Ideas for a new expansion

What if a new expansion makes us swim in the deep ocean ? :D

It can happen in a different continent, like for example in the New World recently discovered, people wants us to investigate this new land. Then Cid creates a submarine because of the rumors that an ancient city had sunken in the sea. We find out that there is indeed a civilization living there (also, perfect way to introduce a new race, lore-wise :) )
We decide to ask Matoya if she can give us a potion that makes us breath under water (like in the first Final Fantasy, it was a gel if I remember well)
And here we have a new city-state, a new race, beautiful sub-marine exploration :D

As for the jobs : Pirate or Viking, Geomancer, Blue mage ?

New Primals :
-Syldra (FFV)
-Siren (FFVI/FFVIII)
-Anima (FFX) (since we have to swim in a temple to get her, yes I know, weird idea)
-Mateus (FFXII)
-Famfrit (FFXII)

So, would you like to see sub-aquatic explorations in a future expansion ? :)

Oh, and add Blitzball (FFX) to that new expansion too!!

Good call, but I picture it more like we finally have some good intel and a good chance to strike down The Horde, so we all set sail, but half way out into the sea our ship is sunk by a bunch of Naga. Then we can get that potion you speak about and an underwater sea horse mount. Sounds fun!

I should probably add, there is already an existing civilisation and city under the sea as that is were the majority of the Sahagin live. Though I wouldn't see them as being playable, I would be up for learning more about Sahagin culture, social structure and actually seeing what a Sahagin city looks like.

However I think its safe to say we most likely will be exploring something pre-existing in lore for the time being rather than going off left field.

But the ocean content most likely already exists in lore. They wanted to know before if players wanted to take to the skies or the sea for the 3.0 expansion. Sky won. So we got Heavensward. It could have easily gone the other way. SE has most of the content planned long ahead of time. So the ocean expansion is probably already written up and developed on.

Seriously ? If it's true I will be so happy :D

What I'd love to see is better dungeons come out of it. We have this whole entire sky expansion pack, and little to do with flight in any of the dungeons (unless hitting a launch pad to fling you to another floating platform satisfies you completely).

I'd love a water dungeon (all games gotta have them right?) where you do much of your fighting on foot, but maybe activate switches that fill the room/chamber with water and you swim to get to the other rooms. I imagine the current flight controls we have for Heavensward wouldn't be all that different from swim controls.

It's the song played in the water temple (the Sunken Shrine) in FFI (it's called Chaos Temple because it's also played inside the first dungeon)

Siren is already in the game as the final boss of Pharos Sirius NM, so that kind of won't be happening (the same reason why Diabolos and Fenrir won't be summons either as they too are just bosses fought). You also see it earlier during the main scenario at the Ship Graveyard on the Isles of Umbra where it keeps sending undead to attack you (a loose reference Siren's appearance in FFV.). So yeah I don't see Siren appearing as a Primal for this reason.

Anima in FFXIV is actually a term used to describe a certain form of aetheric energy/manipulation and not a Primal - it was originally the 'currency' for teleporting in version 1.0, but has been replaced by paying in gil. In this case, anima is the body's tolerance to teleporting, using up all your anima means you cannot physically teleport anymore. And now it's connected to the new anima weapons quest so that seems to be the final nail in the coffin of ever seeing an actual Primal named it - it would just confuse players too much.

Famfrit was meant to be a loose reference to the Cloud of Darkness from FFIII in FFXII and, since she is already in FFXIV, it makes Famfrit kind of redundant.

Either way, the general consensus is that the next expansion would probably be going eastwards and will feature the last remaining unexplored regions of Eorzea, namely Gyr Arbania and Xephlatol, where the city of Ala Mhigo is, as a possible prelude to sometime in the future heading across to Ilsabard and Othard and ultimately Garlemald itself. Although there has been mention of swimming stated in the past, nothing is known for certain, and is not really a feature I'm too keen on seeing. But then my opinions are usually not popular so I think I'll shut up now. :p

I think will be unprovable having Syldra (It is a CE mount for Stormblood), Siren (It is a race) and Anima (it is a little fairy like spirit). Otherwise, Mateus and Famfrit sounds good.

