It would be nice if we had instance achievements as currently most achievements are grind.
Rewards to the use of skills and fun in my FFXIV?! Hell no.
Achivements: Beat the damn thing you already learned 10 times and done with it. This is an MMORPG not a game.
I'm really surprised the dev team hasn't put something like this anyway. They're kind of a sneaky way to get two difficulties out of the same content without having to truly design two completely separate ones. I suppose it's possible the Achievement system isn't structured to be able to track things over the course of an entire counter like that though.
This would be a good idea. You already have players who already attempt different ways to do a fight just for fun. They wouldn't need to implement this at launch of a raid, but could add it in the patch after, when they'll have the hindsight of having seen the common strats people used to influence whatever challenges they put out.
This is partly why Second Coil Savage worked so well because they were able to adjust the mechanics of the turns so that people were forced to approach it differently compared to the common strats used for Second Coil (LoS Devour, Renaud stacking, T8/T9 solo tanking).
It'd be great if we had achievements for synched minimum ilvl coil like you complete coils 1-5 minimum ilvl so you get "Bane of Twintania", or for T6-9 "Dalamund's Downfall" stuff like that would be really awesome.
Hey OP, don't forget the extra AS4 achievement reddit created afterwards :

(I was going to make this thread. Glad I checked before posting ^^ )
I like the idea, but probably more linked to content that actually needs an increase in "difficulty".
Many people enjoy doing easier content while imposing harsh rules upon themselves, but do we really need that for something like Savage, where only like 5-100 people per server beat it even without special requirements?
Reminds me a lot of the legacy dungeon achievements.
My favourite was Breathless. I really wish I could wear it as a title I was so proud!
But back on track, 1.0 had achievements for doing things in a specific or unique way. I would absolutely love to see such again.
Drag-On Dragoon
Defeat [raid boss] with a KOed Dragoon in your party.
Stained Steel.
Defeat [raid boss] with a Paladin doing less than 5% of the party`s total damage.
I think some achievements in dungeons/raid could be interesting. Would add some flavour to the game + I remember I had a lot of fun getting achievements in WoW back then :)
Honestly, having these also in normal dungeons would make them infinitely more fun to replay and run, as they currently have zero reason to run again except for the exp from daily roulette. And I'm actually a hater of achievements!
Oh well, perhaps in 5.0...
These type of achievements were pretty much invented in WoW. Every dungeon and raid boss for the most part had an achievement where some weird condition which made beating it harder or more challenging some of them gave you a title or mount after doing enough of them. I don't know if SE would want to blatantly copy system that is pretty much in another game.
Can we get something like:
"Spreading Like a Virus: kill your whole party by sharing the Decree Nisi debuff.
Title: Patient Zero"
"Paint the Town Green" won't work. You know how in A1S we stack in middle during jump then run to A or B? The Resins stack when we're moving against the edge.
No thanks! My only tank is PLD, so I won't get invited because of that alone. Secondly, this will put more focus on players being DPS. WHMs may be excluded as well, since SCH is more capable of being DPS/Heal than WHM can. Folks are already disturbed by current Savage aving strong dps checks; no need for a time achievement in it.
I'd prefer such things on content that doesn't employ lockouts.
Speaking of which, from 1.X.

Yes please. Achievement hunting in WOW was fun, especially the dungeon/raid challenges.
The point of enrages is to prevent hours long fights because people drag them out to the limit (absolute virtue or pandemonium warden say hi)(don't which one exactly because I didn't play FFxi up to this point)
Though there can be a middle ground between a 3 hours sluggish fight and a 10 mins "mad deeps" race
I've been saying this for a while, achievements would make me go back and do all the fights again. It's easily implemented and provides a second run for everything. Think about how many 50 dungeons there are, all the trials, 60 dungeons, raids, even leveling dungeons. It would definitely spice up the leveling process.
I think this would be an excellent idea for the expert 4 man content people have been asking for in other topics.
The 1.0 achievements similar to this were not easy to obtain and took solid teamwork. It wasn't always something you could just do yourself with personal skill. So it's in line with teamwork needed for current expert or raid-level content.
Yea this sounds awesome.
Let's just leave everything fun out of the game because idiots can't handle it and might inconvenience someone in duty finder. :)
There's a difference between a hypothetical organized group agreeing to purposely make a fight more difficult in order to earn an achievement and a defunct group of anonymous players who may already have trouble clearing a dungeon now also having a harder time because that one guy who already brings the group down also wants to get their achievement.
Maybe it wouldn't be a bad idea to make these achievements only be earned by pre-formed groups if they were ever implemented? It would make more sense to have everyone on board than have random DF players decide they wanna do a fight a certain way and others going against that.
These sort of skill based achievements are what I love in my action/adventure/hack n slash games so I'd enjoy seeing em here. It'd be a way to reinvent old content too.
They could add these and others to the list for older fights as well. And of course should only be awarded when synced!
