For some people with weaker machines/connections, yes, that is a valid concern.Quote:

This... is not really why the content died off quickly. Same goes for Diadem.Quote:

Sure, it was still a pain in the butt to have to do that, but that wasn't the primary reason.
No dungeons, but Leves. And Thanalan had the best lv40+ Leves ("Dunesfolk for Dinner" in Camp Broken Water, as an example). And Thanalan Leves you only got from the Ul'dah adventurer guild.
Abandon the PS3 or get a SSD ^^
There is not even 10% of the players during the first half year of the game in that zone.
No, Plz don't add this to the DF and carter to the Lazy again.. For the 1st time in maybe years people are actually socializing in the open world again. Idyllshire is actually empty, People running around doing random stuff together again & even with some the 1st time players, LFG in the Chatbox!? What magic did you pull to make this happen SE lol. And sure the DF made things convenient, but that Convenience effectively killed this aspect of MMOs, made people lazy and that sense of adventure was just gone. Why go over to said location and possibly have some fun while doing it when you can just que up on the spot right? Please don't add this, it really does make me happy to see this social aspect come back again.
Nah. Takes some of the coolness out of it. As an alternative though, just do like they did with materia melders and put a DD host in each big city, so at least you won't have to deal with crowd lag (at least on my PS4 it does).Quote:

Only issue I have with it are all the people standing on the guy who let's you enter it and blocking others from clicking him.