I was talking more about the swiming and the under water city ahah

We already have beaten Siren. And Syldra is.... not really a summon, I mean, it is in FFV, but more like its Spirit. Plus it will be the SB CE mount.

Will Sirens be normal enemies or new beastmen?

We have beaten one Siren. They got killed in the Rhotano Sea, but on the new world map is still the Sirensong Sea south of Thavnair.

Doesn't stop the siren beasttribe from summon a stronger version of Siren. This might happen in 5.0 if we go to Thavnair since sirens are from around Thavnair. 5.0 is supposed to be about going into Garlean areas but stormblood showed us that we might visit other places at the same time.

I'm pretty sure that what we beat was *A* siren, not *THE* Siren. Though it's also possible that it was indeed the true Siren, in which case it's perfectly possible for her to return for later content much like Diabolos and Ferdiad did.

On the topic of underwater dungeons from earlier in the thread...maybe we'll get a Quarn HardER mode in the expansion? I can't be the only one who read 'Sunken Temple' and got all excited, only to be viciously let down when it wasn't a gorgeous underwater dungeon.

It's not, I don't think Siren is a void creature. All creature coming from the void never die but are just sent back weakened to the 13th dimension. Though I'm not sure of Diabolo's state with the use of that rod.

I think it'd make sense to see some of the ARR beast tribes grow their territories. Like the Kobolds (?) They dig and dig and dig right? But for however much they dig their territory is a bit underwhelming to eye through (most beast tribe stronghold areas are)

Maybe after some kind of world event in the story they could go back and make changes to the strongholds to show an expansion of sorts. They've shown that they can edit ARR locations because they are adding swimming to certainty ones

But just because we beat her, it doesn't mean she's dead. And that's assuming she was a flesh-and-blood creatures, and not a Primal, I which case there's nothing stopping whoever summoned her from summoning her again just like literally every other primal we've ever faced.

And if she wasn't a Primal, she still wouldn't be the first boss to limp off after a licking from us, only to show up later in the story.

Captain Madison has that honor, and there's also Edda, Nero, several members of the Heaven's Ward, and teeeechnically Thancred.

Captain Madison do was dead and had his body exposed to Leviathan's aether which resurrected him in this weird japanese hentai form.
Edda got resurrected by dark magic in the dephts of PotD.
Nero never died at some point. He just ran away in the Praetorium.

I just checked my Encyclopaedia Eorzea and Siren is classified as a Bloodborn Spoken monster, so not a primal neither a Voidsent. The Pharos will likely just be rebuild by the Maelstrom and if Siren's corpse there is, they will probably just dispose of it. And she do is dead 'cause the after quest dialogue is talking about the avenge of the first boss' sister.
Where I can give you a point is that the Encyclopaedia use Sirens with a S as if there are many, though mostly considered as legend stuff.

Of course, there's also the possibility that a different Siren might show up at a later date, or even an entire beast tribe of them with a Primal of their own. Given that we're heading into an expansion with a watery theme, the latter seems highly likely.

About the Siren discussion: It's fairly clear that the Siren in Pharos is only one Siren, and they're not very common in Eorzea.

You actually run into a second Siren at the end of the Bard HW storyline, one that was sealed away by the Moogles of the now deserted Sea of Clouds colony. (It's stated/implied that she killed most of the Moogles there before being sealed in one of those mysterious egg-shaped rocks with runes on it, and then she tries to kill you and your fellow Bards after your group accidentally frees her hundreds of years later.)

She was pretty much identical to the first Siren in Pharos Sirius, so it's likely there's a whole beast tribe of them out there somewhere.
