Something needed to be done about interruptions so I'm happy they are trying something already.
Is Nocturnal Sect getting the Clerics Stance treatment, or are they really giving Astrologian an on-demand Surecast?
It seems like a very dangerous change on paper, it'll make good and great healers even better. It'll be interesting to see how it plays out though.
It is scary to think what good healers are going to do with this massive buff. They balanced around people new to PvP like I feared. None of the good healers asked for this. They've been used to it since WD and honestly it was balanced for how much healing could be output.
It's kind of bad. Especially because of the reason given for the change. The fact that they are balancing PVP around new players is just bad and does not bode well for the future of PVP.
As a healer, I can say my life is now going to be a cakewalk in Solo Q. I can see SCH being slightly more viable, with WHM power going up the most out of the 3 healers(Edit: WHICH IS RIDICULOUS BECAUSE THEY WERE ALREADY THE BEST). This change barely touches AST, though it will let them use Blizz 2 more effectively. Well, all healers will be able to CC more effectively.
As to whether or not HEALERS will be wearing full vit (Because BLM most certainly will) remains to be seen. I'd have to test it. With too much vit, it might be possible to just not have enough healing to heal through the insane burst that is alive in The Feast.
I'm a scrubby PvP healer only good in raidcontent and semi sucky in PvP and I was happy the way it is... sometimes you lose sometimes you win...
- "Plz Tank, CC the enemy healer so we can kill one of them!"
- "I'm a DRK..."
- "Oh, sorry. I'm so sorry. Okay just... keep doing what you're doing. You're great bud'."
*DRK goes in a corner to cry.*
Something needed to be done because blm was a total waste of fking space before since 95% of the player base didn't know how to play it effectively. Since they can't increase the players skill levels they did the only thing they could do really and made the job more noon friendly. I don't mind the spell interruption on sch and whm too (especially sch which desperately needs something even though I don't think this on its own will make put it back in line with whm and ast) but this change just made ast go from being a challenge to kill (but still killable) in the hands of skilled players to pretty much immortal with the "sure cast on demand" as ppl are calling it now.
BLM will be the new SMN with this change, mark my words.
People cry BLM is horrible in PvP, but I am here to say that a BLM who played properly even as things are now was able to keep up with a melee DPS in damage, as well as get CC's off.
Source: Was on a BLM for an entire 4 minute match, BLM still did 72k dmg to Monk's 75k. His own melee DPS was even lower iirc.
Sweet! I might actually switch to BLK from WAR again, and this wil bring more healers/casters to the Den! I welcome the changes.
I don't like the idea of delegating brd and mch to a poor mans Blm if they don't even have the capacity to harass casters anymore.
Don't be a Debbie ;D
All honesty, I thought it was ridiculous I could just shut a caster down buy building procs on MCH while waiting for my burst to refresh, and we still have Feint, and that is the go to caster shut down anyway, on GCD even with GB up.
I'm actually a little concerned that these changes make Scholar relatively worse, even if it's more playable - making it more difficult to pressure healers will push combat time upwards, but Scholar still won't come close to matching WHM for cast / mana efficiency over the whole match, and Astrologian offers a better version of their toolkit straight up.
Are we playing different game modes? Last time I checked Feast is pretty competitive, and all this change will do will make actual casters more competitive, and force non-casters to readjust their strat to handle the change. I think the meaning of "competitive" is realy being misinterpreted, and all this confirmation bias "this is a bad change, mmm-K" before it has even been implemented is hilarious in itself.
A caster, and that's if they spec right side full vit, has what? Just shy of 12k hp in i150 sync? So the argument here is that attacks <1800 damage wont interrupt a cast is terribad. Now go back through every match you can recall where you actually try to do damage and that attack does less than 1500 damage. See the silliness now?
Full vit (including Fending, optionally including 47 bonus points) brings you to just under 13k, for a damage loss of about 15%. There's other good reasons to do this, outside of the increased casting threshold, and this just makes it a safer/better option for the classes.
This is the worry I have really. It was kinda of a brd/mch niche being able to easily harass casters and mostly keep them shut down that way. I think they should look into buffing the silence effect like giving it a longer duration or maybe some kind of lingering effect that lowers the damage threshold for cast interrupting. If that kind of effect is too much in the hands of pld and nin then they could always just tack it on to blunt arrow and head graze directly. I wouldn't mind a shift away from "keep caster/healer shut down the entire match" to "shut down the healer/caster at key points".
Yeah boiiiii, anyone wanna keep talking smack now? This change will make average Mages competent, and really good ones are now gonna be broken OP. Sucks there is no way to buff BLM without making it OP
Everyone is crying cause they can't spam 2 buttons and deal with a BLM now, it's gonna take skill to shut them down.

Derail Success! Target Thread moves further and further away from the point.
I think we might be, because The Feast is about as far from competitive as it can get. I'd put it on the same level as Mario Kart, or Super Smash Bros coin mode with all items turned on and final smash. You ever seen a SSB tournament where they fight with all items turned on in coin mode? No, because it's not competitive.
Back to the topic of the thread though, this change shows the Dev's do not care about the competitiveness of their game mode, as their reasoning behind the change was "new healers suck so we need to help them."
