Maybe in Live Letter at 23th of December?
New on the mog station. Just 12 dollars per character. Completely optional.
I am hoping for news on this as well. Hoping for 3.2... :)
Remind me again as to why they couldn't add new egis?
I want a mini Shiva!!! I don't want them to change her appareance as they did with ruda -___-.
I will be so angry if they make the egi glamours a cash shop item...
Really looking forward to a Shiva glamour :) I wonder if it will be applicable to only certain pet types or any of the three.
Balance issues. The three egis we have at the moment aren't even balanced correctly, and it would be better for them to focus on the ones we have before adding any new ones. If they added new ones and they didn't add anything as or more useful than, say, Contagion than they would be pointless.
Would be nice if SE gave us an update on this, we all have been waiting for awhile now...
Don't give SE any more cash shop ideas, please. I want it but I refuse to pay for something I was promised and then was told I wasn't going to get; new egis in general not the glamour system.
Though, they could take a page from the MCH/BRD book and have a pet that is more of a support and provides MP/TP to the party while doing less damage - as the pets are roughly 20% of our damage, they could simply have that pet do absolutely 0 DPS and only provide support. To add to this, I'd suggest that it drain the MP of the SMN - so that it's not to overpowered or rendering MCH/BRD less desired, but would provide another support option in clutch situations.
Then there could be another pet that helps increase the damage output of the party while not providing a lot of damage output themselves. This would be a pet that is obviously more useful in larger parties (8 vs 4).
Then there could be another pet that is more involved with CC than DPS - this will provide more DPS than say the last 2, but less than our current Ifrit/Garuda. This pet could provide more stuns/slows/freezes|binds
I think it would be great if they added a mode for Titan that helps more in a tank support capacity, so that it can be useful in a dungeon. i.e. Instead of having it grab agro off the tank, it actually helps soak some of the damage from the tank. This would allow for your healer to help DPS more. This could also potentially help provide more strategies in dealing with tank busters in higher end raids.
I hope they put it in soon. I really want to continue playing summoner but sadly I just cant stand the look of the pets, I know its a small thing but for me it really bothers me a lot.
Can they just make the new primal pet skins on the egis. :p
If the pets are going to support the pt, the mp should be taken away from all the party members. (The ruin3 already consume a lot of mp by itself.if the pet consume our mp too, we won't be able to use rikn 3 which is our strong attack way aparts from our dots)

This says 3.2 (With no confirmed timeline)... Don't know how accurate it is though...
The last (I believe) official thing said about it was from the XXIII Letter (July):
Quote:
Q7. Can you please let us know the current progress for the system where we can change the looks of summoner egi?
A7. We haven’t been able to address this yet. We’ll need to make this work with all the actions and we’re going to start working on this, so please give us some more time. Even if we were going to change their appearance, we would need to create the effects, sound, and actions for each egi, so it’ll require some time. We’re still deciding if we’re going to add these as we’re done with each one, or add them all at once, so please be patient while we work on this.
I'm really crossing my fingers that we will get some type of update on this system... Was hoping 3.2... If not planned for 3.3 is there anyway we can get an update on this item, when we might expect it? :)
Containment Bay S1T7 demonstrated egi versions of Sephirot.
3.4 it seems, but which egi will be first?
Will Scholar's fairy can use this system?
Cause they said Egi, done said anything about fairy.
Well seeing as Ramuh's Arbiters is a model already made, I would assume that'd be the easiest to bring out 1st...
Then again, they might surprise everyone and make Ramuh from scratch (and that may be to the chagrin of many if it arguably looks worse than the Arbiters)/
If it somehow ends up being Carbuncles (and it took them this long just to paste Carbuncles over current egi's, who already are in-game and animated) then I'll need to excuse myself while I /facedesk.
I can see it. A Glamour item for Egis that only Alchemist specialist can make it with very expensive primal drops, making market board prices go to 70000000000 gil for a single Egi glamour that can be use only 1 time (So if you quit glamour, pay again), instead of simply give us a fucking quest to unlock it forever.
Was I the only one hoping for details on the actual system? I don't particularly care when/what we get first... I just want to know how they intend to implement it so I can decide whether I even care at all...
It's it's as simple as just going up to an NPC and saying "You can have Ifrit-Egi for the melee pet, or you can have Shiva-Egi for the melee pet", then I simply don't care... That's a gimp system...
What I want is a system in which you only have one Egi... You equip a stone in your offhand slot, and that determines what you summon... Equip an Inferno-Focus? Well, then your melee, mage and tank pet are Ifrit-Egi. Requires a bit more effort on their part, but overall that's the perfect system IMO... Summon, Summon II and Summon III can all then work the same way as skills like Shield Bash (cannot be used unless you have the offhand item equipped). Whatever Egi you want to use you can no matter what, and there is potential for some showing off even (Dreadwyrm-Focus drops from T13, etc.).
