Make the gameplay faster with OCDs

A lot of rotations for classes now involve using double OCDs in rotations. From the start of the game, the button mashing has become rather tedious having to smash blood for blood and internal release when they should only be tapped once. I feel that the gameplay of FF14 can be much more interesting and faster paced if actions took less time to execute and so that we can perfect our rotations by having faster OCDs and GCDs in rotations. However, the current system restricts us from that due to latency issues, which I feel can be compensated for by having shorter times.

Macros don't help either because you'd have to wait until a portion of the animation is finished and then you can execute the next action in line. This is even more frustrating for ninjas who use mudras right after an OCD, which if you button smash too fast, it will lag and screw up your next ninjutsu. Instead, it is frustrating to having to wait a full second just so that an animation can finish to execute the next action. As a player, I know what the next course of action is to take, so why should the skill level be lowered by having to wait periods of time in between actions? This is not even an issue about casual players anymore, it does not take skill to know what comes next after having playing a class for so long.

Additionally, what happens down the road when we become higher levels and attain more skills? Are we going to need to smash 3 or 4 OCDS in a single GCD to GCD rotation? It will get ridiculous at some point.
1 -> (BFB, IR, DL, DWD) -> 2, etc.

It will only be a problem if you get more buffs down the road.

We all know they're going to downsize/remove/reallocate/combine skills when the expansion comes with new skills. They're not going to have more abilities than a PS4 controller can handle. The game's pace is fine and the only things you have to ever mash are on long cooldowns so it's not like you're triple tapping your 1-2-3 abilities.

I wouldn't say so for some classes, like half of a Bard's kit is OCD skills as an example. And since they get WM, they can only do 1 between attacks without a dps loss. It's a bit awkward to play right now if I'm honest..

I hate the general cooldown. Even Ninja on Huton effect still feel very slow. Weapon skills should be able to use one after another with 0 cooldown. It's the reason why the game is so slow and boring.

Faster != better

This is one of the few games to use a combat system that lets you think and react to more than what is right in front of you. There are scores of action games online that cater to those wanting twitch gaming.

@Evangela, If you find the game so slow and boring, why do you play?

When we start the game the 2.5 gcd makes it's presence felt, I'll agreetothat, but as we level and gear up we acquire skill/spell speed that speeds things up, and oGC abilities to fill in the gaps. The game is quite fast enough for most people by lvl 50, it does not need to be accellerated further - imho of course.

We need more strategy, and encounters that require strategy, we don't need to push this game towards action RPG hack&slash territory.

I'd be happy with a faster global cd if it meant getting rid of ocd skill weave, that gets extremely obnoxious what with their sometimes very long cool downs to keep track of as well as their obvious intention as utility skills meant to silence and what not. Why not make the combo system more in depth instead?

No, no they shouldn't. If you have such a need for speed, you're playing the wrong game.

I'd just like it if the animation priority on skills were either removed altogether, or offGCDs would inflict a GCD sweep on your bar relative to its animation length so I could actually queue a skill more reliably.

Tbh speed is fine but... You cant triger 2 buffs at same time and its really annoying if you want to use 3buffs. you click 1st, click 2nd, and then click 3rd and it skips 2nd sometimes lol.

I wouldn't mind if at least it was more responsive. Its a bitch at times.

The game's fight pace at lvl 60 is still too slow for my likes. I would prefer something a bit faster. Maybe it's just fine as how it is now but it's not what I would like it to be. The overall battle still feels slow.

The down side to faster game play and creeping into the Hack and slash RPG is latency. People with poor internet connection suffer from this. Check a video up on youtube.

But I enjoy the speed of combat as it is, faster doesn't make it better. For me the reason why I like the current speed is I've got to think there will be a 2 sec of me doing nothing until my GCD comes back, have I done the right move? I.E should I have flashed where I Shield Lobed?

play monk for more speed

For now I'd be happy if pots worked when I click them from hotbar

Its also the reason why the combat system of 1.0 was scrapped and redone to this one. No cooldown in 1.0 and let me tell ya it wasn't exactly "thrilling"

lol I should have put oGCD or something, I don't know the term people use for off cool downs.

Anyways, there is a multitude of options that the devs can do to change the pace of the game. They can compact skills back to 1.0 rotations (1-> oCD-> 2, etc.) and this would be perfectly fine since animations fit within the cooldown timers. The other option is that they can allow animation cancelling to be faster so "experienced" players don't have to wait a whole second just to proc another CD for another attack. Or they can even just lower CDs altogether. OR they can get rid of the TP system. I play every class in the game and believe me, even as monk and ninja I find myself sometimes waiting a whole second just for an animation to end or the god killing time of waiting between GCDs.

Also please don't say this game wasn't meant for fast gameplay or whatever, that concept changed when 3.0 introduced a whole new set of skills. If devs wanted to keep the slow and "casual" standard of 1 -> oCD -> 2, then they would not have included additional oCDs in rotations, this makes it clunky and awkward having to mash 2 oCDS at once in order to proc a proper rotation.

I too, am for the speeding up of ground movement but this would make casuals freak out because everything is too fast for their brains. Also I recall yoshi saying that it was to enjoy the map and graphics of the game, which is a decent point.

I've never had to "button mash", I don't know what you're talking about.

You must have some seriously low DPS then.

Maybe you are to busy complaining about speed and 'porting everywhere for the sake of time efficiency to just enjoy the game.

Too many players in FFXIV have forgotten that it's a game to be played, and have also forgotten how to enjoy the game, turning it into an exercise in efficient action.

It's not about the destination, it's about the journey. Slow down, see the sights and enjoy the world you defend.

Bard has a scary amount of Off Cooldown skills and has hard time pressing them because of his damn song.

Honestly we dont need faster movement speed. Try endgame raiding and extreme primals. The reaction times get a bit thoughter making the movement speed fine. Also at the moment we have a skill called dodging before dodging the aoe(optimizing), really noticiable in endgame mechanisms aswell(where if u dodge too late u die, if too soon u loss dps and may hit enrage)


Only reason I even complained for buffs is cuz they have no reuse time but in truth you can only use one every second or so. It makes keeping enochian harder for my class xD and also doesn't allow me to do things such as pop 3 bufs in a row. Then again I can 3 if under let lines. But 4... No way. And there's the dps loss too. Every second counts xD.

Actually what I said above probably affects every class xD. Bet I'm not the only who finds that bit annoying.

I don't like the idea of faster stuff, just need a way to make the bard's opener less of a chore, i 'mean we have 4 OCDs buff (and Battle Voice) and don't forget the bloodletter.... ugh.
And i have another problem, for some reason when i use OCDs stuff, sometimes the next cast get interrupted, wich is not only annoying, but decreases my dps (damn WM)
