Please allow us to add Primal Weapons to the Armoire.

Hello,

A simple request really, myself and many others enjoy collecting things and I think Primal weapons should be able to be stored in the armoire. I wouldn't purchase an extra retainer just to store them there, so SE wouldn't be losing money or anything. It would just be a quality of life feature.

Edit: obviously I would like more to be added, Primal weapons was just a start and example since there's a lot of them.

But then how can they make you pay for more retainers?

There will always be issue with storage, its also unrealistic to just add primal weapons. If anything they should try making some furniture that you can store things in, a few mmos do this already...

Mannequin to store a single full gear set
Drawers/Wardrobes to store accessories and gear, 5 or so spaces
Racks to store weapons, also 5 or so spaces

Lets people store those glamors they want to save
Adds a bit more importance to housing, which comes and goes at times
And doesnt really diminish those away from buying retainers still, people will still be hasty, quick from a retain rather than taking the time to tp to house and such

Housing mannequins to show off gear sets from Alex, Coil etc etc could be a fantastic addition to the housing areas tbh, and would go some way to ease the space issue although I'm unsure if it would be easy or hard on current housing decoration resources

they should just implement an archive system and be done with it... we all know why they wont give us more storage is because at some point people will be able to hire 40 retainers lol

It doesn't matter if you call it a chest, wardrobe or mannequin it still requires server space to store that stuff and apparently the servers are at breaking point as it is. When I swap stuff from my character to my inventory one by one most of the time I get an error and Moogle is not even a 'full' server.

The wardrobe actually requires only a fraction of the space that other kinds of inventory do. This is because the wardrobe ONLY keeps track of the type of item. Modifications to the item, such as dyes, glamours, and wear-and-tear, are not recorded (this is why you are warned when storing the item that such things will be lost, and that the item needs to be repaired to 100% before it is stored). Because it only stores the type of item, the item's identification number is the only thing that needs to be tracked. Also, since the wardrobe can only be accessed in very specific areas, like the inn, it doesn't have to be loaded from the server every time you change zones.

Adding additional items to the wardrobe is probably the most low-impact way SE can increase our inventory.

THAT SAID, the wardrobe is intended for a VERY specific purpose: allowing the user to store items that they can't obtain a second time. While it is true that many items in the wardrobe can now be obtained from the Calamity Salavager, back when they were first added to the wardrobe this was not the case. If you threw away your artifact armor, it was gone FOREVER. If you threw away your horse kabuto, it was gone FOREVER. This made players want to horde these one-shot items, eating up precious inventory space. To ease this, the low-impact wardrobe was added so that players wouldn't feel pressured to hang onto them.

Primal Weapons, on the other hand, are NOT one-shot items. It may take some grinding to get the one you want, but if you throw it away, you can always grind again to get a new one. For this reason, I doubt primal weapons will ever be added to the wardrobe. The same goes for other items players worked hard for, like High Allagan gear. They may be hard to replace, but they're not IMPOSSIBLE to replace, like artifact gear and the event items used to be (and, in some cases, still are).

I just want to be able to put the augmented AF sets in there, for the love of rngesus they've been out since 2.3.

We can put the AF sets in there, we can put dyeable items in there, so why the h- moogle can't we put the augmented AF sets in the armoire already?

Square Enix should allow us to store one copy of every single piece of gear we have ever obtained in the Armoire, they can do it with incredible ease, but only for green, blue and purple gear with fixed stats, that would solve countless space and ordering issues!...

I'm sure they would find out other ways to get more money if that was to decrease the number of hired retainers!... :cool:

No they couldn't do it with incredible ease. It would still require vast amounts of storage space.

What they should do is look into adding a glamor wardrobe feature. Even WoW is adding one in the coming expansion - and they will automatically add old quest items.

As said in the thread, I'm not going to purchase an extra retainer for the sake of weapons. SE are not going to bleed money by letting us store some extra items.

Primal weapons was a start, since there's a lot of them. Sure, we can redo the trial and get them again, but as I stated, it's a quality of life feature. We all know this would benefit us. I could make countless suggestions but all I'm really asking for is some extra inventory space without crying at the fact they charge for retainers.

What makes primal weapons so special compared to any other weapon?

Of course they can do it easily, the Armoire works as a table that tells the game what gear is owned, it uses no storage space at all!... :p

I'd rather they allow us to put away esoteric armor into the armoire rather than the primal weapons.

