What incentive do you need to stay?

We all know the struggles of the Party finder. Hate, rage and impatience are just a few phases before a small chance of luck and happiness.
Now imagine you are not even joining that PF for yourself but for a friend.
If things go wrong and they will... Do you suck it up?
Do you speak up when someone is "doing it wrong"? If so, when and how do you approach them?
Maybe you have a mental illness and just want to finish what you started?
Great! If you answered yes to all of the above, I want to know WHY.

I am looking to start a linkshell for people who have done their homework can count on the fact that others from this linkshell have at least done the same before attempting the fight. They will then be supported by experienced players in order to eventually secure a win.

The idea is not only to train new players, but make sure MORE people get into raiding and make it more accessible. This sounds like a lot of peace and love in a world called Eutopia though. I realise this might will not always work without the right incentive for these seasoned adventurers. This could be combined with some sort of point system and additional rewards next to what the game offers...
For this reason I'm looking for tips to motivate and recruite experienced people to teach and lead new-comers to victory.

tl;dr Do you help new players progress through coil/EX/Gordias and if yes why?
What is your incentive or what would you like to get in return?
Nostalgia?
Loot for glamour?
New friends?
Bonus?
Just for fun?
Gil?

Talking about PF only:

If its for a friend i ll stay until he gets his loot or whatever.

If its for myself i ll stay if i sense that i still have something to learn or if i feel like we can do it. But not too long usually.

But if i dont have any particular expectation i ll just leave after the second wipe. Too much things to do.

Thx, it is a known issue yeah. There is just so much to do that people get opportunistic real fast and think their fortune lies with the next PF or other duties.

Aynway, you said after a second wipe... What if you wiped because of a minor issue? Not because of a massive shitstorm?
If you saw progress, or most of the fight went smooth, would you then try again as long as you believe you might beat it?

Like I said we would expect people to know the fight from guides/solo training. So with the right people supporting that I believe it's only a matter of time to clear...
(Not ALL content obviously but most of it is designed in a way to clear it as long as you know mechanics and beat dps checks...)

As still leveling new player, in a 45man guild, I totally support this! Reading Guides for endgame is always basic before attempting, but having people take you with you and understand when you mess up on first try's, would be great. Again: I say: help and possibly guide you. NOT carry me.

The 2 wipes rule tend to apply more for parties who dont commit, dont even say "hi", dps refusing to pop food/pots when dps is blatantly the issue, dont want to use macros if needed (hi ramuh) / not stacking on waymarks for reasons, or full of ppl who dont want to speak english even though this is an english PF etc.

Attitude is everything in PF. I dont have much time to play FF sadly so sometimes i tend to judge the group ( or myself) fast so i can move to something else.

Here's the way I look at it, personally: I'm here to play a game and I'm playing the game to enjoy myself. When I am confronted with a situation that could potentially upset my play I have 1 of 2 possible options: 1.) React viscerally with hate and angst and totally ruin my fun over something on a screen or 2.) Remember it's just a game and I should just let it slide off my back so I can move on and continue having fun somewhere else in the game.

I try to avoid the drama as much as I can (probably why I'm not an end-game raider at this point) and do my best not to put myself into situations where I'm going to get overly frustrated. I also never take the attitude when I'm in group content that the run is all about me. Between these two things I tend to stay fairly level through it all and the only thing that ever keeps me from playing is my own decision not to do so.

Ultimately we will have to be selective and recruit only people that have the same positive mentality (new or old players). This will help keep the community healthy and always filled with ex-newcomers now willing to help in return.

Not a problem, happy to put my thoughts forward on it and hope more people come around to thinking this way. Sadly I'm on Lamia, so I'm not going to be able to be a part of this LS, but good luck with the effort!

Usually whether its a friend or someone that I don't know all that well, I try and give them the help they need, although I do hate when someone does not come up front and say they don't know, nothing wrong with that, its just you can't help someone who doesn't atleast speak up.

I'll always suck it up if its with a friend, even if I have to waste a ton of time to finish or even if it doesn't get finished, i'll usually put up with a lot on random's, they really have to be giving no effort, or if they start bad mouthing, then I have no problem leaving them.

I like anyone else will lash out and call someone on how they play, not so much about skill, but things like, watching a BLM use nothing but blizzard and thunder, and obviously can tell that its A. A bot, or B. They want to be carried/Lazy/Multi tasking to many things. FYI: In a lvl 60 dungeon. This is a rare occasion, otherwise I just complain about it later on to vent.

When I join a pf group for anything, I'm prepared to stay for the maximum duration of the instance no matter how badly it goes (I can spend the whole 90 minutes wiping in phase 1 if that happens). It helps that I never join party finder groups for any content I actually need but instead only to help. I consider joining the party finder as offering my help for the group to progress as much as they can during the time while I'll do my best to help them. I do this because I love helping people who are doing their best to clear content and progress in their goals.

A while ago I joined a great A1S group with no previous experience required, we had a good time, everyone had a good attitude, we got to enrage with both Opressors above 20% on first pull, made constant progress and then cleared the fight with only a couple of minutes left, me being the only person having cleared the fight before. I've also had nice Thordan ex groups that have been happy to see the mechanics and try the fight and that have been lucky to get to the meteor phase.

The worst thing in these groups is when there's no previous experience required, and then someone joins and quits after two wipes in the first phase, or starts complaining about low DPS in a group that's not really even trying to actually clear the fight but only practice the first couple of phases. Sometimes people even leave groups that have a good chance of beating the fight just because things aren't going perfectly right from the start, even though the group is making steady progress.

The only thing that makes me leave a group before the timer ends is people in the group being extremely rude or offensive and the group leader and other members allowing that to happen. I don't think I've ever done that though.

Wow I feel like with the right people, just a balanced and prepared group of individuals interested of progressing could be enough to make this work!
Now to find more people like you guys......
Do you think people would server transfer for a thing like this? I could post in all the EU datacenter worlds... :-)

I'd love to be able to roll up a toon on the server my friends play on {Balmung} but since the server is so infested with bots and autologgers that its literally closed seconds after ALL Servers were down at 2 AM pacific time, maybe Square should actually do something about that huh?

Everyone should make a character on Cerberus! I'm more than willing to boost people through low Lvl fates on my 38 lancer :D

Although 'waste of time' is subjective.

Not gonna swap servers for a linkshell, but primarily I'll stick around if people have SOME plan of what to change, or if there's notable improvement each wipe. The only times I get fed up are if, say, folks keep wiping to DPS check mechanics and nobody's stepping up with any way we can push past it, or a given attack is wiping half the raid and nobody knows what to do.

I usually only join a PF group when someone asks me to. I don't really open the PF and go looking for groups really. Mostly it's because we do the more challenging stuff with the FC on set days.

However, when I do join a PF group, I usually stick around even after wipe after wipe, and even if I already cleared it myself.

I have noticed I don't get asked that often these days though, I guess people prefer to put up a learning/clear party on PF, and then just wait for it to fill up, rather than actively find people.