Not sure what to make of their timescale with regards to that... If it was as simple as just swapping Garuda-Egi for Ramuh-Egi at an NPC, with Ifrit-Egi and Titan-Egi remaining the same, then surely that can't take long? The model is already done for Ramuh-Egi, it would just be the animations that need work and if Ramuh-Egi is locked to the mage pet, that can't take long... First one introduced in 3.4? That suggests just one is taking a long time... I can't see one taking that long at all though, but I can see the build up for the system I just outlined taking that long; We already have Ifrit-Egi, Garuda-Egi, and Titan-Egi (plus Carbuncles if applicable). If we're going to have a system where any of the summon types can be any of the Egi, then introducing one means revamping the existing Egi as well... Ifrit-Egi needs mage and tank animations, for example, they can't let us have Ramuh-Egi for all our summons without also doing that... Dare I hope? I mean off-hand items perhaps isn't the best solution given inventory space (though the offhand slot is notoriously underused), but that lets you change on the fly and is fairly intuitive... No real annoying cost like Glamour Prisms, no having to go talk to a NPC to switch... Just "I'm fighting Shiva, so I'll use Ifrit-Egi because this game has no Elemental Wheel and I'm sad"
It's also something fairly easy to implement regardless of how they want to do it... A follow up to that Lv50 Heavensward Summoner quest, in which they stabbed us all in the heart by teasing Ramuh-Egi, and that unlocks the system? Fine. Retroactively going back and just applying it to Arcanist? Also fine. Just add a Ruby/Emerald/Topaz/etc. Carbuncle-Focus to the early Arcanist quests, add the respective Primal ones to the quests we unlocked them... Even perhaps Fairy ones for Scholar... I think that's really why I consider this the absolute best system they could implement... Scholar could have Eos no matter what, just Support or Healer Eos, it could also have Carbuncle and Healing Ruby/etc. (and dare I dream, an Airy option?). Likewise, Summoners who miss Carbuncle can slap on a Carbuncle-Focus and use Carbuncle again...
If I remember correctly in the Letter so many months ago about egi glamours, they said they'd have to design everything from the new motions, animations and special effects to the interface icons for each new egi and its abilities. I'm no designer, so I don't know how long this takes them for just 1 egi, but that was more or less their excuse for this feature being put on the back-burner.
Personally, yeah, I was expecting them to make an "alternate" egi to each of the existing three in terms of role. While it would be interesting for them to have a "one-egi-fits-all" concept, I do not foresee the devs remodeling abilities and motions of the existing egis in addition to new egis. That sounds like more work which I know the developers will not deign to do (but, they've surprised me in the past; both in good and bad ways). If they are going the whole nine yards to make each egi for every role, then bravo.
I guess it depends how many people they've had working on it, and for how long, but from when this was first announced, to 3.4? That is a lot of time... If all we get from that is "You can pick Garuda-Egi or Ramuh-Egi!", then I wouldn't be surprised to learn that one person did the whole thing, during his lunch breaks... Aside from the quest itself, the main time block on this is the animations. We've got Summon/Dismiss animations, general movement animations and auto-attack. Then you've got the specific moves, four per pet-type plus Enkindle. Naming the moves and giving them specific icons isn't a lot of work at all really, the names are either taken from the Primal themselves (Mountain Buster), or don't even need changing (Contagion). In terms of just the ability animations (going to ignore Enkindle, since it's generally just a scaled down version of the Primals move), obviously making Ramuh-Egi with just four for mage-Egi is less work than giving him tank and melee-Egi moves as well, totally twelve animations...
One thing I've mentioned in a few of these topics, is that they should perhaps consider making the work behind Egi-Glamours more worthwhile by including Egi in more content... Using Ramuh as the primary example, the Egi model for him basically already existed, because it was part of the Primal fight... Likewise, Titan-Egi was put in Titan (Extreme), meaning everyone got something out of SE designing what is otherwise a fairly worthless addition on Summoner. Beastmaster is another example I'd use here; Introducing new pets for Beastmaster, had we gotten the Job, would be of no real consequence. Beastmaster uses Charm to turn various monsters into pets. We already have numerous raptors, crabs, elk, etc. enemies that Beastmaster could use as pets, because all those enemies exist for absolutely everyone to fight. The cost of giving Beastmaster more pets doesn't exist, because you're adding new monsters to fight all the time anyway. A similar approach should be taken with Egi. Giving us Shiva-Egi is going to be fairly costly, and for a Glamour option for one Job? Yeah, that's kind of a waste of resources. I would assume 3.4 will have Snowcloak (Hard) as a dungeon though, so what if we include Shiva-Egi there? Perhaps as a boss, or pet an enemy summons. Then, instead of giving us, IDK, a new Yeti boss, you've killed two birds with one stone. You've given everyone a new boss, and you've done all/most of the animations for a Shiva-Egi for Summoner.
I'd imagine Carbuncle (emerald/topaz) will be the 1st set of glamour able egis since
a. They already exists in game, so animating them won't be too much work
b. Many people requested having an option to have Carbuncle replace the egi
But yeah, I guess it's nice to know they have a rough estimate of when they'll release it (3.4) but I won't hold my breath. That's quite a lot of time, but it seems as if they are relatively understaffed and egi glamour will only benefit those who play summoners. I wonder how many SMN make up the player base.
Interface icons meaning every pet action and name. The pet action icons for Carbuncles and the SMN egi equivalents are different (caster being more subtle). That is what I take they meant by having to "update" interface icons (and their ability names) for new egi glamours.
We haven't heard about egi glamours for so long because I'm willing to bet the dev team would've rather us forgotten and stopped asking.
Again, I won't pretend to know who's doing what and how long creating (or reskinning Ramuh's Arbiters) egis take, but I've always thought that perhaps the same people who make the minions would be in charge of that. If that is the case then I'm disappointed that we get so many minions between patches while XIV's SMN probably stands as the franchise's iteration with the least amount of variety of summons.
That's how I hope it is too. Though part of me hopes each pet does have one specific role they can be glamoured for as well (ex: Ravana can only be a melee pet, Bismarck can only be tank pet, Ramuh can only be ranged pet, etc etc). I also want the system to be verrrry inter-changeable quickly, to add a lot more flavor to the game. I just wish they gave us more info. :/
I can't wait to see an over influx of bad players trying to be Summoners at raiding end game, cause kawaii pet GLAMOURS! (#Glamour is true endgame) There's going to be so many Summoners running around to pick and choose from that I suspect the supply and demand for Casters in statics will shift greatly.
Seriously, I'm just as excited as everyone else. Can't wait to see how it works.
Could we please have this carbuncle for a glamour SE? It's adorable!