I agree, any armor specific to one class/job should be able to go into the armoire. Crafter/gatherer artifact gear, adventuring class artifact gear, any of the augmented artifact gear, etc. It just ends up taking up too much space for most people. I don't really multi-class but those who do (since the game is totally designed for that) usually wind up having to sacrifice a ton of armory chest space just to keep classes equally geared.

why not? :P almost every single mmo around have some sort of archive system where you can throw the rare armours/weapons/pets/mounts in there and take out whenever you want... the excuses SE use for not giving us more storage space is kinda funny lol

Considering we have small inventories, small armory chests, and a limited selection of items that can go into the armoire, it does make sense. I mean people understand that our retainer's data is stored on another server right? Any time you access your retainer you're accessing a piece of a server made specifically to store items for people. That's why they take a second or two to load up. The bulk of our excess storage, the retainer system, has to be on different servers from those we play on. I'd say that makes it pretty obvious that the servers that we do play on can't really support a whole lot of inventory if their first way to "fix" it is to create item storage on a separate server.

Compared to other games we dont have small inventories.

We have 100 spaces in our 'backpack'
Each armory slot has 25 spaces.
We have 2 x retainers with 200(?) slots each.

The issue I think is due to the one character with all classes system that means it's not possible to have enough space for one set for each class/job.

whats gonna happen when we have 6-7 new jobs?? wont be able to keep all weapons n gear handy to quickly switch to whatever job we want.. inventory/storage is a big issue in FF14 and just giving us retainers we have to pay for isnt a decent solution at all imo.. yeha i pay for a couple only because i leveled crafters had no choice to bite the bullet... wasnt gonna go spend 4 hours collecting mats everytime i wanted to grind crafters to 50

I agree with that. I suppose the size is relative; I've never had any issues with inventory space since I only play SCH/WVR, but I know a lot of my friends who are more along the lines of a jack of all trades, they are constantly in the position of "Oh let me grab my gear for this class from my retainer before we go," kind of rut. Which to me, idk, if you're going to let people have every class at once you'll definitely need an inventory that can at least hold 1 set of gear per class at all times.

I wasn't saying retainers were a good solution, I was just saying SE obviously has some kind of issue with server space when their first reaction was to create a system that holds player items outside of the server they play on. I agree that given the amount of gear we can have and use (since we can have every class) at any given time is extremely high, especially during a patch cycle where artifact gear is relevant, that the armory chest should, at the bare bones minimum, be able to hold 1 complete set of gear for every class in the game at all times. I think the quickest first step to fix that would be for SE to take all gear that is limited to single jobs/classes and let that go into the armoire so that this massive collection of iconic gear can still be saved as a milestone but isn't so burdensome that it takes up the majority of your player or retainer inventories.

inventory/storage should be high priority tho.. they keep addin tons of new gears for each class without giving us more storage options.. dont know what it is but got an email from ff11 about a second mog wardrobe thingie.. sounds to me like just what people want... if they can do that on a game so old but cant do it in ff14? wouldnt mind even missin a update patch aslong as it was purely focused on fixing the inventory/storage problems majoirty of players have

Augmented AF sets are easily replaceable, and therefore will likely never end up in the Wardrobe. Unless you frequently use them for glamours, just throw them away, and if you ever need one again, just buy the base AF armor from a Calamity Salvager and upgrade it again with a new Augmenting item.

That is likely SE's stance on the matter, anyway. The wardrobe is only for items that are either irreplaceable, or were once irreplaceable but became replaceable at some point after they became storable in the wardrobe.

As for folks arguing that a universal wardrobe should be allowed for the purposes of glamour - I don't totally disagree, but "universal" might be taking it a bit too far. Even as efficient as the wardrobe is in terms of storage, what you're asking for is a hash table for EVERY equipment item in the game, multiplied by EVERY player in the game. That adds up! That said, the current glamour system leaves an awful lot to be desired. I barely dabble in Glamour, and even I have three pages of a retainer filled with glamour armor pieces. Allowing a user a wardrobe-like storage for a hundred or so items of the user's choice shouldn't be out of the question.

Well actually currently you can.

There are only 24 classes/jobs. There are 25 armory chest slots

Until the next expansion, it's perfectly possible to hold enough for each class

Huh? It's quite possible to have one set for each class/job currently though. It's a tight squeeze but it fits. The only slots I've had trouble with having too many items in is weapons (because there's only 2 spare slots, of course) and rings. Rings was only a problem while I had things going on like one tank at 60, one tank at 55, and one tank at 50 so I had 3 sets of tank accessories. Once you get everything to 60, the only slot that's realistically problematic is weapons and that's just if you pick up drops or have alternate sets for one class, which there's no real need to do.

I don't know if they ever will add storage space in our houses and rooms like that because like others said server space is at a cap point, and then having gear and weapons on display through mannequins or weapon racks reminds too many people of XI(rest it's soul). Amassing the mannequin parts in XI was also quite the chore if login points weren't up at the time, you had to hope that they would wash up as flotsam in your mog garden or you get lucky with them from other places. I would like if we could store items and gear in furniture like drawers and the like but it was heavy on the server load back in XI, doing it here would likely make the game crash for some reason, telling us why SE is so hesitant to make more inventory space a possibility besides paying for retainers, but back then, you had to pay for the Mog Satchel and Locker so retainers are just the more accessible second coming of those is all.
