...without greedy players and scalpers grabbing them all first?
Housing used to be that; a place for Free Companies to gather together. Now, there's even more features added to it for the Free Companies, but it's gotten nigh impossible for a Free Company to get a house anymore.
We had FC housing. That was perfectly fine. People got greedy for more and asked for personal housing; SE got eager and rushed a way to give them what they want. But that came at a HUGE expense.
Give Free Companies a chance already...
So, when can FCs actually have their chance at housing...

It doesn't matter if you're in a FC, you need activity requirements (E.G 10 people login daily) otherwise people will just make personal FCs and buy them up just the same.

10 people logging in a day isn't reasonable either. My FC has 3 people and we do play daily but we are planning on keeping is small and very friendly so with your way we wouldn't be allowed a FC house either. really keeping personal houses in sub wards and FC in main wards would help accomplish the task to an extent but the housing system has major flaws. One all servers get the same amount of wards/plots no matter their population. people can make alts to buy houses, houses should be 1 per account and houses should be owned by main and alt characters. this would make flipping harder so the people wanting to flip would need to pay for subscriptions on multiple accounts. make it so the wards grow with the servers. if all houses are bought create a new ward. people cant flip if they have no base of business. if a ward gets too empty there should be a way to consolidate the wards.
honestly think there should be a better way to deal with the wards themselves -

Why gives FCs a limitation like 10 people logging in daily when a single person can have a house without limitations?
That's just furthering the issue where FCs SHOULD be given preferential treatment, because they're the ones who actually benefit to having a house in a major way, not to mention it gives a house to a group of people instead of just one.
That, and housing for Free Companies was what the wards were there for in the first place. -

Frankly, Workshops should be accessible without a house and their presence within an FC estate instead made to be a mere commodity and convenience to be had with owning a home, not unlike airship travel, only with no restrictions.

I voiced a complaint about airships being restricted to housing when Diadem was announced with no houses for my FC to buy being available preventing my FC from doing the hard mode together. The "solutions" I got were to quit and join another FC or to join pickup groups instead, neither of which allowed my FC to do an FC activity.Quote:

Me and my GF recently started up a FC with some great friends, we started the FC with the understanding we were all equals. Needless to say me and her paid for 95% of the house and of course we're kicked... So we started working toward another house and saved up enough for a large house for our new FC. I was 200 in que the moment servers went live and upon entering the game I get an error and then put behind a line of 2.5k other people waiting to get in.. Of course we're still homeless.. We never stood a chance of getting a house today.

I'm really sorry for your FC. I also think that FCs should own the main ward, and that FCs should be a priority. But there are players that aren't satisfied with a tiny room. Some of us really like customizing stuff and aren't that much social. There are people that want some customizable space for RP purposes and things like that. The system is broken, yes. But acting like the personal housing system is a mistake and greedy isn't cool.

That's not to say the system wasn't already flawed even before personal housing was introduced; people could already make FCs on all of their characters to get several houses. Their biggest mistake was to expand on a flawed system without fixing it first, thus making the problems worse and creating more issues. -

I get it that they are bitter and angry over not getting the house they wanted but stop taking it out on legitimate owners of personal houses which wish to invest both time and gil into making it an actual home. Especially given they often share it with their loved ones or friends within the limit of how many SE allows on personal ones. It took years for me to finally get my own small house which I only just got this month but in all those years I never insulted legitimate house owners who are not out to scam or rip people off, ones who actually make use of their home and make it a nice home for them and/or their loved ones regardless of whether FC or personal. The solution is not to raise the prices again. The real fault here is that Square Enix is not being able to add enough housing for every subscriber who wants a house to get one. There should be no such restriction.
It's a real shame that paying subscribers are not allowed to buy houses anymore on most of the servers. It baffles me that they couldn't know how high the demand was. I seriously think those 3 new wards would be enough. And now it will be another year for more housing to be added. This is a real game-breaker. Housing is not just cosmetics. I want a house for my FC. -

the neighbourhood/ward system itself is a large part of the "limitations" we have now. IMO the price of empty neighborhoods (for 99% of the time) is too high to pay.
too many fc AND solo players can still not purchase a home, they should have opted for instanced to ensure the maximum amount of homes in demand would be met.
And if not instanced then at least implementing a proper resell option from day 1 would have helped.
1) homes can only be sold back to a "real estate" npc for 100% the original purchase price, would eliminate most of the flippers.
2) resold homes would NOT become available to the public until a random amount of days (different for every resell) has elapsed to ensure people would not be able to plan a resale for ridiculous profit.
side note: need far more focus on the artistic fun of housing and actual player creativity and gain a huge amount of control of what we build.
