We need an expansion centered around Hildibrand

I don't post much, it's rare. But... here I am, finally working up the nerve to finish up Hildibrand story from 3.0 (still working on it, no spoilers) and I can't help but think this legendary character from 1.0 needs, no... deserves his own expansion theme.

I have heard no mention of him in patch information since Heavensward, so I assume he has not had any story continuation so far (maybe reason given in the story, I am doing it but not at it's end) but really, how awesome would it be to give that man... that GOD of a man his own expansion?

I would love more hildibrand. His quests are very funny, by far my favorite in the game.

I would unsubcribe for the entirety of that expansion. Not to be a downer or anything, but that humour would wear off very quickly.

I second that. I cant stand the Hildibrand "humour" its not funny. That would definitely be the end of the FFXIV for me.

I dont think an expansion just for Hildi should be made. However I do think that there should be new content for Hildi. Many people like it. Not everyone will like every piece of content, but many people do like the Hildi series as it brings a small comic relief that you dont get in other side/story quest.

A whole expansion dwelling in the peripheral wackiness that exists in the rest of the game could be exhausting. At least for FFXIV (A comedy MMO in general could be an interesting twist....)

Myself? My favorite characters are Estinien, Ysayle and Haurchefant (and Thancred) so I want an expansion that takes place in Ishgard, please.

If you think about it, Hildebrand is an expansion on his own. His side quests last FOREVER, so many hours of fun and joy. We got one for every patch past 2.0 with them growing in length, experimental animations, and just doing more than most cutscenes in the MSQ. My point - his side quests at least FEEL like more than the main storyline in length and depth for me. Would I take a Hildrebrand expansion though? You better believe I would!

Also, rumors abound of Scholasticate in 3.15 being the next Hildebrand adventure, but who knows.

Yoshida already confirmed that the Scholasticate storyline would be separate from Hildibrand, although one character is going to be making a reappearance.

If this is a serious suggestion, then oh goodness no. I *love* the Hildibrand quests. They were easily among the best things in 2.x. But what you have to realize is that turning the MAIN game from a grand, sprawling fantasy adventure into the Pink Panther would sort of sap much of Hildi's charm. Those work so well in part because they're a hilarious diversion from all the serious and lore-heavy things. I absolutely would love it if we got more Hildi throughout the game's life, but I don't think the devs are daft enough to make him an A-lister.

The awakening of Alexander caused quakes underneath Gold Saucer, stirring up an ancient evil in an underground realm. The Primals Cerberus and Doomtrain awaken by Diablos' hand since Alexander unlocked the path to their sealed prisons.

The silly Hildibrand has come and to save Gold Saucer and the lands of Eorzea, as his family joins in with our heroes in this unexpected land.

I hope he is always part of every expansion, but I don't think I could deal with hildibrand being part of the entire story. The fact that he is removed from the MSQ allows hildy to be much more comedic in nature.

No, we don't. We really, really don't. Hilibrand works well as a self contained set of quests that have no major impact upon the rest of the game. The tone and mood isn't like anything else in the game - nor is it to everybody's tastes given how over the top it is.

It would also risk becoming very stale given how repetitive his antics tend to be. I'm hoping that we get to see him every 2 - 3 patches instead of seeing major resources devoted to dragging out his story even further.

No. The entire point of Hildibrand is to contrast with the dire and rather dark main scenario. The only thing I see happening is if Godbert gets a role in a future expansion since he is a member of the Ul'dah syndicate, but that's about it.

I love the quests, but a whole expansion would be a bit much, I love the episodic nature of the stories and too much at once would probably wear thin. Keep em short and sweet, wouldn't do to have the mystery be solved so quickly!

Oh and make sure to add a trial fight near the end of each episode and lock off the trial roulette until it's done, I heard Hildy detractors love that.

I'd pay for a Hildebrand expansion. Don't get me wrong, I love the more in depth story we've been getting with the end of 2.x and HW, (particularly given how slow ARR's story was for the first half of the 2.x cycle), but there's nothing wrong with a bit of a breather chapter in the game as a whole, and Hildebrand is better written than most of what passes for "comedy" in the real world these days.....

More Hildebrand? Yes. Whole expansion dedicated to him? No.

^ This. The whole reason he was even added to the game in 1.0 was to help lighten the game up when the whole setting of the game was becoming increasingly dark with the Seventh Umbral Era story, and thus his bumbling antics were some much needed comic relief. Now however, his quests are a nice sidestory, but his whole narrative now seems to exist in a kind of bubble separate from the actual game's story, where aspects of the lore are.. ignored for comic value or handwaved away.

There was also a saddening tendency to drag his antics down from bumbling slapstick into utter farce (Godbert prancing around in nothing but short shorts just made me cringe every single time, even when he was swinging monsters around without a care), which makes the player's participation in it seem even more awkward. And as final insult it seems that the whole Hildibrand questline now is a convenient way to add fanservice trial battles in without affecting the wider world (Gilgamesh and Ultros/Typhon).

Don't get me wrong, I loved his series of quests, I just preferred how he was originally portrayed in 1.0 to some of his more ridiculous and farcical appearances in ARR. He can be made funny, but he worked better when he had dignity and his good heart and determination weren't just pushed aside to show him being chased around Road-Runner style.

Sure, if the point of the expansion was to kill off Hilde so that he and things like him never appeared again. Otherwise, no thanks.

Wow you sound so evil if you hate a character that brings others so much joy in a game that you want his like to die.

Hildibrand is best left to side story only.. some things are best in a small dose too much and it turns into poison.

Depends on the person, I myself love comedy so I like seeing it no matter how much. Lol
