Dear FF14 team,
I'm here at >Southern Thanalan (32,21), for the 6 day in a row, waiting for a FATE just so I can get a bit of progress on my relic.
Since I have to wait a lot I decided to tell you how I feel about having to do these FATE daily beast tribe quests again.
I honestly thought I would not have the need to do these FATE quests ever again, never have I've been so wrong.
You FF14 team decided to recycle old content and to make it relevant again, which is fine, yet you seem to have forgotten how annoying and consumer "unfriendly" these FATES where.
People have to sit where they pop-up, for minutes waiting for the FATE, some fall asleep while doing so, some go to the toilet (can miss the FATE while doing so) and some start working on their Gundam kits instead of playing the game, only to finish one "daily" beast tribe quest.
Oh! and let's not forget to mention the poor souls that are riding their chocobos to hurry and try to get some participation on the FATE they need that just popped, yet they can't manage to even hit it because X players where already there waiting for minutes if not a good hour and killed the FATE boss on sight.
Then, on some occasions, the insults start ... "why didn't you wait you *** ", " why weren't you already here you *** " and so on.
But ofc some of you will tell me that there are other ways to get the Relic tokens, other dailies one can do, dungeons are faster anyways and even 2.0 Hunts are not that bad how many of us though they would be.
Yes you are right, yet some of us want to do 12 quests, fast, to go and do all those other things that you've mentioned.
Yet, SE could have made our lives less ... annoying by simply having reduced the spawn times of these "daily beast tribe quests".
To those who've read all this, thank you and to SE, please make these waiting times shorter or my shelf will be full of Gundams.

Confirmed in LL that they are getting adjusted. Strange that they were adjusted in the past, but not anymore, except for one daily FATE (The Miner in the Mirror which is up almost all the time), but that one is a tier 2 daily.
I don't even bother camping these anymore, I waited one for an hour before giving up. I just do these FATEs whenever they are up when doing other dailies, so I always have an item to spare when that quest pops. Boar Wars and Quenching the Flame are still elusive, though, boar has been up twice and I missed it the first time, the latter has never been up. -

Does it matter that they've confirmed on the LL that it will be adjusted ? Well it's good they'll adjust it but for me it's more a question about why didn't it got adjusted the moment they've released the Anima Relic quests ?
Your suggestion about doing these Fates on sight is true, it helps, if you see the FATE that is. -

They've had FATE quests in the past and we've already gone over (repeatedly) the fact that if they're going to require a particular FATE, that FATE should either spawn frequently or be one that can be triggered to spawn when needed.Quote:

1.)Its been addressed already and they're working on it
2.) You don't have to do the FATE-related quests. You can even abandon them without losing your daily allowance.
3.) There are so many avenues to get anima items that you don't even have to touch beast tribe quests at all.
So why have you been waiting for one FATE for 6 days? -

The problem is that you are waiting on them.
Your fate will never spawn while all the slots are filled with other FATES waiting for their 15 minute timers to expire. That is how the system was revamped a while back. Learn how it works and you can speed up the rotation, reducing the time it takes to get to your FATE.
Basically, you can sort of "prod" the system into spawning the FATE you need.
Check the map. Find the FATES close to the level of the one you need. Go finish one of them. There will be a cool-down until the next one in that level group spawns. Go back to your spot and clear some of the local mobs to register activity in that area, then wait to see if the next FATE is the one you need. If not, go take out another in the set. Rinse/repeat.
I spawned the ones I needed quite quickly this way the last few weeks for both my relics--did the same thing when I made the originals over a year ago. Have even triggered some of the more rare ones for people like the Enmity of my Enemy chain in the shroud and Diamond in the Rough in Thanalan.
Try it... you might be surprised. At the very least, it should keep you from falling asleep. -

The FATE system is bad. The QUESTS attatched to FATE's are even worst.
Your idea is good in theory, if you were the only one there. But the simple fact of the matter is, leaving the fate leaves it open to being cleared out before you can get there. Especially with the numbers it can reach during more active times. -

And sadly you cant leave the wanted fate area if even 1 other person is there waiting for it. I think a large portion of my server would be good and hold a fate if asked or if you let them know you are closing others to pop the needed one, but all it takes is 1 other (and there is always one lol) to not give a crap and its closed longggg before you reach the area again.
We do have to sit and wait then, there's no other choice, completing other FATES is not even close to reliable, and sadly cant count on others to do the right thing either.
Boost the timers or remove them from the possible list of quests.
There are indeed other avenues to attain the relic items, I mix it up and do a bit of them all .
That in itself does NOT invalidate that this particular way is silly and needs adjusting. (not by the time 99% of ppl are finished either.....but now) -

Well... all I can say is one method is leaving a player waiting "6 days", while another may only take 20-30 minutes. May take longer to work through the rotation....but certainly not sitting on their duff for 6 days.
In my experience it has been around the 30 minute mark in most cases. Back before the last tweaking they did it could take a few hours to get something like Taste of Fear or Daxio to spawn....but since they bound it more aggressively to activity in the zone it has been considerably easier to advance FATE spawns.
And it isn't "hot air and coincidence". SE tweaked it like a year or so ago so that increased activity in a zone increased spawn rates. It's a fact that the system is designed to respond this way.
It's all in being aware of the system and the state of the zone, and working it to your advantage. -

I've got atleast one of each FATE token in my inventory right now. One night I was bored and had already finished all of my Beastmen Dailies, so I camped out at the FATEs while multitasking and doing stuff out of game. That way, next time I get one of those quests, I can just turn them in right away.
Of course, immediately after doing this, I didn't get a FATE-related quest for like 5 days. Karma or something, right?
It's still a bad system since it means I'll just have to do that again sometime. Here's hoping they change it sooner than later. They said that they're aware of the problem and that they intend to fix it, but that means absolutely nothing without a timeframe. I really do like the idea of having FATEs attached to the quests, but unless we can guarantee that they will be available, it's not fun. That does go against the idea of "FATEs" as a whole, but our time is worth more than silly procedure. -

Keep the map focused on the spot where it pops when you are doing the dailies, regardless of whether you need the fate. See it pop? Run for it. I also will linger - finish the quests I have, run to the place the fate spawns, wait for one fate to spawn in the tribe are (takes about 5 minutes, usually less. Did it spawn? Great, kill it! No? Ok, teleport to turn in and try the next day. I'm up to 5-7 tokens each now.
